According to this article and Ankara major

the new stadiums will be at the old one.
So the 19 Mayis stadium (you can see it next to the new arena) will be demolished.
But first the arena. Maybe after 2010 we will see more news or even a project
The whole area will turned into a new and moden sports complex

I still can't decided if its an Arena or just a sports hall.
It has got only 8 suites, but 2 tiers.

I don't like the interior with those huge gates, i don't like it don't build it :D :jk:

Seriously, is it U/C, will they be able to finish the hall on-time (2010)?
If i had the power and the knowledge on venues design, i would transfer these matches of the tournament to another indoor hall, and on this i would redesign the interior and with no rush i would deliver the hall when i was complete ready, probably around 2011.

8 months huh? Tough situation you have there. If they work 16/24h a day, can they make it? :dunno: i think they can, ofcourse it depends how big the hall is but it isn't let's say as big as a football stadion.

But anyway they should be very fast, as like as Schuhmacher...............but I believe they will made it, as Croatians did for handball World Cup........extra fast

Vide an indoor arena in Sopot/Gdańsk (Poland) - its construction began in 2007, it was supposed to be a part of the Eurobasket 2009 and due to mistakes (what sometimes happens) connected with roof structure, it's still under construction. :ohno: Planners and builders in Ankara took such a risk but I hope their schedule will succeed and there won't be problems with the quality as well.

I don't think that the quality be like the new polish arenas.

Indoor sports is popular, but not so much that you need a lot of suites, lounges and bog arenas.
Currently most projects are a mix of arena and sports hall

Polish arenas doesn't have suts as well, they are normal, clean sport halls... Even the final venue in Katowize.

PS.There are 11 VIP suites in Atlas Arena in Łódź.The new arena in Gdańsk will be full of them.

Actually some people from Ankara said that the pics above are old.
2nd tier will be finished in some days and its planned to close the roof in November.

IMo the bowl of Sinan Erdem is better, but the outside is ehre better which is actually quite normal.
This one was designed in 2008. Sinan Erdem in 1990

The exterior is superb but the interior is just..... uglyyyy!!!
I hate the corners inside the arena....
IMO Sinan Erdem is better looking arena :)

It is very interesting to see the evolution of this conception since the beginning until today. I think that lot of people are going to be less critical now on the design

If you look closely, the "Sony" does not appear entirely, the Y is hidden, which would indicate it is moving, so it's a digital boards :banana:

At first I thought that the interior is ugly, but now... I'm lovin' it :)
I've read in TBF's site, that the capacity of the arena is 11k, is that true?

PS Great arena for Ankara, now we should wait for a new great stadium too :)
