Any renders of the interior?
What will the capacity be?
GNU January 18th, 2008, 11:19 AM Bayer Leverkusen started out as a sport club for personnel of the Bayer company. Bayer still has a lot of influence today so it does make sense. They Bayer logo is also an important part of the Bayer Leverkusen crest.
But putting it on top of the stadium is just too much.
Aside from looking crappy itll create lots of irritating shadows on the pitch
Any renders of the interior?
What will the capacity be?
The cap of the "Hyllie Arena" will be 12,500
Here are two renders I just found:

staff May 29th, 2008, 11:30 PM I thought I'd include these two developments in Malmö;
Malmö Arena, Malmö | Under Construction
Location: Hyllie Station Sq., Malmö
Type: Mixed-Use (Multi Arena, Office, Retail)
Capacity: 15.000 people, 72 VIP boxes, 3.250 restaurant seats
Developer: Parkfast Arena AB (http://www.parkfast.se/)
Architect: Mats Matsson, Gert Wingårdh (http://wingardh.se/), Hannu Helkiö
Construction phase: 2007-2008
Renderings;

Malmö Arena will according to the developer be the "world's most modern multi-arena" when finished later this fall.
Carrerra May 29th, 2008, 11:52 PM I thought I'd include these two developments in Malmö;
What are the restaurant seats in Malmö Arena and Swedbank Stadion? Are they the ones where people watch the game over dinners? Are they a part of VIP boxes? If not how can the stadium/arena have thousands of restaurant seats? Judging from the renderings I don't see any room for thousands of restaurant seats.
Last question. Are the restaurant seats included in capacity - 15K for Malmö Arena and 24K for Swedbank Stadion?
Anyway thanks for the posting!
staff May 30th, 2008, 02:08 AM The restaurants are separate and not included in the capacity figures for neither stadium/arena. I think they are just regular restaurants in the same building, with some of the seats offering views of the pitch/rink.
One of the restaurants in Swedbank Stadion will be the largest restaurant in Sweden with 2000 seats.
Malmö Arena facts;
http://www.parkfast.se/_img/faktapop.jpg
As you can see, 1250 of the restaurant seats are in the VIP boxes (called loger in Swedish).
Fact page for Swedbank Stadion (http://www.mff.se/swedbankstadion/fakta.html).
staff May 30th, 2008, 10:56 AM ^^
The capacity during Swedish league ice hockey will be 12.500, but I'm not sure what it'll be during ice hockey world cups and handball world cups etc. Total capacity is 15.000.
Swedbank Stadion is not an all seater, as the supporter stand will have no seats. The capacity will be 21.000 during UEFA matches which is a bit low I think.
likasz November 12th, 2008, 06:24 PM What about Malmo Arena.I heard that it's almost done.Is it true/
AtlanticaC5 November 23rd, 2008, 03:12 PM Maybe a bit late, but figured I'd post some pics from the opening game of Malmö Arena (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malm%C3%B6_Arena) last week. It's considered to be one of the most modern indoor arenas in Europe, even the world according to some sports journalists. Anyway, I can tell you it was a really fresh arena, too bad the home team Malmö Redhawks kinda suck at the moment :( The capacity of the arena is 13,700 (15,000 at concerts).

A little over €100 million, can't remember the exact number.
cphdude November 25th, 2008, 06:05 PM Ehm....Whats wrong here...?
Neda Say November 25th, 2008, 06:37 PM A little over €100 million, can't remember the exact number.
I like it but 100 million euros for 12000 seats!!!! and 3500 seats in the restaurants!
staff January 7th, 2009, 03:11 PM I attended one of the qualification stage games of the Staffan Holmqvist Memorial "Pre-World Cup" Tournament in Malmö, and took some pics of Malmö Arena in "handball mode", with a smaller field and the upper tiers of the arena closed off.

