I think it more closely resembles the StanChart Jakarta building... at any rate! I have not seen any meaningful construction activity lately at the site... anyone knows what is going on?

It's still going.
I have witnessed the gradual development of the steel structure on the roof for the past few weeks.
I think it will be on track to open for this year's tourist season (end '07, early '08).

A shopkeeper in the newly refurbished shophouse row/courtyard next to Glasshause told me Hilton International will be setting-up right next door to him in what are now some empty townhouses on the main road and an old traditional house in the back.

the owner of the land wants to hold on to the row of townhouse on the right hand side, refurbish and extend the Hostel he already runs in the back but he may change his mind and let everything go.

So...within the next five years or so...that strech will be fully gentrified!

This building is more pleasant as a skeleton anyway, rather than with those cheap looking peep-holes ;)

Anyone know what's happening with this one? Site is completely devoid of any activity. Sukhumvit 31 Hotel might get finished first.

..the window tint is because I don't know how to set up proper lighting and make realistic materials in 3DS ;)

Bangkok authorities should impose a hefty fine on buildings left in this condition. Or require that developers deposit sufficient funds to cover completion of the exterior at the time they receive their building permit.

Does anyone have any update on this building? I really want to know what's going on with this if at all? And whether anyone knows if they have any plans going on about this building?

Yes it would be good to know what the future is for this hideous skeleton.

In 1997, hundreds of these skeletons were abandoned.
Quite a few, still left to rot, collect garbage and become housing for derelicts and soi dogs.
Add this place to the list.

After restructuring shareholders and debt, the listed real estate firm Grande Asset Hotels and Property Plc (GRAND) plans to continue development of two hotels and a condominium project[s] on Sukhumvit Road worth a combined 10 billion baht.

Chief executive Noppadol Mingchinda said his company's investment was frozen since 2008 after the bankruptcy of the global financial institution Lehman Brothers, which was formerly its major shareholder.


"The crash of Lehman Brothers directly affected the company's structure. Then Metro Premier Holding, a subsidiary of the listed firm Thai Property, became our new major shareholders," he said.

The second-largest shareholders are the Narula family.


When the new shareholders emerged, the company had 6 billion baht in debt excluding interest.

It made a debt haircut agreement, sold some of its assets, and raised 500 million baht in funds. Its debt now stands at 3 billion baht with accumulated losses of 1 billion.

One of its new projects is a hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 27 with 343 rooms that still needs decoration. :hilarious :hilarious :hilarious

It also has a mixed-use project on Sukhumvit Soi 13, comprising a 470-unit condominium worth 4 billion baht, a four-star hotel with 300 rooms and a shopping area with 30,000 square metres.

The Sukhumvit 13 project, launched in 2006, is 40-45% complete and needs an additional 14 billion baht to finish the project.

There are 150 customers waiting for unit transfer, which is scheduled for the end of 2013.

Grande Asset has four properties on hand: the Westin Grande Sukhumvit, Trendy Condominium in Bangkok, Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa and Hua Hin Blue Lagoon. It has 12 condominium units for sale and two villas in Hua Hin worth a combined 120 million baht.

Mr Noppadol said the major revenue stream was hotels at 700-800 million baht during a normal year, dropping to 500-600 million during years with the Suvarnabhumi airport seizure and the red-shirt riots.

Watcharakiti Watcharothai is the new chairman and chairman of the board of Thai Property Plc. Wichai Thongtang is chairman of the board of directors. Phornsiri Manoharn, a former governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, is also a director.
