The other day i saw documentary about this Gymnasium/Arena in TVE. I was stunned with the beautiful roof and the overall volume of it, so i wanted to share some pictures and see what you think. The architect was Kenzo Tange.

That's pretty wild, but really dark and dreary inside.

I already know the capacity of the Yoyogi Main Gymnasium, but I don't know much about its sub arena.

I know that in the second-to-last photo the ice hockey rink is distanced from the stands. That is because the Gymnasium was originally built as the aquatics venue for the 1964 Summer Olympics.

Kenzo Tange ruled. One of the prettier arenas ever put together, the Nervi ones from the 1960 olympics are wonderful too, maybe better, though not nearly as dramatic.
