.....as i relive the memories of my recent roadtrip that took me to regions in three southern states here in India, namely, TamilNadu, Kerala and Karnataka. The main focus of this trip was eco-tourism, that saw me driving through the bio-diverse regions of Nilgiris in TamilNadu, Wayanad in Kerala and Bandipur in Karnataka. The last stop was in Mysore to visit the King's palace and Brindavan Gardens. Here's a sneak preview of the places in the order that i visited them and i will highlight for you in as much detail as possible the eco-diversity of this region in this thread.

Day1-Thursday morning-just outside Chennai city limits driving to the local IBM office for our last pick up.

I will stop and continue my tour with a visit to Hogenekkal Falls tomorrow. Certain portions of NH-4 from Chennai to Krishnagiri are 6-laned. The terrain of NH-7 varies from district to district and construction in some segments can slow one down.

Yes. The Vellore overpass was really cool. I wanted to take a pic, but we drove past quickly. I remain impressed with the road connectivity in TN , especially in the region following the Nilgiris, which i will showcase soon. I remember eating the best biriyani in Ambur at a place named 'Taj'. The taste still lingers in my tastebuds!.

I remember eating the best biriyani in Ambur at a place named 'Taj'. The taste still lingers in my tastebuds!.

The biryani I had in South India is much better than those I've tasted in Delhi. I will never forget the mutton biryanis I had in Chennai and Kannur in Kerala!

From being an auto buff to someone who likes taking long roadtrips, why, you must be the most adventurous person on SCC India. Thanks for sharing :cheers:

Did you try Star Biryani in Ambur?
It's the best, though I've never tried it myself:LOL
But biryani and Ambur are like Romeo and Juliet.

This concludes this roadtrip that took me throughsome magical parts of South India. India is a beautiful country indeed, especially the countryside and i consider myself fortunate that i am able to experience a lot this country has to offer in person. That's not nice that they are taking pictures with a guy just because he's tall
They are treating him like an inanimate object though he doesn't SEEM to care.
It's like taking pictures with the statue of liberty or something.

Anyways, Great Pics, and you contaminated me with this drive to visit India myself.
The last time I visited India, I visited about 50% of things you visited and traveled on many of the same roads.

Which road you took from wayanad to mysore if not through bandipur? I would like to try that road next time.

There is a place in between Sultan Batthery and Gudalur where all three states meet at a point (though you can see & identify that point only on a map). There is a dense forest out there. I was taken along by a forest ranger and i was allowed to venture into the forest with a rope tied to my waist and a funny looking helmet with a battery torch. I thought that the guy was trying to impress me.

OMG! It was an eerie experience. It was slush and I would have hardly gone in for 50 to 60 metres and it was pitch dark despite the fact that it was noon and the sun was shining. The forest ranger told me that the dense trees and vegetation never allow sun light to touch the ground for 1000s of years. Even the leaves falling from the trees take so much time (years) to get compost. I thought that I missed my way and hung on to the rope as if it was a lifeline. (It is true in one way!). I forgot to give the signals ie tugging the rope 3 times, a gap again 2 times. I almost panicked.

(The forest ranger later told me that there was a guy - his helper just behind me for emergency, though I was not told). Some Experience!
