For a city that size, Edmonton is not doing too badly and it'd be awesome if they could add 2 or 3 of 200m or taller towers to the skyline!

Edmonton is okay. But if I could find work out in the Okanagan, I'd leave in a heartbeat!!! I think Kamloops is much nicer!

I always assumed Edmonton was located on a open grassland or prairie, it seems to be located in a forested area. A forested area some miles away from the prairie ?

Edmonton is located in Parkland which is the transition space between the Taiga/Shield and the Prairie. Parkland is basically means lots of prairie-meadow and small bits of forest and, especially along the rivers, larger forests.

I wonder what it would be like to live there...... I guess I better keep on dreaming...

There is Epcor Tower being built right now, topped out and stuff and the Pearl is being built (35 stories) in Oliver, west of Downtown. Once the airport is gone and the arena downtown starts moving, expect more highrises to be built in the North side of Downtown.

Also whats the best way to get to your big West Edmonton Mall. I assume its not walking distance from the downtown. Thanks

Number 100 Express to West Edmonton Mall. Take a cab to the train station.

Edmonton's skyline seems pretty impressive, especially considering that it rivals (or even overtakes) the skylines of many other cities with a metro of only one million.... And a fair few cities with metros of well over that number.

ok here's some of my recent photos of Edmonton. I loved Edmonton, the city centre was no architectural marvel, the but the city connected with me and I loved the vibe. Stumbled across to Old Strathcona and was soooo disappointed that I missed the opening of your Fringe festival by 1 day. Bugger. I also forgot to buy an oilers tshirt for $19 while at your big West Edmonton Mall. Found a shop back here in Adelaide that has some for $50 which is a ripoff so have ordered one via ebay instead

I know, its so inconvenient that now the via station is quite far away from the city centre and I don't think they'll ever move it back because the city would rather develop that piece of land into a huge commercial and residencial developement.

nice pics all! but Edmonton still desperately needs to "grow up" so to speak. when the city center airport is finally gone, and the new arena is finally built, we just might start to see a rejuvenated downtown and hopefully some actual tall buildings.

I Give it at least 5 to 6 years before we see some really big changes to downtown landscape. Huge problem right now is the Feds not wanting fund anything that we do.
