I think this city has a lot of potential to get a higher rating over the next decade. Looks like a pretty large city with a few tall structures. A 5, but I think it will rate higher soon.

The panorama of Cairo is pretty interesting. Some interesting buildings, but they look quite old and a little run down. The Nile is amazing, of course. You Couldn't find a better backdrop. 6/10

Considerable low-rise density. Not too many talls. The architecture isn't all that interesting. Would it kill them to construct a building that isn't brown? lol

I visited Cairo and overall I have to say that I liked it. It was chaotic at times (the traffic lights don't work, the city is noisy and busy and kind of dirty in terms of air pollution, etc.) but the city has it's own charm! Not the most impressive skyline either but there is potential. I give it a 6.5.

Cities aren't all tall buildings, it's very impressive to me, with a density larger than even that of Manhattan. But sadly it looks like it's somewhat submitted to personal automobiles, not too many signs of mass transit.
Regarding dirtyness, how clean can a city in a largely desert landscape keep clean? Especially when personal automobiles are used so much as it appears to be in Cairo.

i expected something more better, its too simple, but as well i like it.

There is not much skyline. And most of the highrises look cheap and outdated. A metropolis like Cairo clearly deserves better. Almost as bad as Berlin. But good to see that new development is going up. Much potential!

It´s beautiful in its own way.
It has an exotic charm, plus is the biggest city in a dessert, followed by Lima (my city).
Althought its a bit browny and dull, I think its unique...and that is a thousand times more worthy than some 200 metres glass towers.

^^ You may be right. It's fine if he calls it ugly, everyone should be able to speak thier mind here(within reason) but I thought it was a very silly thing to say that 'there is no other skyline'.

In fact as Cairo is so big there are many skylines, it's just practically impossible to get it all in the one pic. I took this pano of Islamic Cairo from the citadel, You can also see the Giza pyramids and parts of Giza city on the left.

Visited in the year 2005 and the city really has no skyline...However there is a few towers, some of them very nice, but to spread out. Unless Cairo is cairo and due to that I give it a 5.

The city looks so neglected and dilapetated.

^^ It's in a third world country.... but I went there for Christmas/ new year 2006/07 and the vibrancy and life at street level is incredible. Leaves most other places I have been for dead in that regard... but yes, it is run down particularly in the old city.

I think people here are being very honest. They show all parts of cairo, the good ones and the bad ones. Cairo is a little brown to me but it's a very very beautiful city with a very very impressive skyline :) 8.5/10
