The number of mobile phone lines in Morocco rose to 21.412 million at the end of June from 20.616 million in March, according to the quarterly update from market update ANRT. Growth accelerated from 587,000 new additions in Q1 and 512,000 in Q2 2007. Mobile penetration is now at 69.43 percent of the population versus 57.82 percent a year ago. Market leader Maroc Telecom took most of the new subscribers, seeing its base rise to 14.211 million in June from 13.697 million in March. Rival Meditel grew to 7.201 million customers from 6.919 million. The number of internet service subscribers also showed solid growth in the quarter, rising to 653,591 at the end of June from 581,866 in March. ADSL makes up 74.7 percent of subscribers, while 24.3 percent use 3G mobile networks.

great but not 100 % little kids under age 8 usually do not have mobile phones

In some European countries the penetration rate is about 105% or 110%, because more and more people buy 2 mobiles (professional and personal, or 2 personal!), i think we are going to reach that rate too by 2010
