Oh man. I see that Poznan is slowly coming to skyscraper elite. The whole solid seems to be modern-looking, but some people screwed up a design. It's uniqe but really charmless. I hope this effect is gonna be reduced by some stuff. Good luck, Poznan.

I think it's great. It's far enough away from the old city - this may become Poznan's La Defense.

Does the building have approval yet? That is WZ and PB (Pozwolenia na Budowy)?

WZ is expected to be given next month. They have ie Civil Aviation Office approval.

The execution will make or break this design, it has the potential to look really good or not so much.

Will this officially be the tallest building in Poland?

I believe it will be for now, though of course there are those two 300m+ towers mooted in Warsaw.

Still, quite a few skylines in the making around Poland, early days yet, but promising.

The design isn't beautiful, but interesting...I'm not sure if i like it though, the design is too boxy IMO, though the facade structuring with the protruding elements is very interesting and certainly very different from the average facade on modern highrise buildings.
What fascinates me is how Poland is booming in terms of skyscraper construction , since they're 3 cities now that have skyscrapers over 200m U/C or approved (Warsaw, Wroclaw, and Poznan) and one more (Gdansk) has a highrise over 200m (http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=66364|Brama Wolnosci) proposed
(according to SSP/http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?searchID=38113810)

I used my brain and I was trying to find simlar project build or planned in the other sides of the world. Tell me if Im wrong but I couldnt find anything like this tower. Unique project. For sure this tower could became to Poznan most famous landmark. I really keep the finger cross for it, to change it from the project into construction site.

The funniest is that my former home place is located almost underneath this tower. Pity that I moved out from there - you lost the daily update :)

EDIT: One thing is still strange for me. 240 m to the roof gives 4,36 per each floor. Despite the fact that it will be multifunction building its still a lot.

It can not stand near city center because Ławica airport is situated too close of center. In city center you can build only 130 m height building. Probably in near future in neighbourhood of Poznań Forum there stand other tall buildings. I hope so.

well. i think this feature is kind of advantage. Poznan's got a quite nice city center and tall buildings shouldn't be located there. I hope it's gonna be like in Wroclaw, where skyscrapers will be placed in circles, away from main old center.

I like combination of modern and classic architecture. For example when skyscraper is situated next to ancient tenement house, so I do not see nothing wrong to situated skyscrapers in city center. Now you can see four tall buildings in Poznań's city center and two are in plans. I do not see nothing wrong to situated skyscrapers in various places in city too but conception to situated skyscrapers in one or two places is better for me.

OH GOD !! It is to be build just in front of my windows :-/
this will spoil the panorama I have :-(

a bad location for a skyscraper....
sky scrapers should be located not far from one another to create a nice skyline,
or anyway: not to be placed in random locations for sure!

why can't they build over existing railway in city centre?
that is the best place available!! all trains will go underground (they are in huge cut at the moment)
and we'll have a supreme NewCityCentre

Airplanes fly right above the city centre and the place @sampras suggests is Wolne Tory (in english Free Rails?). There aren't airplanes flying above this area.

^^ if you check in googlemaps you will see that planes fly more or less above Towarowa Street in Railway Station area.
Keeping that in mind it is possible imho that taller buildings can be build both: North and South from that point (in the distance required by Air Legislation)
What is more, it is also possible to make the approach 'steeper'

Poznań Forum będzie jednym z największych budynków w Polsce. Drapacz chmur, który ma stanąć pomiędzy rondami Starołęka i Żegrze, będzie liczyć 240 m wysokości (wraz z wieżą 285 m). Zaprojektował go hiszpański architekt Jesus Marco Llombart.

Wybudują go hiszpańscy inwestorzy Manuel Gomez Landeira i Manuel Anon. Pierwszy z nich już od 40 lat stawia hotele, biura i centra handlowe, głównie w Hiszpanii i Wenezueli. Drugi działa w sektorze metalurgicznym i bankowym.

W grudniu wydział urbanistyki i architektury Urzędu Miasta wydał Hiszpanom warunki zabudowy.

it has also the potential to look like building placed in wrong place.
During communist era in Poland it was common to place high buildings in strange and empty places. Is that the return to this way of planning? There are no high buildings anywhere near! This whole idea shi##.
I wouldn't mind probably if this was to be placed in city centre.
Unfortunately lack of planning in Poznan results in odd decisions (I thing that bribing authorities to let you build anything anywhere is as simple as buying rolls in a market)
