Wooden Guest House
The guest house, originally the club for employees, is a two-floor wooden building in the style of Kyoto, Japan, and has a strong humanistic appeal. At the time of its design, it was well equipped, harmonized with the stiffly-looking main office to add humane connotations to the strict company’s management style.

Wooden Official Residence
The official residence is a high wooden building, with a courty-ard covering an area of more than 6000 square feet. There are flowers, grass and trees all around it. To its south is a quite imposing, Japanese-style courtyard. In its early days, this dormitory was heavily guarded and non-residents were not allowed to get in.

Red-Brick Office　
The main office of Tsung Yeh Sugar Factory was an imposing two-floor red-brick building in 1912. It housed the offices of Japango Sugar Corp, well-know for its strict personnel management, streamlined of human resource, excellent work performance and high salary. This management style reveals itself in the building’s architecture. Today it is used as the venue for the exhibition of art and culture, often displaying works of art and culture of famous people.

Red-brick Dining Hall　
The front gate of the red-brick dining hall beside the guest house has Baroque-styled decoration with red and white in sharp contrast, presenting a bright and simple feeling. The red-brick dining hall is smaller and caters to cadres. The western room, which is spacious, served ordinary employees. Now, the eastern room sells iced food while the western room is the dining hall. The western and southern spacious verandas prevent sunshine from directly shedding too much light into the room, hence resulting in a tranquil dining space. The spacious courtyard is extremely pleasing to the eye.

Taipei

Taipei Guest House (traditional Chinese: 臺北賓館) is the historical building located at Ketagalan Boulevard No.1, Zhongzheng District and also lies in the BoAi Special District. It’s owned by the government of Taiwan and used for receiving state guests or celebration activities.

Taipei Guest House, designed by Japanese architects Dougo Hukuda and Ichiro Nomura, was built from 1899 to 1901 and rebuilt by Matsunosuke Moriyama. Taipei Guest House is the representative work of Taiwanese buildings under Japanese rule, also called the most graceful baroque residence house. The main architecture of the building is concave shaped, having a roof in Mansard style and high Roman pillars, mainly in a style of France Second Empire palace buildings. Inside the building there is a resplendent suspension light decorated with crystal, baroque gold leaves and flowers and gold foil; outside the building there’s a modern Japanese curtilage garden. In 1988, Taipei Guest House was designated by the government of Taiwan and administrated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan.

Taipei Guest House originally was the House of Governor-General of Taiwan during the Japanese rule, at a distance of around 100 meters from the Office of Governor-General of Taiwan (is now the Presidential Building). Imperial members and heads of politics often visited here. Emperor Showa (Crown Prince Hirohito) also stayed here when visiting Taiwan. After Japan was defeated, Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Yeh Kung Chao and Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Isao Kawada signed the Treaty of Taipei here in 1953.

Tainan Prefecture Hall, an architecture work of Moriyama Matsunosuke who was also responsible for Taiwan Presidential Office, is in Mansard style which is a popular style applied in public buildings after 19 century in France.

It is now the “National Museum of Taiwanese Literature” and the “National Center for Research and Preservation of Cultural Properties”!

Black foot Hospital

The building located besides the Beimen Church of the Beimen Presbyterian Church was the black foot hospital in the old days. This while building stands erect in the green field by Province way No.17 and become a special picture that is like a painting. This hospital has an honor history that the Presbyterian Church took care of black foot patients in Beimen area and helped many poor residents to get rid of the suffering of black foot disease. If they died unfortunately, some of them are directly berried in the back of the hospital. This hospital was closed for nearly 20 years and now it opens up again. The original old hospital beds are still there and the hospital was used as the prevention and cure center during SARA period

Beimen Salt Works Office（now National Scenic Area Administration Office）

The history of Taiwan salt industry started in 1665 during the Ming dynasty. Beimen salt fields were the earliest cultivated fields and ended in May 2000 due to the privation of Taiwan Salt Corporation. There are also Beimen Chuchang office, Beimen salt-cleaning plant, and the house of Beimen salt-worker near Beimen salt fields. Beimen Chuchang office is the old Beimen Salt Works Office. It was built during the time of Japanese colonial occupation, and is about a hundred years old. It is a wooden single-story house built without rivets, and has Japanese appearance. During the time of Japanese colonial occupation（about in 1936）, the Japanese built smashing salt-cleaning plants in Lukang, Putai, Beimen, and Wushulin. The largest production amount was up to 300 tons each day. Beimen salt-cleaning plant is the earliest salt factory with continuous production process from producing, cleaning, making, transporting, and selling slat. It is a historical testimony. The house of Beimen salt-worker is a wooden single-story house with cement pottery and is 50 years old. Its façade was designed and built by French architectures with European style. The house of Beimen salt-worker is now Southwest Coast National Scenic Area Administration Office.

Attention：Southwest Coast National Scenic Area Administration Office is open from 8:30am to 5:30pm. Visitors can go to the office during this period.

Anshun Salt-Field Ecology and Culture Village

Destination information: the predecessor of Salt Field Ecology and Culture Village is “Nan-Liao Salt Village”, located in the middle of previous Tainan salt fields. Because the position is in the previous Anshun Village of Xin-Feng County in Tainan State, that’s why the salt field named as “Anshun Salt Field”. Red-Brick Office　

The main office of Tsung Yeh Sugar Factory was an imposing two-floor red-brick building in 1912. It housed the offices of Japango Sugar Corp, well-know for its strict personnel management, streamlined of human resource, excellent work performance and high salary. This management style reveals itself in the building’s architecture. Today it is used as the venue for the exhibition of art and culture, often displaying works of art and culture of famous people.
