Surabaya

Population : (2007) 3,520,874

Surabaya (formerly Soerabaja) is Indonesia's second-largest city, and the capital of the province of East Java. It is located on the northern shore of eastern Java at the mouth of the Mas River and at the side of the Madura Strait.

The city is one of the busiest ports in the country. Its principal exports include sugar, tobacco and coffee. It has a large shipyard, and numerous specialized naval schools.

City looks very interesting with the juxtaposition of low-level housing with the taller office/residential buildings. Skyline lacks any focal point, but can see lots of potential for that to come in future. Also individual buildings look quite good.

it's lacking in terms of high buidling.. it's poluted.. weird taste of architecture.. poor planning.. but i think it deserves a couple more year to manage itself as surabaya can stand proud among other major cities in the world

Surabaya is a huge and dense (low-rise) city.
Albeit a bit lacking in proper skyline.
Been there before to personally check out on Porong's thermal mud.
Surabaya looks better on street level though.
Friendly 'wong tJowo' people too...

My third fave Indo city after Jakarta and Bandung.

what made this city look bad is its blurry image,lack of skyscrapers,a bad color and what a bad taste of picking a picture focusing more on the slum-looking houses rather than the CBD!Bad choice,use a better pic next time...5/10 :(

That's right my friend,,, what I don't like about Indonesian forumers is they tend to rushing thing without even bother to search or shot a better pics... quantity over quality... at the end it just looks bad, even in Jakarta skyline...

Yeah, each cities in Indonesia accelerates their own growth and development (since autonomy in each region several years ago), the fastest will be the winner.

Batam adalah pintu gerbang secara lgsung sekaligus penghubung Indo-Spore-Msia, pengusaha dari dua negara itu sudah sangat agresive untuk ekspansi ke Batam, belum lagi FTZ yg disandang Batam (terasa klo bukan Batam yg ingin, tp mereka yg butuh, disinilah poin optimistis saya thdap Batam). Masalah utama Batam hanyalah jumlah penduduk, tp mlihat karakteristik orang Indo, tak lama lg penduduk Batam juga akan membengkak. Saya bukan memihak lho . . . saya hanya mengeluarkan opini doank. Saya mendukung semua kota Indo untuk maju . . .
