Here's the actual historical village which is in the Malaysian state of Melaka. Actually, they made it look chaotic in the movie with many boats of the same look by the banks :bleep:

That part in KL menjerit is "Little Genting" in Cheras.

BTW, here's the actual Melaka River when closeuped! What do you guys think? It looks more like a less-maintained addition to a shophouse rather than a slum. Did you guys see To Let there? Obvious it aren't the poor who stays there! Shame on the owners for not maintaining them well which costs Malaysia the Entrapment sabotage. Anyway, many shophouses along this river are now changing their faces into cafes with the riverfront ;)

Distorted: Heist thriller Entrapment under attack

Malaysia's prime minister Mahathir Mohamad has slammed Sean Connery's latest film Entrapment, accusing the thriller of distorting the truth.

The movie, which also stars Welsh actress Catherine Zeta Jones, was partly filmed in Malaysia last year and has already been a big US box office hit.

But Mahathir was horrified to see the world's tallest buildings - the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur - towering over slums in the movie, which in reality are 100 miles away in the state of Malacca.

He said the towers are surrounded by large gardens, not slums.

"The urge to distort and to misinform seems irresistible to some people," he added.

In Twentieth Century Fox's heist thriller, Connery plays an art thief and Zeta Jones is an insurance investigator.

The two engage in a cat-and-mouse game involving tall buildings and the millennium bug.

In one scene, the duo sail down a squalid river with the 88-storey twin towers seen in the background.

But the images of the river were shot in Malacca, not Kuala Lumpur, and spliced with shots of the 1,482ft-high skyscrapers.

"The distorted view of the twin towers will certainly make the movie audiences in rich countries conclude that Malaysia is one of those developing countries which waste public funds, perhaps even foreign aid, on useless grandiose monuments," said Mahathir.

Mahathir is particularly angry because the Entrapment team were helped with visa processing, customs clearance, telecommunications and security in a bid to promote Malaysia as a film location.

The Malaysian government also offered another Fox production, Anna and the King, the same help.

Entrapment, which has already taken $82m in America, is released in the UK on 2 July.
