This is actually a renovation and expansion of the old Palmeiras' stadium, what explains its asymmetric ends. I wonder if having to adapt to such an old and outdated stadium will really be worth it:

Tomás Taveira designed the new project. Given his past works, it's tantalizing to imagine what the result would be if he could have started from scratch.

I´m a Palmeiras fan and I don´t like this new stadium.

waaaaaaayyyy to small for 2014, specially if San Paulo, will most likely host the openning match or a semifinal.

even as a secondary venue, so its a 42,000 stadium, but with all the media, security, vip, etc, this stadium will be in the 35-38,000 range for the world cup. In germany many stadiums lost something like 3-6,000 thousand seats.

The bowl should be steeper and close to the pitch. The rest looks nice.

I'm undecided as to whether i like this stadium. Firstly the actual bowl I like it's very original I like the smaller second tier and the tiers imbetween the first and second tier it’s very different but asymmetrically goes well. I also like the use of multicolored colouring on the features of the stadium. And I also like the differing shape of the stadium. But I dislike some of the exterior and I hate the additional buildings in the area they are awful getting rid of them would make this a nicer arena I think.

I don't know what to think. At times it looks dressed to impress more than functional. It has its angles I guess. Too small for a world cup bidding city.
Definetly better than the old one.

the stadium that will host world cup matches has 80000 capacity, not this ugly one

I think this shows the problem Brazil have getting ready for 2014, the best thing for the WC is probabley to renovate some of the larger stadiums and keep the high capacity while the best thing for the clubs is to end up with mdoern 30-40,000 size facilties to try and attract the fans back.

who said this is supposed to be for the 2014 world cup??

what you mean with secondary venue? Each brazilian city will have one ONE venue.

Never seen anything like this before!

..Also as to the position of the pool's (piscina's) it looks like the pitch is being moved, or is it staying in the same place and they are getting rid of the curve down that end?

That's got to be the uglyest project ever made!!

Totally desapointing!

Considering we're talking about one of the 9 big teams in Brazil and the biggest city of Latin America I would expect much more!

It's gonna look like that awful Sporting Stadium, the Alvalade or something like that.

Please don't build this!

I love Palmeiras. When I went to Brasil, I bought some football shirts, and I Palmeiras shirt was the one I liked most.

Regarding this stadium, I dont like it very much. Perhaps the bad quality renders influence me, but well . . . this is my opinion.

it's already under construction , but just in the club
by july, the stadium will have already been closed, and palmeiras is going to play their games in pacaembu, until 2012

i don't think it should be in the "under construction" yet... ok, working has started, but only in the club multi-sports complex, not in the stadium.

the Palestra Italia Stadium still is 100% untouched, based on the New Arena investment plan.
