Kuvvaci July 7th, 2008, 02:28 PM nice but old style
krzysiu_ July 7th, 2008, 04:16 PM I don't like :/
lpioe July 7th, 2008, 04:55 PM I like it very much.
But whats up with the track? It doesn't look like you can host international athletic events here.
CiudadanoDelMundo July 7th, 2008, 07:54 PM I like it, old style is not a bad thing..imo:)
Carrerra July 8th, 2008, 03:13 AM Nice stadium! But what's the track around the field for? It has only 4 lanes, so it cannot hold any athletics events. I don't know the purpose of it. And, whose homeground will it be when completed?
michał_ July 8th, 2008, 03:48 AM one of the ugliest designs I've seen in recent years and surely the worst when it comes to big international events...
Jim856796 July 8th, 2008, 07:21 AM This stadium may be used for the 2013 Summer Universiade. Football (soccer) is a sport in the Universiade.
Carrerra July 8th, 2008, 07:36 AM This stadium may be used for the 2013 Summer Universiade. Football (soccer) is a sport in the Universiade.
Look at the renders closely. The track has only 4 lanes! How can they hold athletics event there?
Bobby3 July 8th, 2008, 07:43 AM Movable stands possibly?
But yea, if you can't move the stand to make a bigger track than this design makes NO sense.
skyboi July 8th, 2008, 07:50 AM movable grass (turd )maybe (?) cause when you do track and field you don't need grass anyway , if that's the case then it doesn't look so bad ,nice and modern as well
Carrerra July 8th, 2008, 08:22 AM movable grass (turd )maybe (?) cause when you do track and field you don't need grass anyway , if that's the case then it doesn't look so bad ,nice and modern as well
That doesn't make sense either. If the ground itself is shrinked to make room for additional lanes, what happens to track's extended length? I mean I doubt whether it keeps being 400 meters, which is essential for track event.
skyboi July 8th, 2008, 08:34 AM Well then it's the other way around ,with these things you just twist and turn to adjust to your need , just like in Canada and the US, one arena you can use for both hockey and basket ball that's what we call state of the art nowday
Kaspers July 8th, 2008, 08:53 AM I love it!
Steel City Suburb July 8th, 2008, 08:49 PM A doughnut shape. I don't like it, 2 of the sides, I feel, should be closer to the track.
dudu24 July 8th, 2008, 09:01 PM And, whose homeground will it be when completed? FC Rubin Kazan, currently leading team in Russian league. They got few familiar names in their squad.
Tim999 July 8th, 2008, 09:09 PM nice but old style
yes...good heavens! According to me it preferably looks like the revovation of the old stadium and it is similar to the stadium in Berlin. Otherwise the visualizatons aren't good.
nemtirev July 8th, 2008, 09:19 PM Nice project.
St.Petersburg,Moscow(Lokomotiv,Luzhniki)... Kazan.Who is next?
dudu24 July 8th, 2008, 09:40 PM New Khimki will be finished soon.

Old school English type of stadium :) Not bad for a small club like Khimki.
Jim856796 July 10th, 2008, 03:19 AM Look at the renders closely. The track has only 4 lanes! How can they hold athletics event there?
I meant the stadium can be used for football matches in the Universiade. The main stadium was already announced: Central Stadium (30,000 capacity).
lpioe July 10th, 2008, 11:31 AM ^^ But then I wonder why they have this small track at all?
Especially if there is another stadium in the city with a track.
Nneznajka July 10th, 2008, 06:47 PM ^^ They planned the new stadium in a hurry ! There will be little changes in the final design :naughty: :cheers1:
Bahnsteig4 July 10th, 2008, 06:58 PM I like it. It's a classical design, not trying to be spectacular.
sapmi July 11th, 2008, 12:22 AM Tracks??? :ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno:

