Have a look at:

http://www.oliaros.com/

9 extraordinary large villas on unusually large plots of land all designed in a contemporary way. Hope we can see more of these project developpers around. I really think you need balls in Greece to pull this off in a commercial way.

I'm sure some of you already know about it. Especially about the "Kratir" house, which is very nicely done and widely published.

Those designs remind me of the failed attempts during the 1980's here in the NYC suburbs to create something futuristic looking. They are beyond minimalistic and in my opinion add nothing to the location they have chosen.

The balls the developers showed is to introduce a) contemporary architecture in conservative greece b) go for quality instead of quantity c) make a very nice presentation on their website.

I really dont see the link, but to each his own I guess. The location is a desolate place on an rough cycladic island, not a suburb in upstate new york. If they dont add anything to the location, then I guess thats a good thing. The other option is to fill the area with little neoclassical houses which ruin the horizon.

Agreed, though I guess there's a hefty pricetag. Of the 9 houses a few are for rent, a few are for sale. I think we are talking multi multi millions of euros.

Amazing houses at the coast near Athens. Not a bad place for vacations either...
