Bandar Tasik Selatan integrated transport terminal (ITT) would be completed by January. He lauded its world-class infrastructure and how it would facilitate public transport serving the southern states.

The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar had reportedly said in September that its advanced terminal management system was a “great improvement” over existing systems in other major bus terminals. The terminal will link buses with LRT, ERL and KTM Komuter.

The terminal’s lobby was described as looking like it belongs in an airport, where LED board displays important information like departure and arrival times next to a long line of ticketing counters.

“It will be a first for Malaysia in terms of sophistication and has the capacity to handle 40,000 passengers and 1,000 buses per day. In an hour, 110 buses can be accommodated,” said Syed Hamid during his visit back then.

Yup very beautiful if you view it at night from 7pm till 7am, everyday from since 2 months ago.

It makes a lot of people wonder why they have to waste electricity on that scale. And please lah......no more rubbish like they have to work on the interior at night and that sort of crap cause they could switched on the lights by zone. This place are entirely litted up!

Had a look at this today didn't see any buses so I guess its not fully open yet. I agree with the comments about lack of integration with the surrounding kampungs which are near but yet so far away - this geograhic segregation is a familar trend throughout the whole of Malaysia.

Operations of metered taxis at TBS-BTS will be monitored
Updated: Wednesday December 29, 2010 MYT 8:32:29 PM
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2010/12/29/nation/20101229185553&sec=nation

KUALA LUMPUR: The management of Terminal Bersepadu Selatan - Bandar Tasik Selatan (TBS-BTS), MAJU Terminal Management and Services (MAJU TMAS), will ensure that taxi service at the terminal is monitored to prevent passengers from being cheated.

"We will assign a monitoring officer and any driver of metered taxis can operate at the TBS-BTS," said the managing director of MAJU TMAS, Roslan Mohd Shariff when contacted by Bernama.

Roslan also said that TBS-BTS would not be creating the coupon system in the near future.

TBS-BTS also stressed on the security aspect by installing 500 close-circuit TV cameras (CCTV) besides deploying 250 auxillary policemen to carry out patrols at all floors and police posts were provided at strategic areas.

TBS-BTS, which will be operational on Jan 1, is also another symbol of modernisation of the country's transport system and the government's efforts to provide comfort to the people.

The TBS-BTS building, constructed on a 19.6 hectare site, consists of six floors including 55 bus platforms for 1,000 buses going out and coming in every day, 150 taxi stands and 1,000 parking lots including special parking for women. - Bernama

"One of the special features is the centralised ticketing system where Maju TMAS will be selling the tickets on behalf of bus operators to put an end to touting activities."

Tickets sold will bear passengers' names, similar to that of boarding passes issued by airlines.

I agree with allurban analysis that the ITS is not connected to nearby villages and towns via pedestrian walkways....the ITS still car centric..

This is like the KTM stations near the federal Highway which leave passengers either to cross the deadly traffic laden federal highway or walk ridiculously long way to get to the LDP bridge to get to other side.:ohno:

officially open - 1/1/2011 New opening date: 2 february 2011this is hilarious - not only do we have 2 different government agencies talking about different opening dates, one of the biggest bus operators (Konsortium Transnasional) will stay at Bukit Jalil for the short term

Why? Because they only got the fax from CVLB/LPKP on Thursday!!!! :bash:

But do not worry at all, the government has found a way to resolve the problem:

New opening date - 1 January 2011, with no retail lots and almost no bus services. http://bit.ly/gWqoOb

The perfect face-saving solution :bash::ohno:

By the way, does our high-tech terminal with integrated ticketing system have a website? A phone number?

Cheers, m

New depot gave too short a notice to move in, say bus operators
By PRIYA MENON Saturday January 1, 2011
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/1/1/nation/7721549&sec=nation

KUALA LUMPUR: The country’s state-of-the-art bus terminal is set to open today in an air of controversy, with only 10 out of the 190 invited operators moving in.

Bus operators have complained of too short a notice to move their operations into the Integrated Transportation Terminal Bandar Tasik Selatan (ITT-BTS).

There is also some misunderstanding on when the terminal should open for business.

The terminal’s operator, Maju TMAS (Terminal Management and Services), said it had been given the go-ahead by the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board to open the terminal today, while the Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Ministry has issued a directive that the terminal can only be opened on Feb 2 simultaneously with the Puduraya bus terminal.

To add to the problems, an Umno branch will be holding a demonstration outside the terminal to protest against the allotment of retail outlets.

Konsortium Transnasional Bhd human resource and corporate services head Abdul Samad Kamari said the board had only issued a directive on Thursday asking them to relocate to the terminal by Feb 1.

However, he said Maju TMAS had asked the firm to start operations at the terminal today.

