This is a Metro or a light rail system?

this isn't realli a MRT system
its more of a connecting rail from Tainan Train Station, which is located near city center; to the HSR station which is 20 min drive from the city

The MRT for Tainan was proposed back in the 80s and 90s
construction actually started a decade ago, the digging on the rail+underground shopping mall.

However with serouis corruption and lack of city growth the project has been postoned.. or canceled? The construction site has been partly sealed up and r now being used as parking lots

Being from Tainan I say the city will never need a MRT system like Kaohsiung or Taipei.
Its not a key financial strong hold, and there simply isn't enough popluation..
Tainan is a city past its prime, so i realli dun c the point of wastin all that $, i rather have the municiple government spend the $ else where

Every major city in Taiwan needs a MRT and that includes Tainan.

Poor infrastructure has plagued Taiwan for decades.

cause i can gurantee you that no one will ride them in tainan
before they go ahead w a mtr system, they mite wanna expand their bus service first
