berkshire royal August 19th, 2008, 03:30 AM It's certainly beginning to look good when it's finished it will be a terrific stadium. But isn't 46,500 a bit big for Lech Poznan will they be able to fill the stadium regularly? It’s a worry of mine about EURO 2012 that many of the stadiums are going to be to much to big for the clubs that will use them after and before the championships and Poznan is probably one of the few that has a large following but do clubs such as Slask Wroclaw and Lechia Gdansk need 40,000+ stadiums?
ufonut August 19th, 2008, 04:12 AM Attendance is on the increase in Poland. Good venues will provide better security so hopefully even more people will decide to come and see the games.
bing222 August 19th, 2008, 10:27 AM any website of stadium?

Absolutely right. Newly built and greatly refurbished stadiums in Poland will never fail to attract much bigger crowds to football games than before - at least doubling the attendance figure in Polish football, IMO.

Wódz October 19th, 2008, 10:26 PM I saw the visualisations obviously. Propably you didn't get what I meant. Well, I'm gonna shortly explain what I was talking about. I've heard are few problems on 4th tribune with crumbled concrete elements for example, so I guess it needs to get fixed before Euro 2012. My question is, plans include fixing these problems or not?
Lech Poznań fans association "Wiara Lecha" (we can traslate this name like "Lech Faith", but it isn't a perfect translation ;) ) writed a open letter with list of these problems. They send it to President of Poznań and POSiR - Sport and Recreation Poznań Centre (they manage the stadium).
About week ago a special commision with President of Poznań, the head of POSiR, head of "Wiara Lecha" and stadium designer go to a stadium to officially see problems at 4th tribune anf 2nd tribune. They also declared, that they will do everything to solve these problems. We will see :P
I'm sorry, if I did some mistakes - I'm still learning english ;)

berkshire royal October 23rd, 2008, 10:28 PM It's a shame they are demolishing the floodlights they have a lot character and still look to be in pretty good shape. For me floodlights are the ultimate symbol of a football stadium it really is a shame that they are dying out.
Is the new third tier open for UEFA Cup games if so does anyone have any pics?
AdrianSuvalkai October 24th, 2008, 01:00 AM These floodlights were built in '86. You have a lot of right, these pilars were symbol of Poznań, but they people want new stadium. In new stadium isn't place for these floodlights.
We haven't photos from 3 tier, because Lech Poznań isn't play today in UEFA Cup.

Zorba November 11th, 2008, 11:39 AM This stadium currently makes no sense. lol. But I think the finished product will be nice (looking at the designs).
Dzwonsson November 11th, 2008, 06:59 PM ^^ Temporary it doesn't make sense, obviously, you're right. However we have to take point of view of this stadium through fact it's still under construction. Let's wait patient to final effect. :)

It does.
Jim856796 November 23rd, 2008, 01:51 AM The renderings of the ultimately completed stadium on the first page show that one stand is shorter than the rest of the stadium.
Dzwonsson November 23rd, 2008, 03:35 PM ^^ That's right. But that's also very easy to explain. Smaller stand you're talking about has been built as the first one, and then nobody was thinking and dreaming concerning organising Euro 2012. However after few years Poland got chosen as one of the organisers of the tournament and all of plans concerning modernisation of the stadium got changed automatically to follow all of the rules appointed by UEFA. Of course, demolishing new stand couldn't be taken in making new plans on the way of financial side, and therefore we got really original final project you saw on visualisation. ;)
masterpaul November 24th, 2008, 11:01 AM Then in the future, u can expand the stadium, by demolishing the "shorter, oldier stand" and then rebuilding it in the style of the rest of the stadium.

Dzwonsson November 24th, 2008, 10:29 PM Well, what will be capacity of the stadium on match against Deportivo coming soon? Will it reach 20k? ;)
AdrianSuvalkai November 26th, 2008, 04:33 PM IMO on match against Depor will be 20k :)
Jasiu. December 18th, 2008, 03:26 PM From yesterday:
http://www.budowa.maroonpoint.com/
The capacity of the new stadium will be 45,830. Construction of the first and third stand will start with 5 January. Opening date is for now May or June 2010.The capacity of the stadium will be reduced to 41.018 for Euro 2012 (becouse of journalist and Vip's).
Lech beat Feyenord in Rotterdam 1:0. So we are in last 32 of Uefa Cup:).

Jasiu. December 18th, 2008, 09:57 PM ^^
And whose it is a fault that they had a lot of injuries and also they are in poor form? Their problem.
Sorry for OT.
AdrianSuvalkai January 6th, 2009, 04:38 PM In December two old stands has been demolished. In the middle of January there will begin building the foundations of two new stands. On this stadium Lech Poznan will play in 1/16 UEFA Cup with Udinese Calcio.

So it was just a "temporary" part to connect the new with the old one?
Sponsor January 6th, 2009, 10:12 PM So it was just a "temporary" part to connect the new with the old one?
I don't know exactly what this part has been built for, but it wasn't connected with the old stand :dunno:
Chimaera January 7th, 2009, 11:31 AM Too bad they opted for "straight" corners (90 degrees, facing the stands) instead of round or 45 degrees corners facing the pitch.
Another design flaw, if you can call it that, can be seen on the second photo. The two goal stands are not "aligned". It looks like they should move one stand closer or the other stand further from the pitch in order to properly connect them when building a new side stand between them (that is, if they were mounted on wheels ;)).
But maybe I should have a look at the renders before drawing such conclusions.

