Sunny Beach - a top resort at the Black Sea

This is the Bulgarian resort of Sunny Beach which I visited this summer and felt very good there. I will post some selective pictures I took during the vacation in Sunny Beach. More comments later on. :)

What stroke me from the begining was the huge amount of new and quality hotel and residential buildings, as well as the mediteranean style of architecture.

Exactly, I stayed at the Majestic (4*). Impressive building indeed. And I also visited the nearby 5* Victoria Palace which is really mindblowing.

My favourite hotel (in architecture aspect) is the Helena Palace. It's not as luxury as those 2, but it's really nice. I think it's owned by a Spanish brand, Riu.

I was in the N part of Sunny Beach, yes, close to Saint Vlas.

But I do not understand Bulgarians' grudge against SB, since I noticed the resort is packed with Brits (hell, they drink a lot!), Germans (hell, they eat a lot!), Danish, Sweds, Finish etc. They seemed to enjoy it very much and bring a lot of $$$ to Bulgaria. So why the grudge???

Not only the Brits and Germans, but also Slovaks, Czechs, Hungarians, Serbians, etc. This place is still quite cheap for CE tourists :)

The grudge is for several reasons:
1) It became too dense; it used have more nature and far fewer buildings.
2) It went from having a unified architectural image to different hotels in all the colors of the rainbow, built wherever, by whomever.
3) A lot of rules regarding construction times (building new hotels during the season) weren't followed, which pissed off many tourists, because certain parts were dusty and it was loud.

But tha main reason is that it went from a tree-filled calm resort with 20,000 beds to a dense city-like area; and some of the money might have had a dity orginin (read: our money stolen by the communists).

But it's probably a fun place, haven't been since '04, and I'm glad you liket it :okay:

^^помня слънчев брят от 98-99,точно преди да почне унищожението му,тогава наистина беше хубав курорт,макар и да нямаше още нови "луксозни" хотели,караше се още на тези построени по време на комунизма-Шипка,Персенк,Кубан,който си снимал,но вече обновен,бяха доста семпли като екстри,нямаше климатици,тв и кабелна ,пердедтата бяха стари,но поне курортът беше място ,където можеше наистина да починеш ,имаше си все още вилни зони и къмпинги с палатки ,сега за да си мъж на средна възраст с деца и да отидеш да почиваш там трябва да си с доста объркато разбиране за почивка.пълно е с разни селски пияндурници от англия заедно с грозните им приятелки ,както и с български наркоманчетата,целия курорт е претъпкан и трафика е ужасен.......а бе всичко това го знаете де,ама сега като гледам снимките ме хваща малко яд,как бг курортите се унищожиха в името на социално слабите европейци,ужас....и тия румънци ако смятат сънито за топ резорт:lol: малеее какви ли трябва да са техите.....топ резорт:lol::lol:

^^ ЦЦЦ, ако отиваш в Слънчев Бряг значи не си с идеята да почиваш.По нашето Черноморие има достатъчно семейни курорти, в които можеш да починеш с детето си.Аз например като отивам на море искам да е размазвация и да си правя кефа и да не се спирам за нито секунда, а не да ми е почивка и тъпотия.Така че недей да гледаш всичко от твоята камбанария!

^^ ЦЦЦ, ако отиваш в Слънчев Бряг значи не си с идеята да почиваш.По нашето Черноморие има достатъчно семейни курорти, в които можеш да починеш с детето си.Аз например като отивам на море искам да е размазвация и да си правя кефа и да не се спирам за нито секунда, а не да ми е почивка и тъпотия.Така че недей да гледаш всичко от твоята камбанария!

НЕ гледам само от моята камбанария,това е мнението на много хора,в Слънчев бряг се събира така наречения eurotrash гарниран с добро количесто български боклуци и мутри......и сега пак като прочета топ ризорт.....такъв смях ме напушва:lol:

They're all very nice.. you just have to know what you're looking for. If your idea for vacation is to be alone, then you need to have your own house in a village. When I go to these places, I do it because I'm young and I want to party and go to the beach :)

They're getting a little too dense, but I think it's still tolerable, at least in Golden Sands. (Haven't been in Sunny Beach for a few years now). The main things they should change imo is to get rid of many of the stalls and stands, especially those between the beach and the main promenade, because they make it feel too crowded and block the view.

