Currently the largest single building in SE Asia. This tower contains 650 condominium units, 500 serviced apartments, 460 office units and 90 retail units.

The tower has a 40 storey high atrium and is topped off with a 30m dome which contain leisure areas and a revolving restaurant at the top. This area provide a sweeping 360 degree panoramic view of Bangkok and the Chao Phraya River.

The project took over 10 years to complete. It was conceived in the early 1990s by Prof Rangsan Torsuwan, a famous Thai architect and developer who first named the building Silom Precious Tower before Challenge Group took over the project in 1994. The building was renamed Royal Charoen Krung (RCK) and later State Tower.

The building's grand opening is scheduled for May 2004.

8.5/10 It looks modern to me...Maybe, becaue i am used to see this building many times. It is very luxury inside though...There is a nice restaurant and sports club on the top floor and luxury shopping center on 1st - 4th floor...

Its exterior looks too massive and sort of dislocated.
But it does look quite stunning at night, with the dome lighted up.

The top looks ridiculous, and I don't go for that temple/church entrance stick-on, either. A mere 3, sorry.

The balconies do make this building pretty ugly. Why do they have balconies on an office tower anyway? I like the little crown on top, but the rest of it is not great. 4.5/10

3.5/10 - The building is squat and clumsy looking; the balconies wreck the looks of the facade. The gold dome on the roos doesn't seem to go with the tower, and the "ruckus" of temple-like decor at several levels, running down the front to culminate in the main entrance, which is twisted out of allignment , seem heavy-handed, pretentious and awkward rather than majestic.
The parts here just don't flow together harmoniously at all.:ohno:

it's very wide & bulky...the design would have worked if it were a slender tower...i like the shape of the balconies too...this could have been an interesting building but they blew it....5/10

i wouldnt wonder why this is SE Asia's biggest.. its sooo fat.. 4.5 and the top doesnt fit the already bad looking building

I think it's really kind to provide so many balconies, the roof is also nice, but the shape and silhouette are too blocky.

Intriguing building, but, there seems to be much desired in set-backs and all. I bet it's sweet from the interior aspect.

Interesting stuff... I like repetitive windows or whatever those things are... But the sheer mass of this buildings spoils everything else.. The top also looks like it was hastily designed..

Looks fat from one side when you look at it from all sides you see that it really isn't an interesting illusion. If it were for the western columns that top would be perfect. Too many styles and influences for this to be really great. 6.5/10

the roof dome's pretty darn creative. but the rest of the building looks fat, bulky, and ho-hum. good thing this one got setbacks or else it would of been an even bigger wall than metlife (no offense metlife, i still like u).

The interior is amazing. While the balconies are aesthetically an eyesore, they do add a lot to the living inside. The top is not too bad during the day, but the bright light is horrible, but I dont rate buildings based on their lighting schemes and likewise for the sheer size of it.

The dome doesn't fit this building at all. I like the various elements involved, but they combined them in the wrong building. Also, the decks make for a derivative look, like a condo in any city. I don't think it's a total disaster, but it could certainly have been put together more judiciously. 6/10

i gave this building an 8.5. i think the dome and pillars are beautiful, and while a lot of people are saying it reminds them of a vegas casino, which is a good point, it reminds me more of a utopian skyscraper. all it needs is a waterfall and some hanging gardens. i think its beautiful.