krzysiu_ November 1st, 2008, 06:42 PM :puke:
berkshire royal November 1st, 2008, 07:06 PM The Kazan stadium really is a very big disappointment when you compare this to the new stadium Zenit, Spartak and CSKA are building.
The team is almost certainly going to win the league and the club appears to be growing all the time, you would have thought that they would be building a more impressive stadium then this. When is construction planned to start? And also does anyone know how far the pitch is from the stands, the running track looks a bit strange?
Dzwonsson November 1st, 2008, 09:41 PM ^^ Concerning future of the team and vision of it's new stadium I have to agree with you. They ought to show something really fresh and impressive. Visualisation that we got seems to be disagreement if we're looking at this club and it's propably way of growing.
NEWWORLD November 1st, 2008, 09:58 PM I like the first few pictures better than the one above! stadium can turn out to be real nice depending on what the material of the roof will be. Anyways nice stadium!
plasticterminator November 3rd, 2008, 08:07 PM RUBIN KAZAN new champions of Russia with three rounds still to go!
Would be nice to see a different type of stadium but thats my opinion.
Outcaster February 11th, 2009, 04:10 PM This is only football stadium. Render is wrong. It's said in press-conference. Track & Field competitions will be on Central Stadium (30,133).
Also Kazan have one more stadium - Rubin (10,000). On this stadium played Rubin-2 & Rubin-U21.
For other Universiade's events has TatNeft Arena (home for Ak Bars - ice-hockey, capacity - 10,000), Basket Hall (home for UNICS - basketball, Zenit - volleyball, capacity - 7,500), Sport Saray (old home for Ak Bars, capacity - 3,400), Hockey Center Dinamo (it's only one especially for "summer" hockey arena in Russia, 6,000), Little Arena of Sport Saray (1,500), Little Arena of Basket-Hall (2,500) & others
We Are The Champions!!!

Are there any new ones?
poxuy July 15th, 2009, 04:58 PM Are there any new ones?
There are about 7 pretendents for final project (can't find all renders). One of them is this one:

http://i042.radikal.ru/0906/42/ce8131e6bbf1.jpg
and there are rumors that it can be increased to 52000.
But don't worry. This is the stadium of Universiade 2013, which is one of top constructions along with Sochi 2014 and APEC 2012 in Vladivostok; so it will be build in 2012 without delay, year before Universiade.
Bogus Law July 15th, 2009, 07:21 PM ok, thx. Is there any deadline when the ultimate design will be known?
poxuy July 24th, 2009, 03:25 AM ok, thx. Is there any deadline when the ultimate design will be known?
Yes, July 27th. Now 4 candidates remained:
1) Austrian holding "Alpine Bau Deutschland GmbH" ("Allianz Arena" in Munich)
2) Consortium of "Glavmosstroy" and American architectural company "HOK International Ltd"
3) Consortium of British designing company "ARUP" and industrial-building association "Kazan" ("Bird's Nest" in Beijing)
4) Consortium of "Mosproject-4" and holding "Ingeocom"

K-Lex March 13th, 2010, 03:05 PM Sochi 2014 stadium architects to design Universiade 2013 football stadium
The international architectural design bureau Populous that jointly with Mosproekt-4 developed the architectural concept of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, will design a stadium for the World Summer Universiade 2013. The Universiade executive directorate general director in Kazan Vladimir Leonov told it to Tatar-inform.
The US-based Populous architectural bureau designed the Olympic stadium in Melbourne and is implementing a similar project in London, for the 2012 Olympics. Besides, Populous will work on a stadium design for the 17th Asian Games, to be held in Korea’s Incheon.
According to Vladimir Leonov, the management company for the Football Stadium Kazan project, to be constructed in the Novo-Savinov district of Kazan, will be the Russian firm Inteks, the management company of the Bolshoi Theatre reconstruction. Inteks is part of a consortium with the large architectural firm Populous. The company that has separated from HOK (attending to Sochi 2014) and specialises in sports facilities. The general contractor of the stadium seating 45 thousand will be Tatinvestgrazhdanproekt, while Tsnooprozdaniy will do the design as well.
The Universiade 2013 director said the development and approval of the project’s graphic design will be completed by mid March. The project documents are scheduled to be finalised in late November. “Before the end of 2010, the design of football stadium will be completed, while the project is to be commissioned one year before the Universiade 2013 in Kazan”, noted Leonov. About 5.670 million roubles will be spent on building the stadium.
According to Vladimir Leonov, the stadium will be used to hold the opening and closing ceremonies of the World Student Games 2013, which is why it is very important to make it multifunctional. “We are facing the task to make the football stadium a state-of-the-art one in the existing network of football arenas. With that, it should be unique and practical, which is important,” enhanced the director.
The sports facility is designed to seat 45 thousand. The stadium, compliant with the FIFA’s 5-star facilities standard, will allow to hold sports competitions of the highest international ranking, semi-finals and pre-match games at European and world championships.

lucyjannero November 11th, 2010, 11:41 AM Nice design but not too attractive design, i think looks like same of other design not looks different from other stadium. all over great location and nice other utilities. walking way and other side design are really good and very proper. but main structure is quite old.

