The Royal Liver building, Beetham tower and the Radio City tower are all impressive landmarks, not to mention the two superb cathedrals, which make this skyline unique.
:)

Cannaton October 9th, 2003, 06:19 PM 8/10
With the beetham tower coming along well, and the prospects of Unity, looks like liverpool may soon have a decent skyline. Every time i go to pierhead, the liver buildings still amaze me, the pics just dont do it and liverpool justice.
Oh and great thread monkey :)

Fabio January 4th, 2004, 11:30 PM 7.5/10
great architecture, but skyline is just ok.
Schroedinger's Cat February 27th, 2004, 10:06 PM 6.0
AndrewC March 3rd, 2004, 04:30 PM Its a lovely skyline with fantsatic old buildings, but its let down by some monsters. 7/10
Necker March 4th, 2004, 04:04 PM Nice city, but no real skyline here
kiku99 March 22nd, 2004, 07:08 AM the architecture is fabulous. many old style bldgs. but not very dense.
7/10
Talisker March 22nd, 2004, 11:40 AM Even without the cluster of highrises appearing to the north, Liverpool was one of the UK's premier skylines, thanks to the Three Graces. The Liver Building is awe inspiring - almost a skyline in itself.
In context, I'd only give it 6/10, but the quality of architecture, and the potential for the future is tremendous.
skylover April 11th, 2004, 05:48 AM Wow!Finally a city in UK other than London that has a proper skyline.
7.5/10
Xeni-2 April 16th, 2004, 01:50 PM Sorry, I don't like this old architecture of building. But the city can be beautifaul. 7/10
TommyTOM2 April 17th, 2004, 06:06 PM 6/10
Never April 17th, 2004, 07:14 PM Gave it a 7.5, but I think in the future Liverpool will have one of the best skylines in Europe. I also look forward to seeing a lot of the new developments planned for the European City of Culture 2008.
spankymonkey April 17th, 2004, 08:05 PM its not very special compared to big city skylines, but the architecture on some of the buildings is beautiful.
i give it a 6/10
julesstoop April 18th, 2004, 12:15 AM Beautiful little skyline, but for a city in such a large urbanised area quite humble. I suppose it has to do with poor times in the latter half of the previous century (?)
EstablishedStyle April 19th, 2004, 08:14 AM Liverpool c'est super! le huit points
Henk October 26th, 2004, 12:23 AM 6/10
Monkey October 31st, 2004, 10:15 PM A city with enormous potential.
The next few years are going to be very exciting indeed.
At the moment the skyline is probably worth 6.5 and relies too heavily on the Liver Building, but if all the current proposals go through then this could increase to as high as 8.
LyriCYST November 19th, 2004, 01:07 AM Hey everyone, I'm new to these forums. Anyway, I build 3D computer models, and I've chosen to work on the Royal Liver Building. I have found a few good pictures online but the majority of those I've found are low resolution, or too small altogether. Does anyone on here know of a good place to look (online, printed publications, etc).
For anyone that actually lives in Liverpool, is there any way you could go take some photos? I need close up shots of the upper portion of the building and some of the more intricate architectural elements. I'd be willing to compensate you for your time.
Any help would be most appreciated...
bustcapl December 14th, 2004, 03:11 PM you have to go across the river and appreciate the true majesty of thisn city... especially at night in the UK she has few equals and in the next few years Liverpool will become one of the greatest skylines in europe.
ferge January 3rd, 2005, 05:29 PM Post a skyline pic of this city in 2 years time, and I believe most people wouldn't recognise it was the same... I agree with most people, there practically is no skyline at present. The Liver Building cannot make a skyline by itself, and the other two graces aren't very tall.. (that is not denoting their awesome beauty, however)
Yet since Beetham, a 90m residential went up, the whole area close to it has seen interest in development. This could be quickly become the densest cluster in the UK outside of Canary Wharf, London. I think then people will give higher marks.. just hope that Liverpool sees the potential it has, come 2008.. when the city will be Capital of Culture, it may be a very grand international city indeed.
Sitol447 February 10th, 2005, 01:04 PM 10/10 I LOVE Liverpool
Skopie February 13th, 2005, 11:48 PM I went to that cafe in the 7th picture down, it's cafe mocha, yet it doesn't serve mocha, and the coffee it does serve is out of a machine.
As for liverpool, the three graces are wonderful, but other apart from that the cities pretty ugly.
B@dGuYoM February 14th, 2005, 12:13 AM looks good 7,5/10
Sitback February 14th, 2005, 04:08 PM I'm not a manc and have no reason to be jealous of Liverpool. I think the skyline from the seafront is pretty cute but hardly impressive. so that would get 6/10, but for the simple fact that Liverpool is such a crap hole, giant council estate of a place I'll deduct 2 points.
4/10
MuddyZehbra32 February 19th, 2005, 04:43 AM Beautiful I love it yay! i give it a 10!
ferge March 25th, 2005, 01:28 AM http://img86.exs.cx/img86/4755/oldhallstreet8ah.jpg
Just thought I'd share this seeing as no one else has (of yet), Courtesy of Badgerman is a pano of the recent developments of the waterfront. As you can see there is development currently underway. Also, this week saw the official approval of the new beetham tower, which would become the city's tallest. You can also see to the right two other towers well underway, these will both stretch the cluster out towards the 3 Liver buildings. Many other towers are planned in this very close area, ranging from 20 stories upwards..
I know its still not much compared to some cities, yet you can see how the city has began to embrace high rise buildings and make the most of its fantastic setting, can you see the potential? Give it time.. and this will slowly become one of the best skylines of Europe (In my opinion).
MattSal March 25th, 2005, 03:02 AM Liverpoll has got a pretty nice skyline for a city like itself. I give it a 7/10.
Wirral May 5th, 2005, 03:55 PM 7/10
Such an improvement can be seen in Liverpool. Tall buildings getting planned for all over the city, expanding to what will be a very wide skyline.
geoff189d June 17th, 2005, 11:40 AM Top marks! No other British city can boast a skyscraper that's nearly 100 years old!
LSyd June 17th, 2005, 10:50 PM old school; 9.5/10.

