The oddest (or most unique) thing is how much farther back the seats in the endzones go. It's a bit counter-intuitive when most football stadiums try to maximize sideline seats. I have a feeling that the small upper decks on the sidelines were built rather early and the easy expansion was to add more seats at the top of the endzones.

Hell yeah!!! Great stadium, how many consecutive sold outs??? Although this stadium needs another update so it can hold up another 10,000 at least (sideline seats). The big red stadium has the best and most knowledgable fans in all college football.

O MY GOD! do we have to see every stadium in the country? If you wanted to make this easier, make a College Football Stadium thread.

Man, someone has WAYYY to much time on there hands

If you wanted to make this easier, make a College Football Stadium thread.

They did have one big one thread before, but there were way to many discussions going on in that one thread. It was chaos and died out very quickly since people who were interested in parts but not all of it. I think this allows for much better discussion of stadium specific topics.

So yeah keep up the good work, Sercan! Honestly, if it's too much, I think a sub-forum for college football would work too.

The large one might be able to seat 25,000, certainly larger phisically than the Sudtribune, but it's not a terrace.

Dude, your new threads are really annoying. If you wanna post all 60+k stadiums in the world, go ahead, but don't do it here. What do you want us to say about all them??? You don't even have anything interesting to say about them...

I've been to a game here (Kansas vs Nebraska This season) and it was absolutely amazing. My seats were in the 92nd row (but hey they were free), but I still felt close to the action. While the capacity is listed at 81,067, the announced attendance was over 86,000 and I asked a Nebraska fan next to me and he told me they are usually in the 86,000 range. The fans are very knowledgeable, but also pretty annoying. Up in the 92nd row I was making noise and they yelled at me that the players couldn't hear me, then proceeded to make noise themselves on defense. It was pretty funny.

Those end zones are overkill you can't even see ball if the made a kick. I guess the reaction of the crowed would let you now if it was good. In the positive side is as a nice view doh. But not much use if you wanna actually see the game. So was this a cheap expansion? should they have built tiers instead?

Trust me, I was in the 92nd of 99 rows and I still could see everything. Because there are no breaks in the seating, I was still very close to the field even though I was way in the back. The pictures are very deceiving in that sense.

Im sure you can see just fine...it only looks like overkill compared to the rest of the stadium

I have always found this stadium to be strange, because it looks like a majority of the seats are in the endzone. Does anybody know how many of the 81,000 seats are beyond the goal line?

According to the Wikipedia entry for the stadium, the original construction only involved the stands on both sidelines, and had a capacity of 31,080. Even allowing for luxury boxes and the new construction, it seems like less than 50% of the seats are between the end lines.

On a side note, my dad was from Nebraska, but never attended the university. He left to join the navy at 18, served three years in the Korean War, and stayed in the Bay Area when he got out, but always remained a fan of the football team. We took a vacation back to his hometown of Omaha in 1972, and drove by the stadium on the way. One of the end zone expansions was going on, and I took a bunch of pix with my cheap little instamatic. When he died several years ago, I was going through his stuff, and found that he had kept copies of some of those pictures I had taken more than 30 years earlier. Unfortunately for this group the pictures were of poor quality to start with, and the years had not been kind to them. I remember that from the outside it reminded me of Kezar Stadium more than anyplace else. But at the time the only other stadiums that I had seen were Stanford, Candlestick and the Oakland Coliseum.
