Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) is expanding its Robinsons Place Bacolod, the first full-service mall in Bacolod 14 years ago, to add the first park-like lifestyle center in Negros.

“Robinsons Place Bacolod remains as one of the most lucrative and successful mall in the region and this expansion is meant to ensure that it remains that way by keeping pace with the growth and changes in the community,” said RLC vice president for lease Lourdes T. Alano.

The expansion program will add over 6,000 square meters to the shopping center’s existing gross floor area of 48,500 sqm. with the construction of a new one-level shopping and dining destination.

Alano said construction is expected to be completed by early next year and the new area will be fully operational by the second quarter of 2011.

Currently, Robinsons Place Bacolod is highly patronized by locals residing in Bacolod City and nearby towns and cities. It houses over 90 tenants, who have been operating inside the mall for over 10 years.

The Bacolod mall recently underwent renovation which included mall improvements, food court redevelopment, expansion of Robinsons Appliances and Robinsons Handyman and opening of a Toys R' Us branch.

Alano said the expansion will allow the mall to open its doors to more business opportunities and to give more shopping and dining options to its growing market base.

The expansion is basically aimed to strengthen the current customer base being served by Robinsons by offering more choices that are not catered to by the existing mall.

Alano said the new area will have a park-like setup with lighted pathways surrounded by well-landscaped gardens with five clusters of commercial spaces consisting of lifestyle stores and mid-to-high-end alfresco restaurants.

“Currently we are receiving a lot of tenant inquiries from local entrepreneurs and other national retailers,” added Alano.

The first cluster will be an expansion of the Robinsons Department Store; the second and fourth clusters will feature fashion boutiques, amusement outlets and specialty foods restaurants; the third cluster will have more restaurants and specialty services; while the fifth cluster will feature various lifestyle options.

Aside from alfresco dining, unique features in the expanded mall will include an outdoor activity area that will serve as venue for concerts and events, as well as a Blue Water Plaza featuring water jets that will allow visitors to frolic in the water.

“For Robinsons Place Bacolod to stay ahead of its game, it will be growing with the community. It is part of Robinsons Land’s commitment, to be with the community in this period of growth,” said Alano.

Construction is targeted for completion by early next year and the additional complex is slated to be fully operational in the second quarter of 2011.

“Robinsons Place Bacolod remains as one of the most lucrative and successful malls in the region and this expansion is meant to ensure that it remains that way by keeping pace with the growth and changes in the community,” said Lourdes T. Alano, RLC vice-president for lease.

I think the Gokongweis are just being doubly cautious this time around with their planned expansion at RPB, they already made some miscalculation when they built the Robinsons Metro across the old airport in which their dept. store and supermarket closed after operating for just a short time but it's a good thing Teletech came along to lease part of the building and they renamed it Robinsons Cybergate.....just my 4 sentimos ...:)

The first branch of Go Hotels is located at the fifth and sixth floors of Robinsons Cybergate Plaza along EDSA in Mandaluyong City.

MANILA, Philippines - What can P400 buy these days? A new pair of shoes, maybe, or the latest paperback bestseller. There are a number of possibilities, but a night’s stay at a decent hotel may not be one of them — until now.

Imagine an air-conditioned room, with a 22-inch LCD television, and free wireless Internet access for only P388 a night. It’s a dream made a reality by Go Hotels.

Dubbed the first chain of value hotels in the Philippines, Go Hotels has a variable pricing scheme much like Cebu Pacific’s budget fares. With this system, booking early will result in a lower rate for a room, while walk-ins will be charged a higher fee.

What the hotel does provide is a one-use sachet of shampoo, a tiny one-use bar of soap, two bath towels, and a choice between chiropractic-contoured pillows and hypoallergenic fiber-filled pillows, said Liz Gregorio, general manager of Go Hotels.

She added that every yellow and green-themed room has either twin beds or one queen-sized bed. Rooms also have a desk, and both a rainshower and handheld showerhead. Chairs come with the desk in rooms with a queen-sized bed.

Each Go Hotels’ room is equipped with quality bed with choice of hypoallergenic fiber-filled pillows or chiropractic-contoured pillows and offers Wi-Fi and use of safety de-posit box.

But perhaps one of the most important considerations in staying in a hotel is the bathroom. Go Hotels’ toilets are top of the line, and the bathroom is spacious.

Another consideration is eating inside the rooms. Gregorio said the practice is discouraged partly to keep the rooms clean.

“Every floor, the 5th and the 6th, where the rooms are, has an eating area with seats and tables in the lobby,” she said, adding that the eating areas have a seating capacity of 30 to 50 people, and that they never have a problem because the guests don’t eat at the same time.

Guests aren’t complaining either. An American visiting the Philippines is staying at the hotel, and he said, “The staff is doing good. I have no problems with the hotel.”

