I've been unsuccessful so far in getting tickets this years parade/preview, although I went for the past 2 years. But I'm glad I got to experience the last parade at the old stadium and the first one at Marina Bay.

yes i went wif my wife and sister-in-law... was my first time... refreshing experience!

i took some night shots, but did not turn out well, will post them when i hv time...either my camera not up to mark or my hands are not stable enough...:)

i plan to go flyer this saturday...NDP give away free rides for kids on 2nd n 9th Aug...so i'll take some kids along for a joy ride up on flyer...

That sounds swell, look forward to more pics (especially the views from of the IR from the Flyer) :D When I was there last year, I recall the legroom at the gallery was very tight. Barely enough space to squeeze in a bag, let alone a tripod. Didnt take the firework pics in the end...

Do you reckon the Flyer will be packed at the base on Sat evening with pedestrians?

yes raffie, i bet the flyer will be pack, Coz the free tickets for kids are for 2th and 9th Aug, i'm sure there is a beeline of crowd, so i'm really not too confident that i can get up there esp at the prime timing of the fire works.

so i reckon, i do an early afternoon spin on tht thing with the kids :)

the base of the flyer...emm u plan to take pictures from there? though i never been there, but i have the impression u dont get the best elevation there. Pack...i'm sure i'll be fully pack, shld be many people trying to go on the flyer to take pic of the fireworks

actually was planning to go there at night for coffee...but it may be swamped with people. Those places at the Esplanade definitely would be...

Singapor3 contributed the base :) I recall you did the 2006 banner. Maybe next year there should be an banner designing thread :cheers:

The Singapore banner is up right now! A pity that Sands construction site is messy in the banner.

The quality of the picture is bit bad but the skyline and pictures were well crop and taken.

Oh, definitely :D

But, with Sands constructed to full height, in future, the only (or best) place to catch the city skyline would be at the Esplanade / Merlion Park area. In future, drivng along ECP, one would only see the Sands Hotel Towers saoring high above, instead of the usual stunning city skyline.

Lets not forget that the Sands itself will have an expansive promenade area for public to enjoy the water and skyline, and a 1 ha skypark! It will create new angles to experience the cityview.

Also there is still the Flyer and the walk up the Benjamin Sheares Bridge. Lose some, gain more? :banana:

After the fireworks yesterday, the CBD area was shrouded in smoke for an hour or two... The skyline had even completely disappeared for quite a while.. Is that even healthy? Must have been really bad for those people living in the path of that smoke...