“It is too short a notice for us to begin operations and we have not even completed discussions on the ticket management system.

“As of now, our services will remain at the Bukit Jalil bus terminal until we manage to reach an agreement with the new terminal’s management,” he said.

Abdul Samad said Transnasional and Plusliner buses would still operate both northern and southern departures from the Bukit Jalil bus terminal until further notice.

Maju TMAS managing director Roslan Shariff said he left it to the bus operators to make their own decision, but pledged to go ahead with the opening today.

“We welcome all the bus operators but it is ultimately their decision. We will open with all the resources we have,” he told The Star.

Roslan said Maju TMAS had been “constant and consistent” in its actions. “Our task is to deliver service to the people,’’ he added.

The terminal has 55 platform bays and 110 holding bays. It will service south-bound buses and the terminal and also has the capacity to cater for north-bound routes.

There are 18 ticketing counters, two e-ticketing counters and one for disabled users.

There will not be individual counters for each bus operator, thus eradicating the tout problem that had been rampant at Puduraya and the temporary terminal in Bukit Jalil.

Bandar Tun Razak Umno branch secretary Zaharin Mohd Yasin said members would hold a demonstration outside the terminal to protest against the allotment of retail outlets.

“We are not concerned about the date of operations. Our main concern is the 40% allotment of retail outlets in the terminal which should have been given to the people of Bandar Tun Razak,” he said.

Elijah Ismail, 45, from Sentul, said she went to the terminal yesterday to purchase tickets to Johor but was told that the ticket counter was not yet open.

She hoped that it would be opened considering the facilities provided in the new terminal.

UDA Holdings Bhd chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said although express buses from the north had been given the option of using the ITT-BTS, most companies still favoured the Puduraya terminal.

Hundreds stage protest against developer

KUALA LUMPUR: Hundreds of people, including residents, non-governmental groups and politicians, staged a protest at the Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT in Cheras against the Bandar Tasik Selatan Inte- grated transport terminal developer.

The protesters, including members from Barisan Nasional and Opposition parties like PAS and PKR, claimed among others that the land for the terminal had been gazetted for recreational purpose.

The protest, which lasted about two hours, ended with a march to SK Desa Tasik.

Bandar Tun Razak Barisan and Umno secretary Zaharin Yasin said the group wanted a 6ha piece of land near the lake returned to the public.

One protest: Bandar Tun Razak residents, members of NGOs and BN and PR component parties protesting as one against the developer and operator Maju Holdings Sdn Bhd who they allege did not give locals priority in setting up retail businesses in shoplots at the Bandar Tasik Selatan Integrated terminal.
They wanted the terminal operators to ensure the poor in the area were given priority for setting up retail businesses in the shoplots at the terminal.

“This terminal is a government project. It is the people who should benefit from it,” Zaharin said, adding that the monthly rental was also steep.

Also present were Bandar Tun Razak MCA chief Chiew Lian Keng and Federal Territory PPP chairman Datuk A. Chandrakumanan.

Bandar Tun Razak MP Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, who made an appearance during the protest, said he would raise the matter in Parliament.

Maju TMAS Sdn Bhd managing director Roslan Shariff declined to comment when approached, saying that Maju TMAS only managed the terminal.

Maju Holdings Sdn Bhd is the developer of the terminal.

the reason for this mess if from government and its agencies as well.

as usual, government always do thing 'top down' approach. never consult and involve public or stakeholders. they only think they know what is good what is bad. is this how Najib said 'the era of government knows best is over'?

now who is going to clean this shit?

i believe the term 'Public Participation' is very very rare in malaysia bcoz of our populist (and idiot) politician.

they want to build fast and solve any problems only after it's been built. they want to show to people (via media) that, "oh, this is another world class facility built for the rakyat", while sweeping everything under the carpet. only the stadium at gong badak terengganu shown the real fact.

http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/planning/scenplan/frimg04.gif

^^ looking at this diagram, we know where's our position (as a rakyat).

Let's bet

It looks classy.....it depends on the management.
If it is not well managed....it will be 2nd pudu very fast.
If it is well managed...then it will be well maintained and also slow down the rate of being another pudu that fast.

let's not put all burden on management. sometimes politicians are behind all these mess. through their 'power', they can give excuse for certain company not to use the facility.

we have seen these bus operators always demanded to increase bus fare giving typical excuse 'kos operasi meningkat' . why they are so powerful? and why rakyat always lose?

Look who's using the bus. People of the masses.

We will see Indon manning all the gerais, and there will be all jerit2 attracting the customers, just like Puduraya and Bukit Jalil.

And if it's not managed well, you gonna see very uncivilized people, kencing berak pun boleh pecah pintu jamban, tandas tak reti nak flush and it will rot from there.