Crimea is an autonomous state within the republic of Ukraine, and while native Russians are the majority, this does not make Crimea a russian Island.

Formally, the Crimea in 1991 is part of Ukraine, but judging by the opinion of the majority of the population, they believe Crimea Russian territory and want to return to Russia.

Just by considering how different the crimean demographic makeup has been in different phases of the past 100 years only, and how it keeps changing, it would be unwise to start an argument who it belongs to or who it doesn't. Nevertheless such discussion has nothing to do with this forum either. Please stay focused on the topic.

how come "russian region"? it is part of ukraine or not? Doesnt metter if the majority of people living there are russian or if they have administrative autonomy, Crimea is part of Ukraine. From the historical point of view it is more tatar then russian or ukrainian

On the Central Stadium in Kazan (campacity 30 000 people). Now it is a home stadium of FC "Rubin Kazan".

For Universiade 2013 will built New Stadium (45 000). It can be extended to 60 k only for Football World Cup 2018. For Uni 2013 will be normal roof. For WC 2018 may have retractable (but I dont think so)
Central Stadium will be left without changes. (30 000)

Konig January 8th, 2011, 12:29 PM ^^Which 60000? This is nonsense Kazan storytellers.
We have over them all laugh. They consider their city the third capital of Russia, though in fact Kazan - a large village. The highest attendance Rubin ever was in 2009, an average of 18000 -). Why do they need 60,000? The best football city of the Volga region - is Samara.
KS Samara never was a champion of Russia, but their old stadium each year collects full capacity, and the average attendance was at 30000, they were the most visited clubs in Eastern Europe a few years.
alwn January 9th, 2011, 10:55 PM konig
however kazan has 1 mill population and a competitive team. 60 k is not too much for a city with 1 mill inhabitants. Ok, they had a low attendance but a new modern stadium could even double the spectators (see Shakhtar Donetk)
Konig January 10th, 2011, 03:47 PM to alwn
Rubin was 2 times in a row champion of Russia. They have one of the best stadiums (for now). Attendance at them is not growing, 'cause there is no football tradition. They had only once a full stadium for these 3 years, when Barcelona came and everything. It's a shame.
Shakhtyor incorrectly compared with Rubin. In Donetsk, in Soviet times, consistently going for the football audience is 40-50000. Besides Moscow and St. Petersburg, most football cities in Russia: Samara, Krasnodar, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don and Voronezh. Kazan is not included even in the top ten, it is more a hockey city. Although lately, even on hockey occupancy rate stands around 50%.
alwn January 10th, 2011, 07:59 PM Konig
of course you know better the situation from russia then me. And i have to admitt you are one of the most informed football fan that i met.
However i have my arguments too:
1. from what i watch on Tv, the current Central stadium from kazan doesnt look so great. Athletic truck, not so good view to the pitch, only maybe 20 % of the stands covered, awful pitch in early spring.. When i mean a modern football stadium has to be with 80-100 % of the stands covered, no athtletic truck stands close to the pitch, other facilities..
2. I didnt make a comparision between Shakhtar Donetk and Rubin Kazan. I just gave this example Donetk because after they completed the new arena the attendance almost doubled from 16-19k before to 34k, for the ukrainian championship. I could give you much more examples from Europe where the attendance rose with 50-100% after the team moved in a new arena. You can check Slavia Prague, teams from portugal (benfica, sporting, porto, braga, guimaraes), Bayern Munchen, Leverkusen, Hannover, Salzburg.. So this rulle will apply also in Kazan, no metter the football tradition. Is about the facilities for the public.
3. You said kazan doesnt have a football tradition rather they are known for Ice Hockey. But what you need to build a tradition? Time spent in the top and good results. They had already great results, champions twice in a row, played in Champions League beating Barcelona in Camp Nou.. and everything was achieved with a team build in time, not with hundreds of millions spent in famous players. Only a long term project, good work, modesty and .. Kurban Berdiyev. Maybe they need more time and results to build a strong football tradition in Kazan, but they are getting close.
4. You said that kazan is a Hockey city but a city with one million people could support both football and hockey as well.
Konig January 10th, 2011, 09:47 PM to alwn
1) You are wrong in fact 50% of the stands under the roof. At the moment, Russia has only 3 stadiums better (Luzhniki, Lokomotiv and Arena Khimki).
2) Clubs, which you mentioned have a tradition, in the old stadium gathered enough fans. Rubin 15-20 years ago, even in Russia, no one knew they were collecting a maximum of 1000-2000 fans.
3) I would not speak about their modesty ... We all know that at least their first title in 2008 was purchased. About Berdiev say only that he was a typical oriental man with his tricks.
4) You know, 10 years ago in Kazan was only 2 clubs in major leagues in different team sports. Then they got the oil money and they began to create clubs in all sports, buy the best players, coaches, build stadiums to money from federal budget. In Kazan, many clubs for this population: Ak Bars (hockey), Rubin (football), UNICS (basketball), Zenit (Volley), Dinamo (Volley), Raketa (Russian hockey), Sintez (water polo) and others.
This is only hatred for Kazan. During Soviet times, Moscow did the same(Spartak, Dinamo and CSKA).
What to say if the house when Rubin plays with the Moscow clubs and Zenit, then I hear on television that several thousand fans of the guest is completely choke 10-15000 local, makes the guest matches for players Rubin. It pleases me, but for them it is a shame.
I am sure that when they run out of oil, then they come back in 3 leagues, and their place will be, for example, Rotor Volgograd.
alwn January 11th, 2011, 12:07 AM konig
as i said i can't know all the details from russian football. I watch sometimes russian prem league on our Tv station and the level is very high. Very spectacular football!
about Rotor it was a good team. I watched against nantes 3-2 and i remember they eliminated Man United 0-0, 2-2 in old trafford
I think you have also a good stadium in ramenskoye and anyway russia will be full of new stadiums in few years
Tell me, second division (first division) is broadcasted live also?

