macedonia is the powerhouse of eurobasket, due to lack of experience they lose to russia for a point but they have a better players than france, espana and russia

Are you serious? Macedonia barely got so far out of nowhere, they definitely don't have better players than Spain, Russia, France or Lithuania.Basketball players return to Macedonia as heroes

Over 50,000 exhilarated fans gathered in Skopje's Macedonia Square on Monday (September 19th) to welcome the national basketball team back from the EuroBasket championship in Lithuania.

Five thousand fans waited for the players to arrive at the Alexander the Great Airport from where they were then transported to the square aboard a roofless double-decker bus.

"After losing to Russia [for the bronze medal] we felt heartache, but today, when we see the welcome you prepared, we do not need a medal because you are our medal," coach Marin Dokuzovski said. More: http://www.setimes.com/cocoon/setimes/xhtml/en_GB/features/setimes/features/2011/09/21/feature-02

Petanque and Lawn Balls were in 2005 Philippine SEA Games as well and was hosted by Clark.

We have a good futsal team.
We have good Wall climbing team (aka sport climbing- used to be my sport in UP)

I know wall climbing but as a competitive sport? I haven't heard of regional and national competition for this.

On Petanque, it is not really popular. For Futsal, I know it's an indoor football game. Football's popularity is in the early stage for this country. If we say for SEA games, there should be competition among regional or provinces.

On your marks, get set, go: Lord Coe and England unveil 2012 Olympic Stadium track
The finished running track at the Olympic Stadium has been unveiled.

British 2012 hopefuls including Paralympic gold medallist Dan Greaves, long jumper Chris Tomlinson and World Championship silver-medallist Hannah England tried out the new surface at the £486million venue.

The red Mondo track, which was laid in August, is set to be a fast surface for 2012 competitors.

OLY- London still calling for three more teams
GENEVA (Olympics) - China became the ninth team to have a place in the London Games assured with a heart-stopping 70-69 victory over Jordan in Sunday's Final of the FIBA Asia Championship.

The United States, who won the gold medal at the Beijing Games, gained entry to the Olympics by capturing the gold medal at the 2010 FIBA World Championship while hosts Great Britain had their spot in London confirmed by the FIBA Central Board in March.

This summer, Afrobasket gold medalists Tunisia, FIBA Americas winners Argentina and runners-up Brazil, Oceania champions Australia, EuroBasket victors Spain and the team they beat in the title game, France, and China clinched places at the Olympics.

For 12 other countries, the dream of making it to London is still alive because three places are still up for grabs.

Angola, Nigeria, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, New Zealand, Russia, FYR of Macedonia, Lithuania, Greece, Jordan and Korea will each compete at the 12-team FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (July 2 to July 8). I know it's not all scoring, but when you have players with 4.0 ppg and 3 rpg yet they get payed over $7 million a year, wow, that's a waste.

The NBA is not screwed because of the great players that get payed $15 + millions, the NBA is screwed because of all the shitty players that get payed $10 to $15 million a year yet they don't contribute enough for them to earn that.

they have a developmental league so they could get the best players, right?
$7million a year really is a waste of money, and they are not the star players of their teams or are they are just reserves??

How about Gilbert Arenas? Is he worth $19.269.308 a season?

Rashard Lewis with 11.7 ppg and 5.1 rpg? $22,152,000 this season

Joe Johnson, is he worth $18.038.573 this season?

That's one of the reasons the NBA is so fu...up right now, paying way too much for average players.

MANILA, Philippines – Tycoon and sports patron Manny V. Pangilinan has come to the rescue of the beleaguered Philippine Sports Commission by offering to shoulder the expenses of athletes from seven sports to the 26th Southeast Asian Games.

The total amount pledged by the telecommunications and utilities magnate comes up to about P10 million, which is just P5 million short of the P15 million the PSC had hoped to raise to augment the original budget of P30 million for the November 11 to 20 biennial Games in Indonesia.

Arenas' numbers are going down, maybe he didn't like the fact that he was traded to Orlando thought he averaged 19-points a game for 8 years or maybe he doesn't fit in Orlando's type of basketball??he's only 29
those players should only be getting a minimum of $8 million a year, still a huge money for an average player

MANILA, Philippines - All eyes will be on Palembang, Indonesia on Friday for the official opening of the 26th Southeast Asian Games.

A report by ANC correspondent TJ Manotoc said preparations for the opening ceremony of the SEAG were a sight to see as Indonesia gathered some of the best talents in the region for the ceremony.

He said the opening ceremony will have "an elaborate display of LED lights, a 360-projector, 3,000 dancers, a thousand-piece orchestra and a thousand drummers."
KC Concepcion, daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta, will be joining the festivities by singing the SEA Games theme song “Together We Will Shine” with Indonesian actress-singer Agnes Mojica and Malaysian belter Jacklyn Victor.

^^kulelat talaga tayo

I was there and watched most of the games. The feeling was euphoric esp. Champion ang Pinas! I believe Indonesia will get the crown. They prepared hard for this SEA Games plus the home court advantage.

I guess ganun naman madalas especially sa SEAG na ang host country ang mag ooverall champion. But in our case, if I'm not mistaken, isang beses pa lang nangyari yun.

Case of the missing gold in taekwondo (http://www.philstar.com/sportsarticle.aspx?articleid=747993&publicationsubcategoryid=69)

PALEMBANG – Information gathering through the SEA Games website continues to be a problem. Official schedules provided by the website sometimes show different information from what actually takes place the next day.

An example is the long jump event where Henry Dagmil was to compete on Saturday and Maristella Torres on Sunday. It was the other way around.

There were events where eliminations were cancelled but remained on the website schedule.

The worst booboo was the gold medal tally of the Philippines. Media based in the Philippines swore they witnessed the awarding ceremonies in taekwondo where Camille Manalo was awarded the gold in the lightweight (57-62kg).

I hope the organizers can still do something about this, its day 5 already and they're still experiencing this problem :ohno:

Singapore's strategy is effective. They focused on few sports that would give them better chances of medals. They also naturalized some Chinese athletes.

Swimming and Table Tennis produced 20 Golds out of 29 Golds for Singapore.

PH sports officials are so backward thinking. They are only after their ego, resorting to political war games. This has been happening after the SEA Games 2005 Manila.