Orang2 bawahan ni kurang sikit ilmu sivik. Bukanlah nak berlagak tapi i would say things like this will happen at our bus station, no matter how gleaming the new BTS will be. In the end, sama macam tu lah. Tandas kotor, gerai macam standard tepi jalan, kutip sedekah and all...

always happen when rush jobs are involved..then everyone wants to take opportunity!!

So who do we call for the rescue..Syed Albar?Looks like Halimah Sadique (CVLB), Nong Chik Zainal Abidin (Federal Territories Minister) and a few others are already weighing in, trying to be the hero.

Syed Hamid is hoping that SPAD will have authority by the end of January.

i believe the term 'Public Participation' is very very rare in malaysia bcoz of our populist (and idiot) politician.

they want to build fast and solve any problems only after it's been built. they want to show to people (via media) that, "oh, this is another world class facility built for the rakyat", while sweeping everything under the carpet. only the stadium at gong badak terengganu shown the real fact.

^^ looking at this diagram, we know where's our position (as a rakyat).Wooohooo! We've reached tokenism (but only in KL) while Selangor and the rest of the "maju" states are probably somewhere in between non-participation and tokenism. :ohno:

This is progress .... of sorts  Najib! Najib! Najib! jk

so sad we don't have it..would you trust your stuff to *bus* baggage handlers given the pilfering that goes on even in KLIA?

When m takes a bus, he loads and unloads his own luggage and tries to sit as close to it as possible.

Land belongs to public

CLOSE on the heels of the protests by bus operators and traders over charges and high rental at the Integrated Transporta-tion Terminal in Bandar Tasik Selatan (ITT-BTS), Cheras comes allegations that land earmarked for public use has been taken over by the developer to build a private property.

The land has been barricaded and security personnel as well as dogs are on guard.

The approximately 10.5ha plot used to be private land but was supposed to have been handed over to the government to be developed as a green lung for the public.

Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said action would be taken against the developer whose properties had encroached into government land.
Private home: This is one of the many bungalows built for the developer’s family and several VIPs.

“Part of the land in dispute is government land and it is meant for public use. It is not for private use and it is wrong of the developer to build the bungalows without first resolving the land status,” he said, adding that a notice would be issued to the developer.

There are reportedly five bungalows for the developer’s family as well as several VIPs.

Rumour has it that there is a mini golf range as well. The houses sit on the edge of a lake.

The allegations surfaced last weekend during a demonstration by all political parties from Bandar Tun Razak as well as unhappy residents near the Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT station.

Bandar Tun Razak Umno division secretary Zaharin Mohd Yasin said they were first told of the issue by the residents in August last year.

“We received a memorandum from the residents asking us to procure the land again for the original owners. There is a slight confusion because the land was owned by ASM Development Sdn Bhd,” he said.

In a letter addressed to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) by the Federal Territory Land Office, the said lots PT 3798 and PT 3802 were given back to the Government under Section 204D of the National Land Code.

The developer, a subsidiary of Maju Holdings Bhd, had submitted three applications to acquire the land again from the Land Office but was rejected.

It was stated that the land was to be developed together with three parcels of adjacent land belonging to the developer.

“The people are unhappy with this issue, they have raised it in early 2010 to the Federal Territories Ministry as well as MACC,” said Zaharin.
Luxurious surroundings: Apart from bungalows, there is a mini golf range that sits on the edge of the lake.

He said the Bandar Tun Razak Umno would file a complaint with MACC against four agencies — the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, the director of the FT Land Office, the head of Public Private Partnership Unit (Ukas) and the Inspector-General of Police for failing to carry out their duties.

“City Hall should not have allowed the company to build the structures, the police should have prevented the encroachment of government property and the Land Office failed to take legal action as per the law,” he said.

Bandar Tun Razak MP Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim’s special representative Azman Abidin pointed out that the Kuala Lumpur development plan earmarked the land for recreational use.

“It is public land; this problem should be addressed within 100 days,” he said.

Azman said Khalid, who is also Selangor Mentri Besar, would take this issue to Parliament.

He added that Khalid had discussed this matter with mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Fuad Ismail in March 2010 and Fuad had said action would be taken against the developer.

“They have barricaded an access road meant for Desa Tasik residents and the people are very unhappy that the Government has done nothing to resolve this problem,” said Azman.

Bandar Tun Razak MIC member S. Joseph said the residents had long disapproved of the project yet nothing was done to stop the developer.

“Since the land is clearly gazetted as open space for public use in both the Draft KL Plan 2020 and KL Structure Plan 2020, how can the authorities approve the construction of the buildings in the first place?” he questioned.

When contacted, Maju Holdings corporate communications manager Badrul Izhan Yeop Abdullah said it was beyond the company’s jurisdiction and they were unable to comment on it.

