Archiecturally, I like Skopje's image as a new city, and I think it's better if they build a modern-looking museum, instead of something so neo-19th-century-Ottoman, but anyway..

What I'd like to know is why were all the comments deleted, including mine, which were in favor of the museum :dunno:

It actually has elements of Byzanthine, not Ottoman architecture. Don't forget that the Ottomans copied everything from the Byzanthines.:)

Quote! ...and not only from them.

I think that the architecture of this new museum is very anachronistic.

That is more appropriate for the "strugle"!

But seems to be a little bit "I wanna be modern"! And I don't really understand the need for that star on the prospect.

Anyway, better than the actual building.

Although I am also in favor of a museum with modern architecture, I do not like the proposal with the star. I would have strongly supported this proposal instead:

^^True! Eventhough are totally two different architectures.

The second proposal is the oposite of the first one. Extrovert vs introvert.

Interesting choice of name.......for a new museum: D

For your information, there is already a " Museum of the Macedonian Struggle" in Thessaloniki, Province of Macedonia, Greece.

This museum was opened in 1981 in a Neoclassical building that was built in the centre of Thessaloniki at the end of the 19th century and designed by Ernst Ziller.

^^Yeah the government is in some past century architectual phase thing where they're rebuilding the old buildings destroyed during the earth quake.

Um ok this forum must have deleted my post to NickyF...
Anyway what i said was the government is in some past century phase of old looking buildings, that's why they're re-building the old buildings that got ruined in the earth quake and making this one look old, i like it but i also like the original proposal with the crack in the middle and the star on the side, that would have looked really cool, it looks trendy.

This is absolutely the most interesting project Skopje will ever have in my opinion, the stuff displayed in the museum itself, I mean!

It's all good except for its bullshit name, the shitty exhibitions that are going to be portrayed there, and its insane price tag.

The full name is the "Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and the victims of Communism". What victims they have in mind, I can only wonder... Dumbass nationalists!

What does this mean? I seem to recognize all the words, but it sounds to me like "wax" is working in "Ukraine" at a cost of "1.5 mln euro." Is Macedonia buying wax from Ukraine for this museum or actual exhibits?

105 sculptures made of wax, like those in Madame Tussauds museums.... from Ukraine..1.5 mil euros.... for the wax works... we chose an art company from Ukraine.... the design and the looks of the sculptures are done in Macedonia....

I am assuming that they were separatists from Yugoslavia in favor of independent Macedonia.

You assume well my friend. Even though the right term would be secessionists, I personally perceive them more as separatists.

That's like, say, Ukrainians fighting for an independent Ukraine in the 1960's, 1970's, or 1980's. If you're pro-Soviet, you'd probably call them stupid secessionists (or separatists, as I did), or if you're ultra right wing nationalist, you'd probably call them freedom fighters or national heroes (happening right now in Macedonia).

---

The above stated is just my personal point of view of course, and since we've got a lot of those "commie retards VS godsent patriots" discussions going on in our own back yard I would like to steer clear of such discussions. I just wanted to clear a few things up for you guys, since you seem interested in Macedonia (which I like). :)