Daaaamn. Why didn't they fill up these empty spaces between the stands and the court? It looks even vourse than in Zagreb. :eek:
I mean, the arena is great... but this kind of stuff realy anoys me. It can be solved with such ease, and when it's not, you get the feelng taat the resposible ones just don't care... :|
renco January 9th, 2009, 03:09 PM I like it but 100 million euros for 12000 seats!!!! and 3500 seats in the restaurants!
Thanks :okay:
More than ours,less than O2 Berlin.
@ Ballota:what does vourse means?
Ballota January 9th, 2009, 06:24 PM I meant WORSE! :D
staff January 10th, 2009, 02:13 PM The maximum capacity at ice hockey (the main use of the arena) is actually 13.800, which was the capacity at the first home game (attendance ~13.250) of the Malmö Redhawks. Please change the thread title! :)
Btw, at international events where only seats are allowed, the capacity is 12.500 (it does sound a bit low though).
Loranga January 10th, 2009, 10:03 PM Staff, do you mean that IIHF explicitly prohibits standing terraces at the World Championships of Hockey?
staff January 10th, 2009, 10:15 PM ^^
Honestly I have no idea, but it's my assumption that only seats are allowed during large international tournaments such as the WC in ice hockey or handball, no?
Loranga January 10th, 2009, 11:59 PM ^^
I am not sure about that, next Hockey World Champs will be played in Switzerland, and according to http://www.iihf.com/channels/iihf-world-championship-oc09/home/venues/berne/berne-stadium.html , there will be standing areas (you can even buy tickets already for standing areas), even if they will be much smaller than used in NLA.
When hockey junior world champs was played in Leksand/Mora in 2006/7, the arenas were in league configurations with standing terraces.
No idea about handball actually, but as far as I know, handball fans are usually not hooligans ;)
staff January 11th, 2009, 12:24 AM ^^
Alright, I didn't know that. In any case, the hockey capacity of Malmö Arena when it's all-seated should be 12.500.

staff February 20th, 2009, 12:04 PM Not directly related to the arena - but a fun fact:
Malmö Redhawks, the main tenant of Malmö Arena, is playing in the bottom half of the second division of Swedish hockey (ie. pretty low level) and the club went completely bankrupt about a month ago, but is over the last games averaging more than any hockey club in Sweden when it comes to average attendance. :lol:
dande February 20th, 2009, 05:10 PM Malmö Arena is superior to Globe arena when it comes to interior imo. If it had 5 000 more seats it would be nr. 1 in Sweden and top arena in Europe. Globe arena is still architectual marvel when it comes to exterior and overall feeling when you go inside. It´s a landmark in Stockholm and it would take a lot to tear it down in order to build a new bigger arena.

Do you mean the average over one game? Hehe, it was only against AIK they had full house again. Frölunda sells out Scandinavium more or less every game.
staff February 20th, 2009, 06:56 PM ^^
Yes, as I wrote I was referring to the last games as well as the upcoming games (against "provincial" clubs like Almtuna and Troja) which are sold out too. Not bad for a team in the bottom half of the 2nd division which is completely bankrupt and plays with basically a team of junior players. :)
Was it Köln that more or less filled the RheinEnergieStadion too when they were relegated to the Bundesliga 2?

Huskies August 2nd, 2009, 11:40 PM it looks like it has some sort of retractable seating in the lower part of the lower bowl. looking at the construktion pics the upper part is concrete and the lower part has not yet been built . looking at the finished pictures , the lower part appears to be wodden. can they retract and extract automatically or do you have to dissassembly them and rebuild them ?
Rausa August 3rd, 2009, 01:02 AM It's retractable seating, almost all modern indoor arenas have that so it becomes more multifunctional..
This is how it works

aah nice pic thanks :) does it require a huge engine or something to retract or do arena staff just remove some bolts and push it in ? and if it has an engine, is it under the floor or is it behind the retractable seating whith some sort of hydraulics ? do you have to remove every seat manually before retracting ? ( im thesigning an indoor arena as a school project , thats why i am curious ;) )
Indian Forever August 4th, 2009, 12:11 AM Similar to the O2 in london.

Theres both manual and electric versions, depends on manufacturer and size. Most manufacturers have folding seats that is then stored beetween the rows.
Here's a link to a company that has done some big installations, www.irwintelescopicseating.com, you can probably find more info there how it all works or here (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=telescopic+seating)..
And if your interested in desingning your own arenas/stadiums you should check out this thread (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=330977)
Huskies August 4th, 2009, 11:13 PM ^^ wow thanks !! :) that thread should really be in the stadiums and sports arena quick link section, would never have found it if it werent for you
