When i first saw some pics of cinn a couple of years ago i was stunned for some reason. Its probably because I did not expect row houses and such a dense city not to be located in the north east. Its a nice city. I LOVE it. 9/10

Its about height and modernization for me.

Its kinda sad when your two tallest were built over 70 years ago...
I've been to Cincinnati, it didn't do much for me especially after being in NYC for 2 days...

Cincy is probably the most conservative city in the Midwest US. They are conservative about tall buildings. I was there a few years ago and saw the local news debating whether Cincy was ready for a 700 ft. building with a spire. By these pics I can see it wasn't because it was not built.

Cardpooch
December 13th, 2003, 04:27 PM
Cincinnati always looks small in pictures. However, when you
approach downtown from the South the surroundings really
enhance the vertical perception and density. It's difficult for a
photo to capture that. Regardless, the city is a knockout at night.
Most would agree that even the "ugly" buildings are great!

Actually Cincy is one of the most european cities in the US. It was settled mostly by germans and there are quite few old residential buildings in germanic style. The cityhall is also interesting. Charming city

...very nice skyline. I was a fan of the defunct crime-based soap, "The Edge Of Night" for about 18 years, so every time I see a shot of Cinncy, I think of it as 'Monticello'. The show used Cinncy's skyline as fictional Monticello located somewhere in the midwest, darking the city from daylight to a sinister-looking night when it premiered on CBS-TV April 2, 1956. The reason Cinncy was chosen was because Proctor & Gamble was owner of "Edge" and is based in Cincinnati. Thus, I give it 10!

KCincy
October 1st, 2004, 05:44 PM
What makes the Cincy skyline or downtown very cool are the many different views for the "Mounts", from Mt. Adams, Mt. Auburn, and Clifton, Price Hill. That combined with the "backside" being surrounded by hills and trees is truly a treat. The second best view is peaking eastbound on Columbia PKwy, looking at Mr. Adams and East Walnut Hills.
Tall buildings alone do not do it for me.

Kevin J

7.5. I like the skyline for its density and nicer deco buildings. Just a few additions in the 700-800 foot range would put it in the big-leagues, and fit in with the current scale of the skyline. Nevertheless, the current line-up seems to fit the size of the city. A place like Cleveland has the height, but lacks the dense surrounding area to make the big boys look like they belong.

the pictures shown dont do cinncinnatti justice. I have driven through there a few times, and coming in from Kentucky, Cinncinnatti is suprisingly one of the most beautiful, and most unique cities in the country, downtown looks like it was built into the side a hill, but the only bad part is that it is situated in the worst tri-state possible: KY,IN,OH.

The photos posted on this site do not give the city of Cincinnati any justice at all. Cincinnati shines at night and is absolutely beautiful from Kentucky. The hills around the city consist of various homes and condos that almost give it a "Little San Francisco" type look. I've visited Cincinnati several times on business, and I must say that the skyline is by far the most beautiful in the midwest. Before rating, please don't judge by the photo they have here. Check out the night shots of the city. You will be impressed.

Definite 8/10. Cincy has a "classic" skyline with a great mix of old and new, although nothing massive. Not many daytime pics on this thread, anyone have more??? Plus, under-rated surroundings with rolling hills and beautiful river vistas. I'd live there! Unfortunately, it's still part of one of the most depressed states in the US. Perhaps, they identify more with Kentucky?

Dasein
August 8th, 2007, 07:16 PM
It has good density, and a nice mix of modern and historic architecture. The buildings are solid, without being too ostentatious for their surroundings, which is good - a radical postmodern design wouldn't fit well with the rest of the skyline.

However, it could use a couple of taller towers to give it some more definition, and a modern, glass tower in the 900-1100 foot range, with a well defined spire or crown would suite the city very well.

Overall, 7/10

9 because i live here lol
-1 because the skyline is pretty small with only 2 buildings being over 500ft

though going to downtown and looking straight up at the Fifth Third Tower would make you think 3 buildings are over 500ft lol

still love my city though :)

I think this is the Great American Tower [at Queen City Square]'s good side.

Cincinnati looks amazing. Queen City. If it has another good proposed tower, it might overtake Cleveland as Ohio's best skyline
