This seems to be an apartment complex, and it is being built in the Maianga neighborhood. Unfortunately they do not yet have a website...the photo below is the best I could get.

The building that iOPCA is constructing is here depicted below. Apart from the project above , It is said that there will be an additional tower, a world-class one, costing more than 100 million Euros!!! (close to 160 million US dollars!!) . It will be located close to the Kaluanda building that you see in the picture above.

O Presidente do Conselho de Administração da construtora OPCA, Filipe Soares Franco, anunciou há dias, em Luanda, o arranque para breve de um segundo projecto imobiliário, num investimento orçado em mais de 100 milhões de euros.:banana:

Este novo projecto imobiliário, que reforça a presença da construtora portuguesa neste segmento do mercado angolano, «ficará situado junto ao Kinaxixi, em Luanda, e segue-se a um primeiro edifício, denominado Kualanda, agora apresentado ao mercado pela OPCA, cuja construção só deverá estar ultimada dentro de um ano, mas que tem já uma parte significativa da sua área vendida», adianta em comunicado.

O edifício Kualanda, que representa um investimento superior a 35 milhões de euros, «destina-se essencialmente à habitação, sendo constituído por quatro caves para estacionamento, r/c e sobreloja para comércio, três pisos de escritórios, 40 apartamentos em oito pisos e uma penthouse no último piso, num total de área de construção de 15,960m2», acrescenta.

Quanto ao segundo empreendimento, cuja construção se deverá iniciar em 2008, trata-se de um projecto «de grande qualidade e com localização de excelência».

Refira-se que a aposta na internacionalização e no mercado angolano em particular é considerada «estratégica para o desenvolvimento da OPCA», estando em estudo a concretização de novos projectos a desenvolver neste país.

Nice news. But I think the price is quite expensive, thats why most of the families in Luanda can't afford these houses.

..Well, that´s the price for good quality skyscraper construction.. $160 million will get a pretty decent skyscraper.

What suprises me is that all of the towers and buildings are already sold out before they start construction, if I remember well what Blacklion told us here.

The skyscraper we see above will cost 35 million! So the 160 million tower will be a wholly different dimesion!

if this pace of construction continues or even accelerates in the next 10-15 years (which is most likely) Luanda will play in the top-end capitals of the world (in terms of urban living and lifestyle)

^^ But 35million euros for 40 apartments? I still thinking that is a little expensive.
And yes, Matt selling out before the construction is started, is very normal in Luanda.

Não foi uma fusão das duas... A OPCA comprou a Sopol. A fusão que se deu foi das marcas comerciais.

Quanto mais edificios mais sombras nas ruas e menos quente on the ground level...
Por uma luanda menos quente lo ja que as arvores nao sao cuidadas nem plantadas

se luanda tiver muitos predios mais quente vai ficar...especialmente se os predios forem de vidros e por ai fora...

tem lógica esta preocupação e será que o governo tem em mente esse facto :)
