Hopefully the ISI won't come knocking on my door. I hope I'm not giving away any national secrets :shifty:

Its just that it looked a bit too quiet. Generally young people don't like places like that because they can't get away with anything there as it becomes a big family of sort where everyone knows everyone else AND their kids.

A mess is a central place on the base where officers can go to eat lunch/dinner, a place that acts as a hotel to visiting officers, handles the base mail, is an information point etc

I took these pics in the morning, so nobody was in the pics. I could hardly take pics with people in them, I'd get asked what the heck I was doing :lol:

For a kid this place is not bad. There's parks and open spaces for them to play, and they can leave their bikes outside and moms can let their kids wander around without worrying about them getting abducted.

The PAF museum just next door used to have a concert every week so teens used to have something to do nearby as well (other than the sports they played daily), but now due to security threats no more concerts are held at the museum. I once went to a Junoon concert there which had a crowd of 35,000 people.

These are houses for air commodores (equivalent rank to Brigader) and retired offiecers who are alloted these houses for 1 year until they get their houses in civilian areas built (most move to DHA afterwards). I will post more pics of that part of the base later, will need my car to there, to lazy to walk there.

Previous KDA has ruined Superhighway area. They could have used this huge huge area for international level development projects like Bahria Town or the relocation of wholesale markets of Karachi and business districts but it is all a lost dream, nothing can be done of this area now. You can find farm houses, infinite numbers of small and crap private housing projects with no connecting infrastructure. This huge area could have been a prime location but it will a mess like Orangi town in a few years.

And Brighty that is the Wood vendor where all the bamboo's are standing. You can buy local wooden goods from there at nominal price :P.

JUst saw it. My friend lived in one of these houses at the PAF base (his famiyl's still there). His dad was a pilot. If my friend's right, his dad crashed the first PAF plane. Anyway, there are several identical houses in a line, nothing special about this one. I beleive these houses are about a 100 y.o.

These houses are nice, I wanna live in one of em. There's different classes of homes at military bases, in the PAF its as follows:

A type - Air Chief Marshal
B type - Air Vice Marshall's
C type - Air Commodores
D type (houses) - Group Captains (in KHI, ISL and LHR), Wing Commanders (operational bases like Risalpur, Mianwali, Sargodha etc)
D type (apartments) - As above
E type houses/apartments - Wing Commanders/Squadron Leaders/Flight Lieutenants(in KHI, LHR, ISL)

Below that are homes for airmen.

I need to take more pics of Karachi. A couple of nice buildings on Shah-rae-Faisal and plenty in Clifton.

Got back from an epic trip to Islamabad, Murree and Kalabagh. Stayed in AHQ in E9 in Islamabad, and Lower Topa base near Murree. I'll revive this thread to post the pics I took.

It had been a while since I had visited Islamabad, and I am happy to say we have such a gorgeous, clean, green and developed city as our capital! No city in South Asia comes close, the roads are wide and without a single pothole, reminded me of roads in North America. There is virtually no street crime, and literacy rate must be highest in Pakistan along with an HDI above 0.9.

I'm gonna start off with shots of Islamabad's streets and homes. We've seen plenty of pictures of the projects and main areas, but its these shots which really show you how the rest of the city is like, and shows the standard of living there. Karachi's DHA is similarly developed, but I noticed that roads are superior in Islamabad, and apartment buildings are like those in western countries, i.e. they have little security, and are much cleaner and well maintained.