Indeed, the staff members in their yellow and green-collared shirts were very attentive and helpful. The staff attire at the hotel is casual and breeds an atmosphere that makes the hotel employees seem very approachable.

“We are very confident and positive about this development that we hope to take this around the country,” said Frederick Go, adding that Robinsons Land Corp. is planning to open hotels in every province in the country to address the huge demand and lack of proper accommodation for travelers.

Pasig City Mayor Benjamin Abalos Jr., in his speech at the hotel launch, said Go Hotels is promoting local tourism by offering such cheap rates.

“People will flock to the provinces instead of going abroad,” he said, adding that in the wake of the tragedy at the Quirino Grandstand, “We must help our country.”

The first branch of Go Hotels is located at the fifth and sixth floors of the 17-story Robinsons Cybergate Plaza, beside Robinsons Mall Pioneer, along EDSA.

Robinsons Land Corp. is planning to open 30 more hotels in the next five years, starting with branches in Bacolod and Dumaguete in 2011, Palawan, Iloilo, Davao, Tacloban, and Cebu in 2012, and Ilocos Norte, Butuan, Zamboanga, General Santos, and Pangasinan in 2013.

Robinsons to build third Cebu mall, eyes more budget hotels


CEBU CITY -- Gokongwei-led Robinsons Land Corp. will start construction of a new mall in Cebu in February next year.

The planned shopping mall, which will have a gross leasable area of 27,000 square meters, will be part of a mixed-use complex to be called Robinsons Cebu Maxilom. The mall is expected to open in the third quarter of 2012.

Lourdes T. Alano, vice-president for lease, said the mall will rise on a 4.6-hectare property acquired by Robinsons Land from the Cebu city government two years ago. A master plan for the property on Gen. Maxilom Avenue in the Cebu north reclamation area, is being drawn up and will be completed before the end of the year.

Provisions are also being made for a hotel, a museum containing the Gokongwei family’s memorabilia, and residential towers. It will be Robinsons’ first mixed-use complex in Cebu.

The company owns and operates Robinsons Place Cebu, a four-level mall with more than 50 stores, and Robinsons Cybergate Cebu, a mixed-use seven-storey building registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) for business process outsourcing office spaces and medical tourism facilities in Cebu. Cybergate also hosts specialty shops, banks and restaurants.

“We will be offering something different at the Maxilom. It will have garden and al fresco developments,” Ms. Alano said.

The new Cebu mall is part of Robinsons Land’s aggressive expansion nationwide. The property firm will open next year malls in Calasiao, Pangasinan and Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

In the Visayas, the company is also expanding its malls in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental and in Tacloban, Leyte.

“Tacloban opened only in June last year. It’s doing well so we’re expanding,” Ms. Alano said in a briefing here as part of a press tour of the company’s projects in Cebu. An additional 4,500 sq.m. of area for lease will be made available in Tacloban.

In Bacolod, a new single-level shopping and dining center will add over 6,000 sq.m. to the current gross floor area of 48,500 sq.m. of Robinsons Place Bacolod. Construction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year.

Other malls that are undergoing redevelopment and expansion are Robinsons Place Manila, Robinsons Galleria in Ortigas Center, and Robinsons Metro East in Pasig.

The company is also building budget hotels under the brand Go Hotels in Bacolod and Tacloban as well as in Dumaguete in Negros Oriental.

The firm is looking for a property to be developed into a budget hotel in Cebu while a massive renovation of the lobby and 212 guestrooms of Cebu Midtown Plaza is being undertaken, Ms. Alano said. Cebu Midtown, located in the same building as Robinsons Place Cebu, will be rebranded as Summit Circle.

Robinsons Land also owns the Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn in Ortigas Center and Summit Ridge in Tagaytay. The company is also engaged in the development of residential condominiums and communities as well as office buildings. -- Marites S. Villamor

talked to miss tintin of Robs, she said that they are going to work on the parking area at the back...what we see now, the area being fenced is the parking area...they will finsih it first before they will start with the expansion coz the entire back portion of Robs (the old parking ) will be their expansion. She said shes not sure yet if the hotel will be built simultaneously with the expansion but the CEO wants it done along with it :) lets hope it will push through :)

MANILA, Philippines - Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) is accelerating expansion across all its business segments with capital expenditures seen to rise by almost 40 percent this year to P9 billion in a move aimed at further boosting its presence and securing profitable long-term growth.

RLC president and chief operating officer Frederick Go said the company is building four malls and two office buildings this year to take advantage of a growing economy and steady inflows from Filipinos living and working abroad. Among the new malls scheduled for construction this year are in Pangasinan, Palawan, New Manila and Cebu, he said.

