View Full Version : The official language of the Tunisian subforum
Klausenburg June 15th, 2008, 02:03 PM We should choose now if the subforum will be 100% in English, 100% in French, or 50%-50%. Most of the Tunisians are speaking more French then English, therefore, I belive that will be more activity and more forumers here if more French will be used, but if English will still be used mainly, SSC forumers from other countries could easily read all, and would visit the forum more often.
Aliya June 15th, 2008, 02:15 PM Bilingual ... cos thats how most forums are
But hopeully more in English... cos I dont speak French and so dont most of the forum.. and it would be nice to browse the Tunisian section and know what Im seeing :)
eklips June 15th, 2008, 03:22 PM You guys should also use your own language.
Russian section is in russian, UK section is in english, Portuguese section is in Portuguese, the japanese section has lots of japanese threads. Don't be ashamed of your own language! And this is true for other MENA forums.
Aliya June 15th, 2008, 03:24 PM Hey... what about Arabic? lol it's not on the poll :S
Harkeb June 15th, 2008, 03:46 PM Participation is good, no matter in what language it is . Im sure those who are bilingual would do us the favour to translate where possible.
KB June 15th, 2008, 05:00 PM I voted for billingual so everyone can enjoy

Tounsi June 15th, 2008, 07:11 PM as a Tunisian forumers I belive that this forum should be targeted also for the tunisian forumers as the morrocan forum this one will be bilingual and we can also use our own dialect with latin letters by the way no need to have arabic added in the poll :)
LeB.Fr June 15th, 2008, 07:30 PM ^^Are you the only Tunisian forumer??

Word! The problem is that MENA's local languages aren't canonized and can be harder to type or read.
I vote for bilingual with more emphasis on English (and at least one thread in Tunisian :) )
Matthias Offodile June 15th, 2008, 08:19 PM Trilingual
Arabic and French should come first īcos these are the official languages of Tunisia and should therefore come first above anything else.
Then there should be English for the non-Arabic and non-French speakers.
The Brazilian forum is entirely in Portuguese and no native language, for example. You wonīt find English there apart from the threads that I have created.

Libra June 17th, 2008, 05:15 PM I knew French had influence in the Maghreb, but I didn't realize French was still so dominant until coming to this forum.
Anyway trilingual I guess. People should post in whatever language they feel most comfortable with.

Well not only influenced it bt they colonized our countries ... For instance in tunisia they changes drastically the mentalities and also the society, the economy the infrastructures ( wich is not a bad thing ) and they opened french scholl everywhere to assimilate us ...
So yes indeed we are bilingual and speaking french is still considered as a social achievement let says since the elite is mostly francophone
UtopianSkyscraper August 21st, 2008, 10:56 PM I voted for a bilingual forum, it's the best option I believe.
Amroucheluxus September 22nd, 2008, 08:39 PM Me too :) ...as said above, French is the 1st foreign language people learn and tend to use in school and in daily life...but English is necessary if we want to reach forumers worldwide...that<s y I voted for the bilingual option