Konig January 11th, 2011, 11:10 AM to alwn

Yes, we know that Dan Petrescu trains Kuban. He was there a real hero, has even been nicknamed SuperDan. Here is his interview with the Krasnodar TV after winning the championship

alwn January 11th, 2011, 08:46 PM Konig
great to watch dan petrescu at the russian TV!. Is just an impression but he starts to understand a little bit russian language
in Romania he succeded maybe the bigest surprise from the history of the romanian league. He won the national title with a very small team Unirea Urziceni. I will tell you something about Unirea.
Urziceni is a small and poor town with only 17.000 population. Never in the romanian football history such a small town got the championship. Until 2002 they never played even in second division. Petrescu came in Urziceni in early 2007 when the team which played for the first time in Liga 1 was struggled to avoid the relegation. He build a good team but not with big money with hard working players not so famous and in 2008/2009 he won the title against dinamo bucuresti a great surprise. Unirea played in champions league too achieving the best romanian performance 8 points, not enough pass the groups. After dan petrescu leaving in early 2010 the team went down slowly and got into the collaps just after matches against zenit. Without Petrescu they couldnt eliminate Zenit even with a little chance in sankt petersburg..
So what i say is that kuban could be a big surprise in russia next season, maybe even a Europa League spot
Cirdan January 12th, 2011, 02:34 AM to alwn