Low-tech issues at hi-tech hub

MALAYSIANS often comment that public transport is a joke. The prime minister has tasked Datuk Seri Idris Jala, Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar, and the people at Pemandu and SPAD to ensure that real, serious improvements are made to the way the government delivers on its commitments, including public transport.
Unfortunately, it seems that some people in various branches of the government have still not gotten the message. The issues surrounding the Integrated Transport Terminal at Bandar Tasik Selatan have helped finish off 2010 and begin 2011 with collective embarrassment for the government on the public transport file – clearly the last thing the prime minister needs to be dealing with.

To summarise the issue: The building is ready, and Kuala Lumpur City Hall had approved the start of bus operations on Jan 1. Terminal management company TMAS had already opened the terminal to the public in December and invited 190 bus operators (of which 10 had already agreed).

However, the Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Ministry had issued a directive that the terminal should start operations on Feb 2 – the same day that Puduraya (which is being refurbished) was expected to open. That project, which should have been completed by the end of 2010, was already delayed and the one month extension would have helped ensure that both terminals would be ready at the same time.

To make the story even stranger, the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board had directed bus operators to shift to the new terminal by Jan 1. This directive came in the form of a memo sent by fax on Dec 30.

In response, the bus operators claimed that the directive gives them too short a notice. They also said the additional costs of the terminal and operations (which they apparently have to bear) and threatened to impose a surcharge on fares.

Worst of all, Ashfar Ali of the Pan Malaysian Bus Operators’ Association has delivered the toughest hit of all, claiming that the hi-tech centralised ticket system will cost passengers more and will not stop touting, as TMAS has claimed.

And if this was not strange enough, members of Umno and PKR were present together at a demonstration complaining that the poor residents of the area have not been given access to the retail lots in the terminal and the leasing costs are too high.

It should have been simple – the Integrated Transport Terminal had been built, the bus operations had to start in a timely and effective fashion. What happened instead continues to prove that the government can build great infrastructure but cannot manage and deliver a project properly.

It appears that all the stakeholders cannot even clearly answer the all-important question of "who is in charge?". And instead of resolving their issues through communication and discussion, they take everything to the media, causing confusion and embarrassment once again. Sadly, the media does not help much. It appears that they reported the information from the TMAS briefing verbatim, and did not even bother to ask questions like "does this hi-tech bus terminal have a website and phone number? or "How can the public get information about bus services, so they do not come to the terminal without information and fall prey to touts like at Puduraya?"

The rakyat cannot be faulted for thinking: "If our government agencies cannot manage the delivery of one bus terminal properly, one can only wonder what will happen with the RM36 billion (to start) MRT network!"

Malaysians should be disappointed. The "jokers" at the various government agencies should be ashamed. Idris Jala should be worried, and the prime minister should be furious.

And Halimah Sadique, the chair of the CVLB, publicly criticised her own CVLB director, Naimah Ramli, because buses were still at Bukit Jalil and had not moved to the new terminal yet, saying "I had expected all of them (bus operators) to move in by today (Jan 1). Do you know the rakyat are miserable at Bukit Jalil?"

Halimah should know that the rakyat who use public transport have been miserable since 1987, when the CVLB was created. And to be frank, in her 1.5 years as chair of the CVLB, Halimah has accomplished little to reduce that misery. Despite multiple fare increases, bus service has not improved in terms of quality or safety.

By publicly criticising her director, Halimah has made it clear that she is not in control of the CVLB, and should therefore step down and let someone else take charge. More importantly, the CVLB should be disbanded and replaced by SPAD.

Yeap....true true.

Passed by Bukit Jalil last week Tuesday (4th Jan 2011) and there are still lotsa buses and people there. Went to check out the ITT on Friday (7th Jan 2011) and the place is still empty. :ohno:

And why on Earth do they still want to reuse PuduRaya? In fact PuduRaya should be like a premier bus terminal with only those super expensive buses like Aeroline etc. to use due to its downtown proximity. Not to be elitist but only catering to these buses also reduces the number of vehicle in that area. Anyone notices that it is such a joy to use that stretch of Jln Pudu since they closes down PuduRaya in April last year?

Agree, but the problem is most of premium buses was double-deck...:)

ITT-BTS really really impressive..I hope G will do something to build mini KL Sentral in order to have better integration with rail lines.

One more thing, I heard that Aerobus or Skybus in KL SEntral will move to this ITT. Isn't it?

The only reason i take aeroline is because i like their departures points from different hotels and mall around the city!!The moment they move to puduraya,Thats it no more bye bye aeroline!!I like the mini sentral idea at a few selective and strategic LRT stations.

Talking about multi-modal transport hub, there is still much to be desire of the frequencies of those rail lines servicing the ITT-BTS.