Dzwonsson January 8th, 2009, 01:37 PM I don't know exactly what this part has been built for, but it wasn't connected with the old stand :dunno:That part had been built following one of the former projects... Take a look at visualisation below:

Jasiu. January 20th, 2009, 05:53 PM Construction of I and III stand starts in next week.
Chimaera January 21st, 2009, 12:49 AM Still, the number of seats in the corners actually facing the pitch is reduced. And another thing: there is something about the stadium I do not understand. I mentioned the difference in distance to the pitch, it is easy to make a vertical drawing that appears to make sense, but when you start to think of it, looks impossible, like Escher's art.
In this particular case: the upper and lower side stands on the drawing are, according to me, impossible to connect with the goal stand on the right. Or are they not connected and will the corners "float"?
I can't figure it out.

NMAISTER007 June 24th, 2009, 11:23 PM Why did they remove the seats from those corners? Are they planing to demolish them and rebuild them to match with the side tribunes?
Im not sure but i think that the reason why they removed the seats from there is because they needed to continue building that row of concrete so that the stadium will connect completely. Im not sure, lets just hear what the pole's have to say (Im Ukrainian, its just im really interested in the Euro 2012 tournament and the preparations in both countries)
berkshire royal June 24th, 2009, 11:59 PM Are they going to be putting in bucket or tip up seats? I really like this stadium it has a very interesting design.
Bartek Suchy June 25th, 2009, 04:13 PM The corners will be rebuilt, so that is the reason seats were removed. The angle of the corner is now 90 degress and they want to "curve" a little bit. You can see it on this picture, it's the east stand's corner.

Sponsor June 26th, 2009, 03:07 AM Each seat will be replaced by new one. Finally all seats will be blue with no any kind of writings because it's a city stadium.
berkshire royal June 26th, 2009, 03:12 AM ^^
Do you know what type of seats will be put in place? Will they be the better looking and better in general tip up seats or will they be bucket seats like what is already in place.

Relax there is even too much space because the distance beetween pitch and behind-the-goal stands was over 10 m and this value is not gonna change.
BTW new side stands will be about 6-7 meters from the pitch which is great in my opinion.

The stadium so far is looking good ;)

NMAISTER007 July 9th, 2009, 10:39 PM This stadium looks small from above. When will these stands be finished?
Hmm, but the status of the construction of this stadium, the stands will probably be finished by about November (2009) or something, i'm not sure though.
Cracovia July 9th, 2009, 10:44 PM stadium should be completed in june 2010
Jarrek July 14th, 2009, 08:41 AM Each seat will be replaced by new one. Finally all seats will be blue with no any kind of writings because it's a city stadium.
They should put in at least POZNAN in the design ...
www.sercan.de July 14th, 2009, 01:48 PM am i wrong or will this be the biggest club football stadium?

The corners of this stadium are a complete mess. They lack symmetry and look rather forced and crooked. It looks horrible in my opinion. Also, the smaller stand behind the goal breaks the harmony and flow of the stadium with its ugly separation from the rest. The stadium looks really flawed and doesn't impress me in the slightest.
It's a well known fact that this stadium is plagued by errors in design and construction.

I think a lot of fans visiting this stadium during Euro 2012 will be surprised to discover more of such architectural gems as shown above. It's a shame really because it could have been a nice stadium, but the inept architect just ruined it.
PiotrG July 14th, 2009, 06:21 PM EURO will be in June and July, so isn't what to worry about the snow and rains. As a matter of fact 3 new podiums will be made well, and the podium nr4 will be probably modernised to the purpose of the preliminary of defects.
Bogus Law July 14th, 2009, 06:22 PM ^^well, surely the biggest (in terms of capacity) doesn't mean the greatest. But that's how it is when the concept of the stadium is changed several times, its constructing lasts for ages and it's broken into stages, one stand after one. IMO both Lech and Wisła stadiums are the finest examples of how not to build a stadium.
Of course I know that it was much about money (and people from Poznan and the region are famous in Poland for their frugality) but it seems that economy doesn't always pay.
smoo0okie July 14th, 2009, 06:39 PM Great stadium by look, not maybe if u sit in those corners they should have rounded them abit.
mihai_alex July 14th, 2009, 07:10 PM Shitty corners, cracks, narrow corridors etc,who cares?you're all spoiled, good fan atmosphere is much more important for me,as long as it's safe and has a roof on,it's perfect.
likasz July 14th, 2009, 07:22 PM ^^As I have heard, they are going to fix those corners so it will not be a problem in 2012.
Maybe it is not the best stadium in Europe but since 2011 it will be not worst than most of European stadiums with capacity over 40,000.
www.sercan.de July 14th, 2009, 09:31 PM IMO its the same like Fenerbahce stadium.
You just have "errors" if you change the design

Not only that, but notice the giant gaps between the stands. You could drive a tank through them.

Those gaps are needed to make space for roof elements installation. To be filled finally.

That's not entirely true, both end sections were there originally and i'm not sure whether the design was the same when they built as it is now. I have to say i love the design of this stadium.

I think that only the smaller end section was there originally. The bigger one was built not so long ago and according to the current design.
Bartek Suchy July 16th, 2009, 10:34 PM The smaller end section is also new...it was built in 2004, the roof of this stand even in 2006. Then they started to build the second stand and it had 2 tiers originally and it was supposed to look like the smaller stand. The project was changed, 3rd tier was built and the oldest stand now does not match the whole project...but it is not as old as some may think.

Chimaera August 23rd, 2009, 03:10 PM ^^well, I would say you dominated the first half, but not the whole match:ohno:Poznan may have taken over in the last half hour, overall Club Brugge was the better team and had more and better goal scoring opportunities. I was surprised, I expected a very strong Polish side after seeing the Lech Board celebrating at the draw.
But the result is all that matters in the end.
I'm curious for the return, word goes that Poznan plays better away from home since they temporary moved to Wronki. Anyway, it's not over yet ;)
Fortunately Dirar recovered well from that open wound, that should have been a red card.