tigerboy January 25th, 2007, 03:47 PM Without doubt it belongs with London and Edinburgh among the 3 most handsome big cities in the UK.
Liverpool is a real city with real history reflected in its skyline. The view from the Mersey of the line of buildings on the docks is the single best urban view in Britain outside London and arguably inclusive of London.
Class and real. It's an 8.5.

Very good argument
krull February 18th, 2007, 08:11 PM Not much of a skyline. Although, I see some beautiful old buildings in there. 6/10
Gherkin February 19th, 2007, 12:08 PM Silly putting Liverpool here before Beetham West is completed. It would greatly improve the skyline, so should have waited a few months before it's at full height and cladded... but Liverpool still looks great! And will be much better by 2008

Elite April 14th, 2011, 07:23 PM much better than the last time I saw this skyline. Still a long way off world leading skylines, therefore I have to give it a 5/10
SO143 April 14th, 2011, 10:13 PM I think Liverpool has such as really good skyline by European standard and it's population (435,500 people) even when you compared it to other mega and capital cities like Madrid, Oslo, Helsinki, or even the German capital Belin, you will realise good this little town's skyline is :)
Geocarlos April 19th, 2011, 02:16 AM Liverpool have came from a long way to have a better skyline and it paid off. What those last pictures you posted reveal is a skyline looking taller, densier and amazingly beautiful.......

skillaz April 14th, 2012, 07:30 PM 7.5 from me. a great skyline, with historic and iconic buildings, as well as the modern highrises, balanced very well. the waterfront view is definately it's crown jewel, one of the top 15 in europe definately, with some great projects on the table.
will need greater height, density and volume in future to achieve hogher scores. but proposals of large developments inc. skyscrapers, if they get off the ground, could serve liverpool well in future. with the waterfront view, it has massive potential, on top of its current good status :)