Attendance is growing. They used to have ~11k in their first couple of RPL seasons, in their first Championship season they had 18k, now ~14k. And compared to other Russian clubs, their attendance is not not that bad - Samara has more, Zenit has more, Spartak has more, but that's pretty much it. Maybe Vladikavkaz and/or Krasnodar, if they play 1st division, but not by much. Rostov and Volgograd both have worse attendances than Kazan these days.
However I completely agree that 60k is way too much. Even if they double their current average (which I find ambitious, but not completely out of the picture), they won't need more than ~40-45k.
And a 60k seater in a city with a metropolitan area of around 1 mio people is far from normal - look at Western European cities of a similar size: Lille, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Porto, even Torino - all with more football history, all except Porto in bigger leagues and with higher attendances, the French cities will only get ~40-50k seaters for EURO 2016, Juve builds a 40k seater, Porto got a ~50k seater for EURO 2000. So 40-50k is the usual for a city of Kazans size with an established club in a big league. The 45k seater they plan is plenty ambitious, building a 60k seater would be begging for it to become a white elefant.
Konig January 12th, 2011, 04:09 PM to alwn
Of course, I know that Dan did with Unirea. This proves that he is a true professional, for his money is not important. In Krasnodar, while the Europa League no one says they will be happy even 14 position in a RPL in the first season. They had never in its history, did not stay in the top league is more than 1 season. Even one of the nicknames of Kuban - "lift".
to Cirdan
You're right, but for the club-champion 14-18000 is very low. In Volgograd, 30-40000 gathered during the economic crisis 1990th.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-nvFIfcXZg&feature=related
Rostov in Soviet times, had 2 clubs, who gathered to 30000 each. Legendary Rostov`s footballer Viktor Ponedelnik scored a golden goal in the first Euro 1960.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZqHBIpWQGQ&feature=related
Kazan until that has only a few bags of money and nothing else.
alwn January 12th, 2011, 11:14 PM Koenig
D Petrescu doesnt like to lose and is no way to play for the relegation only..
He will not be happy with 14th rank, he will play for europa league even from the first season on premiere league.
In Romania with Urziceni he always liked to play the role of a small team with small objectives and at the end he won the title.
Sometimes history is not relevant, you will see..
On the other hand Petrescu always complains about referees (like Mircea Lucescu from Donetk) even when it is not the case. He likes to play the "victim" role and it's becoming tiring
Anyway please book a europa league spot for Kuban in 2012
Konig January 13th, 2011, 10:49 AM to alwn
I'll be glad if Kuban gets right to the Europa League. But there is no professional management at the club (relatives of the owner). They very often do not make the right decisions. Recently, again suffered a puncture, have not signed the contract on time (it was necessary to automatically renew 2 months ago) with the best defender and he resigned from the Kuban as a free agent.
alwn January 14th, 2011, 04:23 PM I didnt know all these. Probbaly he will play only for avoid the relegation

MS20 February 10th, 2011, 06:06 AM First off, 40,000-45,000 is the ideal new capacity size for any football team in a metro area of 1 million+ bar maybe the 10 odd greatest clubs in Europe.
Secondly, agree with alwn on pretty much everything. You build football tradition over time, you don't give up just because it doesn't presently exist.
By 2019, I'll be shocked if Russia isn't averaging over 20,000. New football facilities raise attendance more than some people think. Russia is getting a nation-wide facelift, and attendances will only improve over the next decade.

I agree, russia has a lot of potential, economical/performance/attendance wise. I strongly believe that infrastructure will raise the sport to pre 1991 levels!

The main cluster of Kazan’s 2015/2017 World Aquatics Championships Bid Book was presented to the FINA evaluation team today
The main cluster of the future World Aquatics Championships will be located on the territory of the 45,000-seat football stadium under construction and Aquatics Palace. It is reported that two swimming pools will be set up in the stadium: one for competitions and one for training. The international media centre will be housed in the stadium as well. And the Aquatics Palace is to become the venue for diving, syncronised swimming and water polo events.
The project’s peculiar feature is the so-called Hospitality Zone which will be sited in the main cluster of the World Aquatics Championship. The Hospitality Zone will comprise various entertainment and family recreation facilities. The site with the total area of 15 thousand square metres will house museums, expo centres, concert halls, sports facilities, a fan zone and a beach area. The Hospitality Zone’s trademark venue will be the so-called National Village which is to reflect the cultural diversity of peoples residing in the host city of the World Aquatics Championship: from national handicrafts to national cuisines.
It’s obvious that the Hospitality Zone to be constructed in the very heart of the host city of the future World Aquatics Championships will boost Kazan’s transformation, as well as enhance development of social and tourism infrastructure of the city.

AlekseyVT July 15th, 2011, 10:59 PM KAZAN (RUSSIA) AND GUADALAJARA (MEXICO) ARE NEXT ORGANISERS
Shanghai (China), July 15, 2011 – The Cities/National Federations of Kazan (Russia) and Guadalajara (Mexico) will be the next organisers of the FINA World Championships in 2015 and 2017, respectively.
The announcement was made today in Shanghai (China) shortly after the FINA Bureau’s vote on the three bidders: Kazan, Guadalajara and Hong Kong. Due to the quality and high-profile of all bids, FINA decided, for the first time in its history to award the organisation of two editions of its major event, the FINA World Championships, on the same occasion.
“All the bids must be congratulated for the hard work and professional involvement in this candidature. That is a guarantee that both editions of these Championships will be outstanding, held in excellent facilities and counting with the highest support of the respective national and local authorities”, considered FINA President Dr. Julio C. Maglione after this decision.
For Kazan, the President of Tatarstan Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov and the Mayor of Kazan Mr. Ilsur Metshin led the delegation also formed by former Olympic and World champions such as:
