Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles - founded modern Singapore in 1819.

There are 2 statues of him displayed prominently. The white one and the black one. The white one is a landmark along the river.

Ugh. Looks like some pigeons have come along and made some landmarks of their own. A bit disgraceful. Who's in charge of maintaining him, by the way?

I'd hazard a guess and say its the National Heritage Board that oversees the maintenance of such structures...but this is a major tourist landmark...so the Tourism Board may also have a vested interest...

RafflesCity,

Nice capture of the white coloured Sir Stamford Raffles.

Why didn't you take the black coloured Sir Stamford Raffles ?

Thanks. I didn't plan on taking the black one I just stopped to snap a few shots of the white one. The sun was shining beautifully on the statue and the buildings at that point of time.

The black one is the original one though. Maybe next time...

There's also a Raffles statue at the Parkview building.