“We are very optimistic about the real estate industry. There is general confidence in the economy and the growing business process outsourcing sector and OFW remittances are supporting consumer spending,” Go said.

Go said the programmed capital budget, which is significantly higher than the P6.5 billion spent last year, excludes special land acquisitions that the company intends to pursue to capitalize on strong demand for residential properties. The company is looking to acquire two parcels of land in Metro Manila to be developed for office space.

For hotels, RLC plans to put up a total of 30 Gohotels in and outside Metro Manila over a five year period. Programmed for opening this year are in Bacolod and Dumaguete. The next sites will rise Palawan, Iloilo, Cebu, and Tacloban for 2012 and Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte, Zamboanga, Batanes, and Gensan in 2013.

RLC is looking to expand overseas to further augment revenues. A planned stock rights offering of 1.3 billion shares, with a current market value of about P18.07 billion, is being planned within the first half this year to fund land acquisition, project construction and development, possible expansion in China and other general corporate purposes.

The rights offering shares will come from a planned capital hike from P3 billion to P8.2 billion of which 25 percent or P1.3 billion (at par value of one peso per share) will be subscribed and at least P325 million will be paid by way of the stock rights offering.RLC earlier said the increase in capital would give it “flexibility to access the equity capital markets in the future since the subscribed capital has almost reached the authorized capital stock.”

The company has offered to develop the 103-hectare Food Terminal Inc. (FTI) property in Taguig into a modern, world-class mixed-use development.

RLC has four integrated large-scale mixed use developments in Ortigas, Manila, Mandaluyong and in the future Magnolia Complex in Quezon City.

RLC is the property arm of taipan John Gokongwei’s listed flagship firm JG Summit Holdings Inc., one of the country’s largest conglomerates with diverse interests in branded consumer food, agro-industrial and commodity food products, textile, telecommunications, petrochemicals, air transportation and financial services.

MANILA, Philippines - Robinsons Place Bacolod reflects the unique lifestyle of Bacolod, which is known as the City of Smiles. In Bacolod, people don’t go to the mall just to run errands or hurriedly buy food and other necessities. Most often, a trip to the mall is with the entire family, for dinner and a screening at Robinsons Movieworld, which has a 3D cinema. Children, even teenagers, spend Sundays with their families (going out with friends is done on Saturday) and everyone wants to go to the mall to eat, walk around and enjoy the company of their family.

Robinsons Place Bacolod, located on Lacson St., Mandalagan, has over 134 stores and restaurants, and six cinemas. The mall is near Silay City, which is home to many historical landmarks including the Victor Fernandez Gaston Heritage House, Manuel Severino Hofileña Heritage House, and the Bernardino Lopez Jalandoni Ancestral House.

It is also minutes away from the new Bacolod Silay Airport, making it a good stop for visitors to buy pasalubong on their way home.

Robinsons Place is Bacolod’s first full-service mall. Since it opened in 1997, it has gone from being a daily shopping experience to being the center of leisure and entertainment in the city.

Robinsons Place Bacolod is undergoing an expansion that, once completed, will add a new one-level shopping and dining destination and provide 6,000 square meters more to the shopping mall’s existing gross floor area of 48,500 square meters.

The expansion aims to give Robinsons Place Bacolod’s customer base more options in terms of dining and shopping. There will be gadget stores and specialty services shops that will offer dental and dermatological services, among others.

The new area, called The Central Citywalk, will have a park-like setup with lighted pathways surrounded by landscaped gardens with five clusters of commercial spaces consisting of lifestyle stores and mid-to high-end al fresco restaurants. Al fresco dining is a very new concept in Bacolod and this is the first time it is being introduced in such a grand scale.

There will be 35 tenants, 18 food outlets. The Central will also be home to homegrown stores like ANP, Fresh Start Organics Inc., House of Imbiss, The Green Tree Cafe, The Gym Kids, Salon U-Ropa Facial Care Centre, Virtu Salon, and Mendez Dental Clinic.

The first cluster will be an expansion of the Robinsons Department Store while the second and fourth clusters will feature specialty stores services shops, amusement outlets and specialty food restaurants. The third cluster will house more restaurants and specialty services while the fifth cluster will have various lifestyle options.

The Central Citywalk will also have scene-setting areas like the Blue Water Plaza with a clever fountain that jets water out at timed intervals; Lighted Chimneys, a dome-like structure that makes the mall a modern landmark; and a landscaped area with plant boxes and tropical plants.

The Blue Water Plaza is expected to be a magnet for visitors because it is where kids and adults can play and frolic. The Central Citywalk will open in the last quarter of 2011.

^^robs bacolod is a full service mall since 1997. the one on the pics is only an expansion at the back portion of the existing mall which is expected to be opened to the public by october.:)
