designed by Skidmore,Owings & Merrill for the city's dominant bank at the time Southeast Bank. This was the tallest building in Florida until the Four Seasons Tower topped off at 794'/242m this year. This building has won numerous awards including the TOBY award in the US (The Office Building of the Year) in 1990,1996 & 1999 and in 1997 was named by the Wall Street Journal as one of the 50 best buildings in the US.

Great and distinctive roof! At 233m it is pretty tall as well.

I give it a 9. It is elegant, nice height, and looks differently depending from what direction you are looking it from.

I guess being the tallest in the state I live in (until the Four Seasons is done) had something to do with it having a high profile for me personally. I've always liked this building. It does alot with its shape, without actually having a distinctive crown, like a PoMo tower.Something I like about the building that is rarely seen in skyline photos is the trellised plaza on the other side of the building.

It has the same logic as a building we have in Toronto, with the set backs comes lots of corner offices and makes for a great view. One of my favourite in miami. 9.5/10

Too bad the only interest in this building seems to be the top, plus there is no proper view of the base. The top doesn't play much of a role for the pedestrian at street level, even from a few blocks away, especially because only one side of the top seems to have gotten special treatment here. A picture of the base would have been nice.

But, since the top is quite well turned out and SOM have been known to turn out some much more boring projects ;), a 7.

5 I don't know... I've just never liked this building... there doesn't seem to be anything interesting about it other than the cubes on the top... which I find a bit ugly

It's The Best Looking Tower In The City. Also It Has Amazing Views Of The Whole City And Look's Different At Every Side. Also The Tower's Color Look's Different, Several Times A Day.

7.5/10, and possibly that should have been an 8/10. - the "pleats" along the facade make the shape livlier, and the cubes along the roof imake it less monotonous than your typical flat top. There's also good contrast between stone and windows.

Still, it could use a little something more, though I'm not quite sure what...

7/10 the block pattern is nice:)

10/10. Wachovia FC is excellent, and the cubical top and facade is what keeps it from being boxy -- reminds me of SunTrust Plaza in Atlanta w/o the glass. Too bad 4 Seasons stole the tallest in Miami honor, but to me it is really the tallest still because it is CBD centralized.

A very nice building that adds a lot to the Miami skyline. I give it a 9/10. :okay:

The repeated window pattern gives this one a non-boring very funny (in a nice way) style. The top is definitely very amusing and it is nicely sized. The street level covered area looks nice as well. Good.
I think they could have done something much better for the lighting at night.

Yet another similar SOM design with those corners, I didnt realize just how many they have done. This one has a nice facade though 7.5/10

Thanks Raffles CIty for the diagram. Every pic had a different look to it I couldn't figure out exactly what the floor plan was like especially near the top. Great tower. i like how its not uniform and you get a different look with each angle.

9.5/10 I prefer Miami's Four Seasons Tower however.

I gave it a 10. It is still my favorite building here in Miami after all these years. It has stood the test of time very well.
