HONOLULU (AP) - Metropolitan leaders and experts from a variety of Asian and U.S. cities have gathered at the East-West Center in Honolulu this week for a seminar on critical urbanization issues facing Asia's cities.
"Urban Transformation in Asia: Policy Implications of Decentralization" will examine current trends and implications of rapid urbanization of Asian cities.
A systems-wide approach -- political, economic and social -- is being used at the seminar that runs through Wednesday. There's a special focus on issues of urban governance.
Among those attending are the mayors of Kathmandu, Nepal, and Quezon City, the Philippines.