ERL = 25 mins

More trains and drivers for the SP line please, if not, when the extension is completed we'll have to wait longer for the trains to Tasik Selatan.

Those timings seem just about right!! This terminal can give KL Sentral a run for their money. The condition for it to happen is simply improve the timings of the trains and off course accessibility to the respective train platforms.

15 Januari tarikh akhir pindah operasi ke TBS-BTS

2011/01/04

KL-Larkin roughly RM30 per passenger. for single trip, normally 1 bus can get more than 10 passengers. so, RM300 per bus. how much the cost for diesel used? estimate how much profit bus operators can get?

He he, Tasik Selatan itself is already a few miles closer to Larkin than Puduraya, they would have already profited on the time and diesel not stuck travelling from Puduraya to the Sg Besi toll.

:yes:The best solution for Puduraya is to use it as a bus holding and dispatch terminal for stage buses and local intercity buses.

The problem is that it isn't large enough to handle all of those buses so something will have to give - I'm sure the temporary terminal at Hang Tuah is not going to be there for that much longer.

On the other hand, a terminal on the south side beside the Hang Tuah LRT station might be the best option.

Cheers, m

Big shift for bus operators
By TEH ENG HOCK Friday January 14, 2011
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/1/14/nation/7792598&sec=nation

PETALING JAYA: South-bound express buses will start plying the new Integrated Transportation Terminal-Bandar Tasik Selatan (ITT-BTS) within the next two weeks.

Bus companies had initially refused to shift operations to the new RM570mil terminal following a stand-off with the terminal operator.

“I advise all passengers who have bought tickets to call the bus companies to find out where their buses would arrive and depart,” said Pan Malaysian Bus Operators Association president Datuk Ashfar Ali.

“In order not to inconvenience passengers during the Chinese New Year rush, bus operators will progressively shift when the ticket counters are ready,” Ashfar told The Star.

He also proposed that RapidKL deploy feeder buses to shuttle passengers between the temporary bus terminal in Bukit Jalil, main spots in the city centre and the ITT-BTS.

“I hope a lesson is learnt here. Why force everyone to move at the last minute? Why were the operators not engaged earlier?” he asked.

Bus operators had initially refused to relocate to the terminal, claiming that the cost of operating at ITT-BTS was four times higher than at other terminals.

Each bus is charged RM10 per entry and RM10 per exit, but after Wednesday’s meeting, it was agreed that the rate be reduced to RM6, said Ashfar.

“Also, buses coming in empty to pick up passengers would only be charged the exit fee, while buses offloading passengers but leaving empty will only pay the entry fee,” he said.

Previously, the fee was applicable on a per entry and per exit basis regardless of passenger load.

The RM1 ticket surcharge imposed by terminal operator Maju TMAS (Terminal Manage ment and Services) is also on hold.

Initially, Maju TMAS had insisted that bus companies use its computerised ticketing system although they each had their own ticketing system online.

“We are not sure who should bear the cost of the ticket surcharge – the passengers or the bus operators – so it is on hold.

“It was also agreed that bus operators use their own e-ticketing system.

“Smaller companies who do not have an online system will use the ITT-TBS system,” he said.

its such a silly move to have ITT-TBS system when each individual bus company have their own online e-ticketing. why such a hassle move?

i remember even UK bus terminal did not have the ITT sort like system.

What a passenger want to know in the bus terminal is the arrival and departure time of the buses.. information of each every buses terminal...

Guess the G have ommited the importance need of a passengers. G. officier are too rich and never take a bus before?

Another common flip-flop from our beloved G..Regarding Puduraya, I don't think it will be ready by next two days...:bash::bash:

Deadline extended for express bus operators to move from Bukit Jalil to the Southern Integrated Terminal

According to a statement issued today by the Land Public Transport Commission, the deadline for all express bus operators – serving destinations south of Kuala Lumpur – to relocate to the Southern Integrated Terminal in Bandar Tasik Selatan, KL will be extended to March 1.

The decision to extend the deadline was made by the Government to give the express bus operators more time to relocate from the Bukit Jalil Temporary Bus Terminal to the new six-storey terminal. The extension is also to avoid the public getting confused during the heavy travel demand period around Chinese New Year.

The extension of the deadline will also to enable new ticket counters to be constructed in the terminal, to enable bus operators with their own ticketing system to sell their tickets at the terminal.

