Tameer Holding’s Elite Residence in Dubai Marina has reached its final height of 381m, almost 60m taller than the Eiffel Tower - and matching the peak of the Empire State Building in New York.

The roof structure and mast have recently been completed, and the tower crane has now been removed. The focus for the site team will now be on the completion of the internal finishes.

“It is a proud moment for Tameer to see one of our most iconic projects reach this important milestone,” said president Federico Tauber.

The AED1.7 billion tower includes a total of 697 apartments over 91 storeys and will be home to around 1,500 residents.

2005 YU55 asteroid will sweep near Earth November 8, 2011

The huge asteroid 2005 YU55 will sweep closely past the Earth – missing us by 319,000 kilometers (about 200,000 miles) – tomorrow. It’ll be the closest known passage of an asteroid this big – but there was an even closer passage to Earth of this same asteroid in 1976, which went undetected. This time, astronomers spotted it ahead of time. Does it make you feel safer – or more vulnerable? I’m not sure how it makes me feel!

On this November 8, 2011 passage, 2005 YU55 will come closer than the moon’s distance from Earth, but it will not strike Earth or the moon.


The time of closest passage will be November 8 at 5:28 p.m. CST (23:28 UTC).

I am pleasantly surprised how eye catching and interesting the roof features of Princess Tower, Elite Residence and Marina 23 are all turning out. They stand out very well against the low budget offerings of Mag, Marina Pinnacle and The Torch. Even Ocean Heights is a bit dissapointing from certain angles.

Went to see Mission Impossible last night. You can see the tallest block in a night shot. When tom cruise leaves the billionnaires palace in the car, which is supposed to be set in India. the billionnaires palace scene has been shot in a hotel on the palm.
