In comparison to big westerns cities like Paris, London, Frankfurt or even polish Warsaw, Katowice aren't spectacular today but in couple of years when all modernization will end who knows... - there still hope for this city :) I come from this city so I can't rate ( those pictures doesn't show whole image of the Katowice) :)

This one was hard to judge. One of my difficulties was finding the downtown area. There are some mid-sized buildings but the density of the taller buildings was not confined enough imo. I would have gave it a 5 if it was a little denser. So lacking in this area I gave this town a 4.5

don't forget Katowice is a very industrious city so there's not that great deal of office, blue collar commerce. I quite like this city as a change to the typical layout and give it a 7.

Too many skyscrapers scattered over the place make it look like a third world country. They should have chosen one area to build tall buildings. 6/10

looking on the statistics, this is 2nd city in Poland with the biggest number of highrises, but as you all can see, they're just too lied about

The new photos seem better but still... Maybe in the future the city's gonna look nicer? Not yet... Not bad though! :)

I would love to see more pictures about this city! I never heard about it, but if the metro counts 3 million people......!

The pics @ TS right now are quite depressing, but hey... there is at least a sort of sky-line. 5/10 for now... :)

best of poland in terms of potential to me. this city, with its diverse inhabitants, coming from all over the country, could become one of the most diversified and organized in europe. im still a bit idealistic about it but hey, its the city i grew by, and every visit to it ment something. 10/10 :-)

There are 40 skyscrapers in Katowice and per square kilometer we have got more scrapers than Warsaw :)

But most of them are commieblocks.In my opinion the real and good skyline is created by elegant talls (built by traders, industrials).
Future of Katowice is intresting (new highrises 80+) :cheers:

Katowice reminds me of many cities in the American Midwest.......

Except for few buildings, the city is ugly. I stayed in Katowice for 3 months and after a week or so I stopped wandering around. Many devastated areas, old, creepy buildings. At night, though, it gets certain charm, if you count churches and old architecture.
