It's a very elegant structure!

Where is it? Near to Centenario Stadium?
You know when it will be completed?

Fantasico !!!
It is a through back to the era when stadiums were built on a grand scale. Today you mainly see cookie cutter complexes with many functions but none of them done quite right.

Questions are pouring but he appears to have difficulties answering all of them. We need to secure more Uruguyan correspondents :) or guys from the same Spanish speaking countries could help us with it

the centenario stadium is in parque batlle, a neighbourhood of Montevideo, this stadium would be in the limit between the department of Montevideo and the department of Canelones (Metropolitan area of Montevideo).

the proyect is under aprovement.

According to what I've read, this stadium is just a proposal and is still under discussion at Canelones departament council. The club says they're working on it but they can't assure anything yet and it has even been said that this proposal is a strategy for the forthcoming club election.

Let's see what happens...

That is pretty. The bowl is kind of reminiscent of Toyota stadium, with the high arching sides that are square to the field, and lower curved ends, though the ends don't rise to the corners and the exterior is totally different. Really classy and clean lines through out. If it gets built this could be a benchmark for other mid sized stadiums to come.

Wow, this is a really nice stadium for Uruguay! The country really needs some fresh stadiums, especially for top clubs like penarol and nacional. Imagine this stadium being part of a joint Argentina / Uruguay world cup bid in 2026 or 2030 :).

2030 for sure 1930, 2030, Estadio Centenario for the final, that would pretty much set it in stone if their stadiums are up to FIFA standards. Think 4-6 stadiums in Uruguay and 6-8 in Argentina it should be pretty doable.

I hope only that it is not a replacement for that monster of a stadium where the national team plays. Because this is nice, but that is some impressive stuff.

edit
this one I mean.

That would be brilliant, to have the 2030 final in Estadio Centenario! I reckon 2 or possibly 3 stadiums in Uruguay is the maximum however for a potential Uruguay / Argentina bid. The only 100,000+ city in the country is Montevideo, and (almost) all clubs in their top football league are located there. An upgraded Estadio Centenario and this Estadio Parque Roosevelt (which is located in a seaside suburb near Montevideo, Ciudad de la Costa) would do fine for Uruguay. I'm sure Argentina can come up with 8 decent stadiums. You could have 2 in Buenos Aires ofcourse, and one in Cordoba, Rosario, Santa Fe, Mendoza, La Plata, and Salta each.

It would be interesting to hear what the Argentinian and Uruguayan forum members think of this!

Hi people! I am from argentina and, of course, I reckon that the final match of that hopeful 2030 WC is in Monumental Stadium. I say this because this stadium is even bigger and since i am fan of river haha.. well, taking seriously, it would be a pleasure to held such an important issue as the wc. I think that if uruguay and argentinean people work together this might be possible. Supose that uruguay stands 5 stadium and argentina other 8 this can be held. 2 Stadiums in montevideo (URU) 3 distributed i dont know where because uruguay doesnt have any other big city. then 2 stadiums in Buenos aires 1 in cordoba 1 rosario 1 mendoza 1 tucuman 1 mar del plata and thats all. i am expectant to know wether this is or not happening. PD: (SORRY FOR MY PRECARIOUS LEVEL OF ENGLISH)

I agree. I know the Centenario has all the history, but from what I can tell, it would need such a huge renovation to bring it into line with modern facilities, that a complete demolition and rebuild would be more appropriate. I'm sure there are many Uruguayans that would disagree with me.

the elegance of the roof and similarity of form remind me alot of saitama world cup stadium.

also looks quite similar to one of the generic stadiums in recent fifa games.

all that aside, this is a damn sexy stadium

Talking about cookie cutter stadiums. Have you seen Costa Rica's Nacional Stadium recently built? Estadio Parque looks almost identical in it's roof structure and the rest of the stadium look very similar as well. So, I think this stadium is far from original.
