SEG Plaza, invested and developed by Shenzhen SEG Group Co., LTD is located at the crossing of the main traffic way of Shenzhen, Shennan Road and Huaqiang Road, North. It is the highest steel pipe concrete structure in the world, a symbolic building in Shenzhen crossing the centuries.

The total height of the building is 72 stories above ground, 4 stories underground. Total floor space 170,000 square meters. The four stories underground are parking levels; from the ground floor to the 8th floor is the electronics market, the 9th and 10th floors are restaurants and gourmet canters, the 11th and 12th floors are European restaurants and food supply center for the administration, from 13th to 49th floors are intellectualized office floors (Floor 19, 34 and 49 are the asylum levels), from the 50th to 60th floors are going to be a hotel in the air (Floor 63 is the asylum level and equipment cabinet), floor 69 is the sightseeing floor, the 70th and 71st floors are equipment levels, the 72nd floor is the landing ground for the helicopters.

Firstly I feel this building lacks character.
Secondly I dislike the top bit..looks cheap.
But considering that its so slim and tall..I do believe it must be stunning in person.

Ive never even heard of this one! . . reminds me of the old PanAm (MetLife) building in NY . . .not bad 6/10

this building is 350 something meter. The previous figure was wrong (it was the height to the roof).

Are you sure they are spires and not antennae, Vincent? On skyscrapers.com they consider them as not structurally part of the building. Also, if you look in the third picture in this thread, they look a lot like broadcasting antennae with the little things on top.

and also if you looked down at the top it would be the same shape as a stop sign.

It's got the height but it ain't that interesting considering when it was built... it does look like something from the 70's. ->6.5

7/10 - Nice, slender tower with good height, and the glass facade dances with the light. But the flat top with that awkwardly placed antenna really detract from the effect and it could have used a few more setbacks on the way up.

I very dull and uninspiring tower, even with the interesting octagonal massing. At leat the 8 sides is a good concpet, considering the Chinese peoples' obsession with thier lucky number 8.

Very decisive looking building... Full of authority over the buildings around it.. Heck it's the focal point in the skyline too! :) I like the nice blue glass but the spire looks really cheap.. :bash:

Decent building. Anchors skyline, not too boring, not flagrantly trying to grab attention. I think too many buildings put up spires, but this design is calling for one, something points, maybe round. The almost circular (octogonal) and tall and slim design need one. The color is pleasing, but not great, and the skyline already has too much glass in Shenzhen.

Seen in real, and it's seriously better than I expected.
The top doesn't look so bad, really. Night lighting is in fact very much acceptable for a building this shape, the lift core on the side is lighted up with some kind of shooting-star rays going all the way to the top. That's really cool-looking, although it cannot be seen from every angle.
The podium houses an IT and electronic goods mall.

I'd only ever seen the SSP diagram (http://www.skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?b342) for SEG Plaza. it looks amazing in the diagram but I'm a little disapointed after seeing photos of it. The second one in the link is the primary drawing but it looks more like the fifth one.

I think it could have done with darker blue glass and a different shape - rectangular or somthing with more perdendicular sides. I really like the Eureka-esque white strips and its a shame they didn't do more with it. Still quite impressive though. 7.5/10

the distance is 2,4 kilometers, so quite far away IMO :)

Octagonal design is pretty unique as far as I know and it looks good reflecting a blue sky 7.5/10

Manages some decent night shots but unfortunately it's a bit on the ugly side. Also considering the ugly design and fact it's a supertall can only mean a waste of materials.