Otherwise, for those interested in something quieter while staying at nice hotels, there're Riviera, Sunny Day, Elenite, etc.. They just cost more :cheers:

Sunny beach is not a relaxing family resort, but its lively. Lets hope the whole coast doesn't end up like sunny beach.

I'm agree with mdka.Most of the tourists are really eurotrash.Having sex on the beach,drunk men as tomgirl,screaming from their "drunkness",fighting with each other or with us...maybe thats way Bulgaria was annaunce of the country without any laws,the country of the cheap drugs and drink.It is sad that for some resorts the whole seaside start to be "dirty",as Sunny Beach and then Golden Sands,a good resort village as Chernomorec,Pomorie,Nesebar,Albena etc have a bad reputation too.
All that was captured by bTV.I've never seen so drunk nation as Britains,next Scandinavians.I was surprise that all russians that I've seen,talking,etc are really calm ppl and dunno why everyone say "russian-vodka".

those stuffed animals and shabby stands along the promenade don't really fit in with the nice hotels. looks like a circus a bit.
btw isn't there a governing body (Sl. Briag AD) that manages the resort? Or is Nessebar muni in charge?

^^ ЦЦЦ, ако отиваш в Слънчев Бряг значи не си с идеята да почиваш.По нашето Черноморие има достатъчно семейни курорти, в които можеш да починеш с детето си.Аз например като отивам на море искам да е размазвация и да си правя кефа и да не се спирам за нито секунда, а не да ми е почивка и тъпотия.Така че недей да гледаш всичко от твоята камбанария!

Аз бих казал, че ти гледаш само от твоята камбанария.
По нашето черноморие почти НЯМА места, където можеш да си починеш, ама наистина да си починеш, ако имаш деца. Предполагам, че ти нямаш затова смяташ, че има такива. Само че ако отидеш на заведение с деца, където ти се наложи да чакаш да ти донесат меню, че после и ядене, в това време децата са пощръклели, и яденето минава надве-натри, за да бъде последвано от великото оправяне на сметката, което отнема много време, няма да бъдеш на такова мнение. Щото почивката трябва да бъде и за теб, и за децата. Такива места се броят на пръсти. Аз съм си намерил едно такова, което даже не се намира на брега, а малко по-навътре, тази година отидох за втори път в последните 3 години, и почивката на това място е единствената причина да поема по пътя към нашето черноморие. Знам какво е и с деца и без деца, и в България и в чужбина. Нашият продукт за съжаление не струва.

От всички места които посетих тази година, СБ ми беше най-некомфортен и най-чужд. Никакви паркове, тъпи атракции на безумни цени, най-низшите делавераджийчета които се навъртат около западните туристи като риби-паразити около акула, 100 различни архитектурни стила, презастрояване, единственото хубаво са оправените пътища. Трябваше да го видя за първи път от 10 години, и да го снимам, но определено не мисля че има какво повече да намеря там. След 10 години може пак да намина. Снимките ще кача скоро....

Бих казал че Балчик е подходящо място ако си с деца. Мястото е много тихо по принцип, защото всичките заведения се намират долу на плажната ивица, а Балчик е разположен малко терасовидно, например в централната част вечерта е абсолютно пусто. Обслужването в заведенията беше завидно добро, цените бяха по-ниски отколкото в София, при това имаше много добри рибни ресторанти. Обаче откъм атракции за деца е малко криво - няма примерно аквапарк. За сметка на това Албена и Златните са наблизо.

Аз не съм някакъв спец по българското черноморие де, в последните години ходя повече в чужбина отколкото в България, но поне един уикенд прекарваме на нашето море. Преди ходих предимно на Созопол, след това на Влас - и двете места не ми харесва на какво са заприличали. Северното черноморие го има това дето преди беше типично за цялото черноморие, но се съмнявам че и там ще оцелее.

Абе то цените тази година,говореха достатъчно за качеството на курорта,можеше да се вземе вила,и то в хубавата част към свети влас,под боровите горички,за 60 лв на нощувка и то не говоря сега септември ами в средата на август:nuts: дори хората се изненадоха ,че е толкова евтино,което си има и добрата страна де повече българи ще могат да се нсладят на "елитния" курорт ,особено догодина
