View Full Version : City areas
stretch October 20th, 2003, 10:21 PM I got Sim City 3000 about 2 years ago and have just started playing it more again recently.I have a few good city's but most of you ppl seem to know alot about the basis for a good city.So what really defines a Downtown and Uptown etc in a city?.I have a rough idea but if I know fo'shore,I can make my cities more realistic!.
LoveCPH October 20th, 2003, 10:47 PM The Simcity 4 is more realistic :) And you have too wait wait if you want your city to grow..
In Simcity 3 is much easier.. But it gives me great feeling when I'm playing SC3. So I still like it.
Also SC4. Very cool. :D
Imperfect Ending October 23rd, 2003, 04:21 AM I like how realistic SC4 is and how easier it is.:)
johnbaker October 23rd, 2003, 01:47 PM No way is SC4 easier! I have sim city 4 but i never play it because its so hard, so I play SC3000 which is easier! I am obbsessed with that game, post your sim city 3000 screenshots in my thread, I like to see other peoples.
stretch October 23rd, 2003, 02:16 PM The only reason I dont play SC4 is coz I gots a sh*t computer,it only just manages to play SC3000...but thats good enough for me I suppose.I'll post some pic's of my City's in yo thread baker.I only got a few City's on the go tho',they are
Apple Bay (about 40,000 population)
Santroit City (about 800,000 population)
Minias (about 600,000 population)
Hawkstone (about 60,000 population)(my latest City)
I did have a City with a population of about 1,200,000 but ma sis' had ago at SC and saved over it wiv her sh*t hole of a City!!!:bash:
johnbaker October 24th, 2003, 08:12 PM Minias did you think of that?? If you did what a great city name!
stretch October 24th, 2003, 08:40 PM Ye I did!!:D
Sometimes I just make up random names, and other times I cross over real city names, for example SANTROIT CITY is SAN diego and deTROIT crossed ova',ahah! clever 'eh!:D
How do you come up wiv your city names...infact it'd be interesting to post this as a new thread!!!

london-b December 22nd, 2005, 03:45 AM 2 years later................
london-b December 22nd, 2005, 03:47 AM I must vote sim city 4
Siopao December 22nd, 2005, 04:12 AM SC4
card04 December 22nd, 2005, 04:23 PM SC4
BuffCity December 22nd, 2005, 07:19 PM SC4 simply takes SC3k to the next level, you have to work to build a great city, unlike sc3k. Anyone who thinks SC4 is easier than SC3k needs to stop playing small villages and build a metro.
I-275westcoastfl December 22nd, 2005, 07:26 PM My favorite is Sim City 4 because its more realistic but i liked how SC 3000 was easy i could actually make city of 600,000 very easy with no mass transit and keep it running that way now i get to 100,000 and the commute times and all that go crazy without a mass transit system.
matt_sbs December 23rd, 2005, 03:51 AM i agree with what you just said I-275westcoastfl. you need skill and proper city planning in order to create a great realistic city
matt_sbs December 23rd, 2005, 03:53 AM if you want the best out of simcity get simcity4 rush hour of deluxe edition

BuffCity December 23rd, 2005, 07:04 AM there are many types of cities in the world, some are dense and jammed, usually due to geographic reasons, so...if anyone builds a sea of skyscrapers in a region of flat land, it looks stupid, but if you have valleys and canyons or lots of waterways, it permits building like that.
Sprawl is the most common in the USA, NYC sprawls out way beyond the city limits into other states even. Miami sprawls north in Ft Lauderdale, but not much into the "glades"...it's all the geography (topography).
planning is the hardest part...thats is Sim City experience.
empersouf December 23rd, 2005, 02:51 PM SC4 no doubt.
Fabio December 23rd, 2005, 03:23 PM SC4 for sure, but I miss some features of SC3000, like the leveling tool.
radekmysza December 23rd, 2005, 08:20 PM SC4. But i instaled SC3000 last time and had many fun with this game, its great too:)