The Government has also set up an Operational Readiness Task Force, which is headed by the LPTC. The task force is to ensure the smooth migration of express bus operators to the SIT by the new deadline.

in fact indonesia n thailand are among the highest in bus accidents

I've been using the terminal roads as a shortcut back home from Salak South and Kuchai for a month and a half liao and the station looks dead at all times (day and night). I dunno bout you all but if this continues, it is gonna be a white elephant. I swear that more than two dozen times I've passed thru this station with full visuals of both departures (both sides of the terminal) and arrival, I've not seen a single bus. Yesterday afternoon I see some people in the terminal which is the 'best crowd' I;ve seen so far. This is really disappointing. On the contrary, the carpark opposite the National Hoki Stadium are still filled with buses and people. :ohno:

CCTV does work on certain amount of lighting. When I am talking about lights on it means even exterior flood lights which are only for aesthetic purposes. Do you need those for CCTV?

It is lame to use CCTV as an excuse to switched on ALL lights. Even KLIA switches off some aesthetic lighting after midnight despite it operating for 24hrs.

BTW....can't the station be locked down after operating hours? No security guards meh? On most nights I passes by there are no buses so I guess the station isn't 24 hours at the moment so cannot switch off the lights at 12am? Or even 10pm for that matter.

The amount of energy wasted is tremendous not to mention the savings on the electricity would enable the station to hire more guards.

Better to keep the lights on to maintain the illusion that they are full of passengers & buses.

Over 50 bus operators agree to relocate to Bandar Tasik Selatan
By ISABELLE LAI Saturday February 26, 2011
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/2/26/nation/8146709&sec=nation

PETALING JAYA: The new Integrated Transportation Terminal at Bandar Tasik Selatan (ITT-BTS) will finally be fully operational with more than 50 bus operators agreeing to locate there from March 1.

Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) head of state operations and terminal licensing Mohd Fuad Ahmad said 34 operators would use e-ticketing systems.

“These operators who have met our selection criteria have counters to sell their own tickets,” he said after heading the balloting session attended by 56 bus operators yesterday.

Those who did not have an e-ticketing system or had less than 10 trips per day were not given counters and were encouraged to sell their tickets under the BTS system instead.

He also urged the public to come to ITT-BTS instead of the Bukit Jalil terminal beginning March 1 for all south-bound trips, except to and from Seremban.

Meanwhile, bus operators expressed full confidence that they would be able to begin business by the March 1 deadline.

Konsortium Transnasional Bhd (KTB) human resources and corporate services head Abdul Samad Kamari said KTB had been allocated four counters as it conducts over a hundred trips per day.

The counters are up and everything is ready for us to move in over the weekend,” he said.

Causeway Link Express supervisor Tay Cheng Hoe said the state-of-the-art facilites would be good for business as it would draw more passengers.

Eltabina Jaya Sdn Bhd director Abdul Halim Mohamed said the new bus terminal was a win-win situation for both bus operators and passengers.

“We don’t normally operate under such great facilities,” he said.

:lol:How true .They got it right in many ways,For sure spacious,My only concerns is how the terminal building is link to the 3 train platforms.:oho:And off course during peak hours traffic on the MRR2 .By the way whats the deal with maju holding managing the place? That little lombong can be perfect for a public park before they put a few more condos/apts.Overall kudos well done. Its even nicer than the LCCT:lol:

what is the difference between the ticket bus counter with the company name and the one without any name...'
however the additional counter look kinda tacky since it has been build in such hurry, look a like those skybus counter at the LCCT who will shout to you when you get out of the arrival hall.

Ur right about ticket counters!Especially transnational counter what a shame!Everything about terminal is positive just minor improvements here and there. Is about moving people from point A to B.I would love to see the taxi/intercity stop on level 3 instead of where it is now.Upgrading the walkway/pedestrian bridge from the MRR2 to the terminal building via the different train stations will be good.

I think it would be better if the 3 rail stations (LRT, ERL and KTM) to be rebuilt so that these 3 rail lines will have common concourse, that is same level as the pedestrian bridge to the BTS bus terminal.

That way, you will have better transfer between rail stations and the bus terminal.

When you have smooth transfer between these two components (bus and rail), it is possible to serve more people.

I also like to see a single level ,wide enough, perhaps a/c walkway all the way from the terminal building to the MRR2.A simple ramp will link it to all the train platforms . Main ticketing concourse area at both end .

Ia macam 1 pembaziran.

