Shibam was founded in the 16th century. And has been given the nickname "Manhattan of the desert". The oldest towers in the city is 400+ yeras old, and the highest towers are on 16 floors.
All the towers are made of mud and palme-leaves.

Every family or tribe has their own tower.

Awesome place. I saw it in the National Geographic and was just blown away by the height of the mud tower. It's an incredible oasis - a piece of manhatten where you'd least expect to find it. 8/10 for it's age.

lol I love this place its so awsome. very unique just because it has very tall mud buildings right in the middle of the desert with almost no suburbs at all (in one late pic someone showed it looks like there ares ome suburbs to the south...or whatever direction it is lol) I give it a 10/10 :)
