I was told that the Naija swamps are loaded with crocks, and yes crocks will usually only attack if they're hungry enough and or feel threatened; either way I wouldn't want to take the chance of running into one or more in which hasn't eaten in a while and or feels as though I came a lil too close for comfort toward it while in that lil canoe.

An endangered drill monkey in the Afi Mountain sanctuary in Nigeria's Cross River state. The sanctuary is part of a drill conservation project set up by Peter Jenkins and Liza Gadsby from Portland, Oregon. Drills (Mandrillus leucophaeus) are among Africa's most endangered mammals. Listed by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as the highest conservation priority of all African primates, they are found only in Nigeria's Cross River state and in one part of southwestern Cameroon. A sub-species is found in Equatorial Guinea. Drills are under pressure from hunters and from loggers going further into the forests of the region

There`s huge tourism potential in Nigeria, only that it`s underdeveloped.

every part of nigeria is open to tourism. (doesn't mean i would go to the niger delta) the safest city is Abuja. than (in my opinion) it would be Calabar, Port Harcourt, than lagos. Nigeria is safe if go to the right places.

Actually, I would consider Lagos much safer than Port Harcourt (particularly for expatriates). Overall, Abuja and Calabar (and the North generally) are the safest parts of Nigeria. Just returned from the month-long biggest street party in Africa that is the Calabar Carnival and it was something else.

i was in calabar as well. loved it. i have to disagree about the north though. they may not steal from you but they could suddenly decide to behead you over some sharia nonsense

I would say you have to be very prepared before going on your journey. I was told Nigerians are one of the friendliest people on earth but you don't have to be scared of every news that comes out of the journals,tv,etc.

Port is larger but calabar is neater and safer. I think there are also way more tourist attractions in calabar. PH is juz all about business and oil. So if u wanna tour oil industry n business stuff, then...