What are your thoughts about a 4th ITT in Shah Alam? We would appreciate your feedback on our upcoming proposal

http://transitmy.org/2011/03/05/transit-shah-alam-stadium-would-make-a-great-park-ride-facility/

Our View:

TRANSIT believes that the Stadium parking lots themselves would make for an excellent intermodal transport terminal because:

* The stadium area is located roughly equal distance from the NKVE and Federal Highway;
* KTM Komuter station Batu Tiga is located nearby – a shuttle bus could connect between the terminal and station with relative ease;
* The Kelana Jaya LRT can be extended to the Stadium area after Subang Jaya KTM station;
* Drivers on the Federal Highway could park at the Stadium area and avoid paying that toll at Batu Tiga;
* Drivers on the NKVE could reduce their toll cost by traveling fewer kilometers – with a reduction in traffic volute helping to reduce the notorious jam at the Subang toll;

Types of services that could be introduced might include:

* Limited-stop & Intra-urban Express buses (Expressway Rapid Transit) from the stadium (let’s call it “ITT-Barat”) to Klang (via Federal Highway) and Bukit Raja (via NKVE) and Rawang (via Guthrie Corridor). See the map of TRANSIT’s proposal here (http://transitmy.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/klang-rapid-transit-routes-summary.pdf);
* Limited-stop & Intra-urban express bus services (Expressway Rapid Transit) from “ITT-Barat” (Stadium Shah Alam) to north, east, and central areas of KL (Jalan Duta & Ampang via NKVE, KL town via Federal Highway);
* Intercity express buses utilizing the NKVE, KLITE and Guthrie Corridor Expressway;
* An ITT shuttle connecting connects all 4 integrated transport terminals (Bandar Tasik Selatan, Gombak, Sg. Buloh and Shah Alam) – assuming that Shah Alam ITT is built;
* Shah Alam Circulator bus service (see a map showing TRANSIT’s proposal here (http://transitmy.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/simplified-bus-routes-for-shah-alam.pdf)) based at the ITT Shah Alam hub
* Shuttle bus services to the Glenmarie industrial area, similar to the B.E.S.T. shuttle bus (http://transitmy.org/2011/03/04/the-best-weve-seen-so-far/) operating in Penang;
* Inter-Airport shuttle bus linking Subang Airport to KLIA (possibly sponsored by Malaysia Airlines’ subsidiary Firefly Airlines, which has operations at both airports). If you support such a shuttle, stopping at “ITT-Barat” or in Subang Jaya, tell Firefly! Their contact information is here.;

So what do you think? Should there be a 4th Integrated Transport Terminal, completing all the cardinal directions (South, East, North, West) of ITT service in the Greater Klang Valley?

Would an inter-modal bus terminal & Park & Ride facility encourage people from Shah Alam and Klang to use public transport? Would such a terminal help realign bus services along the major east-west (Federal Highway, NKVE, even KESAS) and north-south (ELITE, Guthrie) road transport corridors in the western half of the Greater Klang Valley?

Most importantly, would such a terminal help reduce the numbers of cars that enter Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya on a daily basis?

Even more importantly, how quickly can this solution be in place?

Cheers, m

actually, KL Sentral is so hot, the ventilation not very good, especially on LRT RapidKL platform, i think KL Sentral design is not suitable for tropical climate, its make me suffocated with the heat

yeah!! i agree..!!
its dark, and so hot...

I recall the prev MD of Prasarana saying that they were looking for a much simpler design, more like Melaka Sentral / Klang Sentral as opposed to "LCCT for bus"

Cheers, m

Yes. An energy saving-environmental friendly design should be made priority.

Very nice updates !!..most modern bus terminal in Malaysia :banana:hahah take out the word 'bus' and you'd be even more accurate. Beats LCCT at KLIA, even better than KLIA itself (except that KLIA does have that wonderful greenery).

Actually, now I'm wondering why they didn't incorporate more greenery into the design - build a little bit of humidity and absorb some of the heat & other exhaust from the buses, cars & people.

Mister M, what do u think, this can compete as World's best bus terminal ?

I was there last week and very impressed... took some photos but it seems similar to those posted here . The electronic departure/arrival display and " Lobi Perlepasan " with police /ticket inspection are really WOW....

The only complaint being the connectivity between car park & entrance at such high floor ... but the rest is excellent.

by modern-looking, I'm not referring to a driver with a Justin Bieber haircut, LV sunglasses, handphone in one hand, smartphone in the other, bluetooth in each ear and an iPad balanced on his knees.

unless they get good pay.
bus drivers speed because of bus company 'regulation'.

bus companies need to take the effort.all this while they only care about $$$.

I can see that abused so easily.

Operators at Bandar Tasik Selatan want relocation of ticket counters
By ISABELLE LAI Wednesday April 13, 2011
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/4/13/nation/8460387&sec=nation

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 10 bus operators at the Integrated Transport Terminal-Bandar Tasik Selatan (ITT-BTS) appealed for their ticketing counters to be relocated to ensure fair competition.

Their current location, they say, had resulted in a drop of up to 30% in sales, resulting in losses of hundreds of thousands to millions of ringgit a month.

They claim that they are at a disadvantage as their counters are located away from the Maju Terminal Management and Services (TMAS) counter, which sells tickets for smaller bus operators who do not have an e-ticketing system of their own.

