Its useless to close the threads.. 3tmk can unite the threads and I think this is the best option.

Yesterday I was in the rila mountain in the Beli Iskar valley after the village Beli Iskar, the valley divides the central part with the eastern part of the amazing rila mountain and Musala is one of the peaks which can be seen from the valley from a height of 1700 m so the difference in height is 1200 m. Unfortunately it isnīt accesible by car since the road is blocked by a barrier of the fucking water police since thereīs a big artificial lake there and the dumb idiots block tourists from entering theamazing rila mountain. Still there are a lot of great rockwalls in the first 8 km of the valley which are more than enough, the valley has extremly steep slopes going up there and many many rockwalls and a big river with big rocks in it. It is astonishing.

http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/3883/1010456kl7.jpg
The most amazing rockwall Iīve seen there, itīs like in south tyrol, with this and other walls the Rila mountain pwns all other mountains by far.

Ok, if you donīt reply here you proove that you donīt respect Bulgarian nature but only respect your local nature and local mountains, if you live in Stara planina you like Stara planina most, if you live in Pirin, Pirin and so on. And you love Pirin because you think itīs the steepest mountain altough it isnīt. Itīs prooven by alpine sites and magazines that Rila is the most alpine mountain in Bulgaria.

http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/1374/describtionkb9.jpg

this is a overview pic of the most extreme valleyplace in the Rila mountain. The starting point is Kirilova poliana where you have the view to the steepest and biggest rockwalls in Bulgaria. Yesterday I went to place 2 I donīt know hwere exactly I had the view but it was on the path to the Suhoto ezero lake. Three is no path to place 1 with the best view to the main steep peaks but you must pass through the forest and if you ask people, they will recommend you not to do but this is silly since you always have the orientation since you can look at the mountains which can be seen from Kirilova poliana. Place 3 is also very amazing. you are standing right under the steep rocky slopes in the narrow valley and the difference from valley to peak there is 800 - 850 m. And on place 3 the slopes are very very close together so you have really to raise your head to see the tops, that place probably doesnīt even have much sun.

Pics of place 2 are coming and of the way to place 3 but a few 100 m. away from it. I didnīt reach place 3 because I was too tired, I went from Kirilova poliana to place two and than to Kirilova Poliana and walked to Qvora and than on the path to place 3 a bit but then returned. Next time I will reach place 3 and I want to reach place 1, too, since there are the most amazing views of all the place in the amazing Rila valley of the Riilska river.

Thanks Radi, great pictures  !

I especially like the vast shady forests. They remind me a lot of the ones in Romania. By contrast the Alps have more meadows instead.

I bet the air is extremely clean and you can actually sense the smell of fir trees, right?

We know that our mountains canīt compare to the Alps, the highest height difference valley - peak here in rila is 1400 m and 1500 m which is good for Alps standart, too but thatīs in one valley, in all big valleys you have a few places with height differences of more than 1000 m, which is not bad. The good thing in rila is that most slopes are very smooth so they look bigger. If you look in Nasa worldwind you can see that most slopes of the big valleys are smooth, so are the rockwalls and thatīs good because the walls look more like one. In the Alps you have many peaks with walls which look like steep stairs or so and have lots of debris. Half the peak is wall, the lower half is debris that doesnīt look as great as the whole peak of massive rock. the Rila mountain is definatly a mountain with great characteristics.

The Rila mountain burns, a valley near Blagoevgrad, the fucking whtether and the not competent stuff canīt stop the fucking fire so the mountain burns.:cry::cry: I never thought the Rila mountain will burn since itīs the mountain with the most water in Bulgaria but it seems that even this mountain canīt serve the heat and dryness of this year. The rila mountain is the only real mountain in bulgaria, only there you really find big slopes and typical characteristics you see in big mountain ranges like the Alps and Rocky mountains. It has lots of deep long valleys and numerous peaks which canīt be climbed without alpine equipment and experience, Pirin lacks both, deep valleys and alpine peaks.

Rila has surprisingly many faces and the landscape is very different. The average height of the hills doesn't play a significant role and places with the same altitude have almost disparate flora.

OMG, I thought you would post your own highres pics, instead you post some lowres website pics which anyone can find easily with google image search, I also have them all.

I didn't possess a digital camera or a good cell phone the last time(a few years ago) I was in Rila. Furthermore, I'd made my photobucket account automatically resize all pictures to at most 800x600 because otherwise I've to scroll the page in order to see the whole 1024x768 or bigger ones. Not everybody is like you- thrilled to see 1600x1200 photo of Rila taken under a big angle from a distance of 10km or more and on altitude of several hundred metres, showing nothing but coniferous trees and foggy weather.

Are you blind or what, Iīve showed many pics of the rila mountain, some just one page back where the slopes are a few 100 m away, not 10 km.
