Sean in New Orleans August 23rd, 2008, 05:06 AM Say it ain't so--PLEASE. I love the Jaquars.

I-10east August 23rd, 2008, 04:49 PM Old news. If it isn't the Florida Times Union(Jax paper), or maybe the Orlando Sentinel talkin' about the Jags, then I don't take it seriously. Honestly what does a city like LA, or NY, or Wash know about Jax? Nada. I kinda think that it's a lil' ironic that someone from NOLA made this thread, considerin' all of the negativity surrounding the Saints franchise. I like the N.O. Saints BTW, but I'm a diehard Jag fan.

Saints news is really old news. The entire Superdome has been sold out for the last 3 seasons to season ticket holders with a waiting list of 25,000 for season tickets. In other words, the Saints are sold out in New Orleans through 2015 (the year the organization estimates that if you are on the wating list you will receive a season ticket) You could buy a single game ticket through ticket exchanges. And there is a waiting list for suites in the Dome, as well. I think that is why the Saints aren't mentioned anymore, because the organization and the NFL are both getting max money possible from the Saints in New Orleans.
In any case, this is the first I've heard of Jacksonville. I've heard of St. Louis with an ownership change. I just hope Jacksonville stays put. I don't care about St. Louis.
rockin'.baltimorean August 24th, 2008, 05:41 AM the jags win too much to be a candidate to move. i'm sure their stadium sells out quite a bit, right?
FLAWDA-FELLA August 25th, 2008, 04:03 PM I believe the owner Wayne Weaver has already assured everyone that the Jags will remain in Jacksonville, as long as he retains majority ownership. But we all know that anything can happen, especially when there's a lot of $$$ involved.

Actually a couple of the games I was able to attend last season had quite a few empty seats there. Believe it or not, one of the games was blacked out here locally because there were not enough seats sold. I remember one game
they had to extend the deadline by a couple of days in order to have it televised. :ohno:
lamsalfl August 26th, 2008, 12:09 AM I hope they stay in Jacksonville, but if they absolutely had to move, they should move to the renovated Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Keep the team in FLA.
Just not Los Angeles!!
FLAWDA-FELLA August 26th, 2008, 12:11 AM ^^ I totally agree!!!

There are more football fans per capita in the south than the north.
That is one reason they won't go anywhere.
I-10east August 26th, 2008, 05:12 PM ^^Thank you; I agree. People have been beating this "Jags movin' to LA, or Orlando, or blah, blah, blah city" like a dead horse! I'm not gonna even respond to it anymore. Yeah, leave outta one of the fastest growing cities in the Southeast.
karim aboussir August 26th, 2008, 05:25 PM load of crap jak is staying where there are go jak
tampasteve August 26th, 2008, 05:27 PM Could they even move to Orlando without the Bucs approval? Most major league sports have territories (for lack of a better term) and it seems Orlando would be in the Buc's territory, as it is for the Rays and Lightning.

HARTride 2012 August 27th, 2008, 10:14 PM I think the article is a load of crap. I think the owners are just trying to scare the hell out of Jax. I believe it won't happen...the Jags will remain where they are. So boo hoo LA...
jzquince69 August 30th, 2008, 06:05 AM ^^
I think it's the NFL that makes that decision, just like in MLB with the closing and moving of teams.
^^
football fans in the south: I'd venture to say there's more college fans per capita, but not NFL fans.
^^
on a related note, Jax lost the ACC Title game b/c of low attendance to Tampa. I think there's a 3-year contract to see how it fares over there. watch out, though, b/c once the Citrus Bowl gets it's $200M makeover, Citrus Sports is going to make a push for it.
If FSU had a berth in that game, I think it would've sold out.

I thought it was a question of the owners, not the NFL...?, but either way, teams will go where they will be more profitable. The Jags low ticket sales aren't exactly generating a killing, but I think it's up to Mr. Weaver, who is pretty well rooted in Jax, along with his wife for that matter.
simms3 September 2nd, 2008, 06:20 AM well it is pretty hardto have attendance anywhere for an acc championship, let's face it, the acc is nothing like the sec where each school has at least 20,000 students and die hard sports fanatics that travel at that. i go to georgia tech, and we played wake forest in 2006 in jacksonville, even if all the students at both schools went and their parents, the seats at the stadium in jacksonville would not be filled. i would hardly say that that one game not having full attendance was jacksonville's fault, just a combination of bad things.
FLAWDA-FELLA September 2nd, 2008, 04:53 PM If both Florida and FSU happen to play home games on a Saturday and if the Jags were to play at 1:00 on Sunday, the attendance will certainly be low at the stadium.
RuFFy September 6th, 2008, 10:21 PM I don't know if it will be the Jags going to L.A., but I'm sure a team is going. I've researched the proposal from L.A. More information can be found on the website www.losangelesfootballstadium.com
From what I gather, the man proposing the Stadium is part owner of the Kings/Lakers. He also was partly responsible and is part owner of the Staples Center. My understanding, thought I might be wrong, is that he wants to make money as an owner... AND... Further adding to his income - he owns virtually everything around the proposed stadium. He owns large amounts of real estate in the city that stands behind his proposal. It appears to me that the stadium and entertainment complex will serve as an economic generator to all his businesses around the site. It's the $$$ talking and we all know the NFL only answers to $$$. That's just my opinion. We'll see.
mortar-fire-matt September 7th, 2008, 10:41 PM Interesting... They could always take the Raiders back:)...
I'm not sure if this data is correct http://branddunk.wordpress.com/2008/01/26/2007-nfl-attendance-figures/, but seeing how they had second lowest average attendance, lowest percent capacity filled, and they were in L.A. before, I would see them as a prime candidate.
jzquince69 September 8th, 2008, 10:08 PM ^^
the Jags aren't going anywhere.
^^
yeah, Saturday night games for UF and FSU with an afternooner in Jax would put a damper on things.
^^
as for Wake vs. GaTech, it's moreso alumni and fans in general that make up the majority of the attendance, not students and parents. If Bobby Ross were coaching GaTech, they would've packed it. Also, Wake is a recent phenomenon. If Clemson were there instead, they would've packed Alltel.
^^
how crazy would that be if Oakland lost the Raiders... then I would've seen it all if that happens. I still can't believe LA lost it's 2 teams.
Infoman September 10th, 2008, 02:39 AM They said there coming to Baltimore just like the Indianapolis Colt's are moving back to Baltimore, and the Washington D.C. Wizard's are moving back to Baltimore., they all said the want to give Baltimore something nice.
