I wonder why the gov. allows such roads to be opened up before guide lines are placed on them. That should be illegal, because it's very dangerous for traffic to be on such roads without the guild lines.

I've yet to see one bad roadway in the, so called, underfunded Niger Delta zones. How ODD.

I think they have just started rebuilding Niger-Delta roads in the last few years. Before then, there were only a few passable roads in the whole region. Still there are much fewer roads in ND compared to the Southwest, mostly due to the terrain (roads in the ND region have a lot of bridge portions).

Hopefully, the ND governors will deliver many more roads especially with increased scrutiny on how derivation funds are being spent.

Good riddance Alams and the gang.

You cant compare the amount of roads in which are in the ND to that in which is in the SW of Naija. The ND has significantly less people than the SW, so of course there'd be less roads because it's much more sparsely populated.

the intraregional highways in Nigeria are all crap...the roads have no white markings nor any guidlelines...Nigeria should go and look at countries like Malaysia or India...the latter is building beautiful multi-lane highways ...I wonder why a country like India is able to do it and Nigeria isn´t ...retranfer the $300Bn stoen by the fomer heads of state, money which is stashed away in European bank accounts and build proper highways which should be standard for a country like Nigeria. Nigeria is not CAR, it is Nigeria!

I visited calabar and passed through uyo recently. Just in case u dont knw, calabar is very neat and beautiful (quite unbelievable for a small nigerian city). And tourist attractions r being established (like the marina). Uyo's roads r neat and completley fitted wif all requirements. I alwayz wondered why many cities like PHC have roads without drainage and so in the following yrs after construction, there r pot holes everywhere.

^^ Akwa Ibom has some nice roads. With it's vast oil wealth and small population, it can become a fully developed state with state-of-art facilities. It seems their governor is trying a bit, but I'm sure a lot more can be done.

^^ so they have actually been fixing up this road? I have been hearing this but don't believe the road has changed significantly. the road should be made around 4 lanes both ways and it needs lane demarcations.

A masterplan for a 4 lane each way road should be made in conjuction with the construction of a new River Niger bridge.

Nigeria needs a complete road masterplan if one isn't already present.

I think this is Airport Road...It is a federal road dualised by the state Govt. I am not sure if the other half from the Airport to Oron is Dualised.

^^Correction, Only section 1 of the expressway has been completed, construction is still ongoing.

so they have actually been repaving this horrible road. I hope they repave the whole expressway from the eastern to western part of nigeria.