“There must be equal opportunity for us to attract customers. But we have been sidelined due to the poor location, where it's hard for customers to even see our counters,” S&S International Express manager Mizar Zainon said.

The operators have refuted Land Transport Public Commission chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar's earlier comment that bus operators should stick to what they had agreed upon in regard to the location of the counters.

“That was not in the original plan. We agreed for counters to be built directly opposite the TMAS counters near the main entrance with the same specifications.

“Instead, they changed the location at the last minute and the new counters are of much lower quality,” said Eltabina Jaya Sdn Bhd managing director Aznan Sharib during a meeting with bus operators at the Konsortium Transnasional Bhd office on Monday.

The bus operators also expressed frustration that TMAS customer service staff could direct customers to their own counters, but did not allow them to do the same.

They are appealing for new counters to be built along the corridor of the executive lounge near the TMAS counters, which are easily visible to the public.

A check by The Star showed many customers at the TMAS counters located in the main hall, whereas much fewer people were spotted buying bus tickets from the individual operators' counters situated at one end of the terminal.

Is this a fully commercial project? Or partly residential?

Honestly tho - if I'm stuck living/working next to a rail line & 2 highways, Id be happy to know that there is a public transport station nearby.

I'd like to see a minimum level of parking outside parking, a large amount of short term & long term parking indoors, competition with TBS on parking fares, enforcement of the parking rules and obviously, incentives to encourage people to use public transport...

From the image above it is clear that there needs to be a second entrance/exit (plus overhead bridge & ramp) at the other end of the LRT, ERL & KTM Komuter station - perhaps the project developer could be encouraged to provide the funding.

MidValley Komuter station also needs a second entrance/exit

Cheers, m

ITT now in full swing
Reports by JOSHUA FOONG Wednesday June 1, 2011
http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/6/1/nation/8774359&sec=nation

DIVERTING almost 700 southbound express buses from the congested city centre on a daily basis, the RM570mil integrated transport terminal (ITT) in Bandar Tasik Selatan is now operating at full swing and is quickly becoming one of the more important transit points into Kuala Lumpur.

Designed to cater for an integrated means of public transport as its linkage to KLIA Transit, KTM Kommuter and Rapid KL LRT services, the terminal has been built with comfort in mind.

Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) head of state operations and terminal licensing Mohd Fuad Ahmad said the terminal provides facilities for private transportation with a total of 1,300 car park bays and 500 motorcycle parking bays.

“With this, the terminal provides its commuters with park and ride facilities so that they can leave their vehicles at the terminal and transfer to a bus, rail systems, or carpool to get to City Centre, either for working, shopping or sightseeing,” he said.

“The terminal is also well served by city buses – provided by Rapid KL and Setara Jaya Sdn. Bhd., as well as taxi services - both budget and executive,” he added.

Based on statistics compiled by terminal operator Maju TMAS Sdn Bhd, a total of 231,704 people had visited the terminal in April, the highest number since its opening in January.

“It shows that the usage of the terminal has improved since its opening due to its linkages to all form of transportation as well as facilities offered in the terminal,” Mohd Fuad said.

The terminal is also big on security with stringent monitoring over 496 CCTVs by security personnel at the Terminal Management Centre.

An Auxiliary Police Unit was also stationed within the Main Terminal Building and at the external areas within terminal compounds.

“The presence of government agencies such as SPAD, JPJ and PDRM on-site have rejuvenated the confidence level for users in using public transport as a preferred mode of travelling,” he added.

Based on the data compiled by the terminal operator, a total of 210,731 tickets have been sold via the centralised e-Ticketing systems from January to April.

Currently, the terminal records an average of 373 trips daily for departure and 322 trips daily for arrival based on data obtained between March and April.

However, there were concerns reported on the lack of road directions signboards leading to and around the terminal as there were only two directional signages installed at Besraya: North Bound and South Bound upon completion of the terminal.

Commenting on that Mohd Fuad said SPAD has conducted discussions with Maju TMAS, the Prime Minister’s Office as well as rail operators to improve the signage in the terminal.

“Road directions leading towards the terminal have been improved. We have installed 50 directional buntings in February with another 150 directional buntings put up in the middle of May at all major highways and roads leading to the terminal,” he said.

He added that the terminal, with rail operators as well as the Kuala Lumpur City Council is planning to install more permanent and prominent directional signages.

I highly doubt that it will be eventual turned out to be a poorly maintained terminal and great vandalism can be seen... Why i had such a mentality??

Just hoped that the maintenance of the building will upkeep their services level and hygiene level in the terminal itself.

They're expanding the BTS Ampang Line station with lifts to go up to the main platforms spanning walkways. Some major works being done there, though there's no render on how the end layout will look like, but I can see the lift shaft taking form.
