I think that in this cup comes up with the best stadium projects I ve seen, especially those in Poland. Especially in comparison to those shitty projects in Brasil.

I hope tournament will improve both countries PR in Europe and World.

Warsaw Business Journal (http://www.wbj.pl/article-58256-100-days-before-euro-2012-kick-off.html?typ=wbj)

100 days before Euro 2012 kick-off

http://www.wbj.pl/lib/showImage.php?select=image_big&from=article&where=id=58256

As of today, there are now 100 days left before the opening match of the Euro 2012 soccer championship.

Authorities in Poland, which is co-hosting the tournament with Ukraine, say everything is going according to schedule.

"Everything is going as planned," Poland's Sports Minister Joanna Mucha told journalists.

"On May 15, we intend to declare the country officially ready for the tournament," she said.

"We can't let up, as the most intense period is ahead of us."

On Wednesday evening the Polish national soccer team will take on Portugal in a friendly match at the National Stadium in Warsaw. The game will be the first to be held at the new stadium, which is one of the four that will host Euro 2012 games in Poland.

All stadiums are expected to be completely ready for the tournament, although the same cannot be said of other infrastructure projects.

Poland has failed to complete many of the highways that it had hoped would be ready in time for the tournament.

Euro 2012 kicks off on June 8 in Warsaw, where Poland will play Greece. It ends on July 1 with the final in Kiev, capital of Ukraine.

I wonder how crowded the arenas in Ukraine will be. The hotel prices in Kiev etc. is horrible and the interest of getting tickets has not been as high as it normally should be.

All of the Croatian tickets were sold out.. now we'll have lottery to determine who gets them. Overall 40k people applied. We will get 6k per match.

It would be interesting to know which teams so far sold out their quota..

I'm also pretty sure that we'll have more fans in the "neutral" sector and with the UEFA sponsor tickets.. its always like that on big competitions :)

It has massively back fired on the Ukraine. England have not sold all of their ticket allocation for any of the three games. When was the last tournament England didn't sell their allocation? There are rumours that England have only sold 6000 tickets in total for all the games.

As you said the accommodation cost is horrendous. Also travelling between Kiev and Donetsk has put people off going. I'm only off to the Sweden game in Kiev, due to the travelling and lack of accommodation in Donetsk. I'm not prepared to pay £100 for a night in a tent 50 - 100 miles away.

That seems pretty small, only 6,000/match. I am sure more Croatian fans will get tickets to their matches via the free market.

How bad are the hotel prices within a reasonable range of the city? Say 10-25 miles?

When we looked back in December it was in the region of eur500 - eur1000 a night in central Kiev.

You either need to be rich or insane to pay those prices (I wouldn't) but actually you know it from advance that you'll get ripped off in periods like these. The best thing to do is stay with locals (couchsurfing etc) or just go camping with a group of friends (van or tent) around the city (like during euro 2008 a lot of people did). And instead of going to the stadium, just watch the match on a big screen in the centre of the city. Much better atmosphere, more enjoyable to watch and it's for free.

You could see the evolution already during euro 2008 and wc 2006.

Soccer: Abramovich secures Poland-Russia presidential box for €1.2 mln

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich paid €1.2 million to secure the presidential box for the Poland-Russia match at the upcoming Euro 2012 soccer championships, reported Puls Biznesu, which cites unnamed sources.

This means that neither President Bronisław Komorowski nor Prime Minister Donald Tusk will occupy the box during the game, which takes place at Warsaw's National Stadium on June 12.

Mr Abramovich, who has an estimated fortune of $13.4 billion, was ranked 53rd in Forbes' 2011 list of the richest people in the world. He is the owner of the Chelsea soccer club.

Robert Korzeniowski, marketing advisor to UEFA and former race-walk champion, told Puls Biznesu that business packages for Euro 2012 games are proving popular.

“In Poland, over 400 customers have purchased ticket packages so far and that number is growing fast,” he said.

Mr Korzeniowski added that business packages are still available for each match.

The price paid by Mr Abramovich however is in no way indicative of the prices of most match-day VIP packages. The average price for one package is €1,700, with those for the final costing an average of around €6,900.

All Euro-2012 tickets are sold
http://uefaeuro2012.lviv.ua/en/news/...prodano/12075/

All tickets to the final part of the 2012 European Football Championship have been sold, said UEFA Operations Director Martin Kallen. According to him, the Ukrainian-Polish tournament has broken all records in terms of interest in purchasing entry passes to the football matches, and the number of applications alone submitted for them was in excess of 12 million!

“There will be no vacant places at any Euro-2012 arena. There are figures that testify that all the tickets to the championship have been sold. We can get off this subject and move to the football itself. This championship will become symbolic. We have never encountered such interest in the Euro during the entire history of European football,” the football functionary noted.

He said that the most active fans during the ticketing campaign were those from the two host countries, England, the Netherlands and Sweden, and they have got most of the entry passes to the matches of the future continental tournament. The UEFA operations director has also emphasized that the European Football Association is intentionally delaying sending out the tickets, which will have several levels of protection against counterfeiting.

"The official presentation will take place simultaneously in Kyiv and Warsaw on 23 April. The new tickets will have several levels of protection - more than five, and we will start the targeted distribution for fans very soon after 10 May, and everyone who bought tickets will receive them by mail. I assure you that this way all fans will be guaranteed to receive their tickets to the tournament, and those swindlers who want to profit from fake tickets are hardly likely to have the time to create something similar in such a short time", Martin Kallen explained.

Strange that there were loads of tickets being offered for sale just before the portal closed.

My prediction is also that there will be loads of sad locals trying to shift tickets for any price, after buying them to sell at a profit.

All estimates seem to suggest that overseas fans are way down on expected numbers, especially in Ukraine. England have only sold 3000 tickets for each group game, for example, when even conservative estimates were thinking of numbers 10 times that figure.

I only saw 2 available games some hours after the closure of the Ticket Portal and you could actually still buy thme with was a shocker due it looked quite the opposite the day before.Heard a lot of conspiracies that the ticket ability what country yours Ip is from
First thought it was UEFA who is buying all the tickets however i just read that the ticket sales exploded the last week ex 8500 Danes both the ticket while the number was close to 1500 a week ago. I also read that all the German games was sold as well and Sweden has sold of course to:)
UEFA will announce the ratio of ticket sales in the end of April on an official conference in Kiev and Warsaw.
See you in Euro 2012 as for my part in Poland and hopefully in the finals in Kiev:banana:

8 people has died during the construction of the Kiev arena.

3 people has died during construction of the Warsaw arena

This is not acceptable to me. During construction for Olympics in London, nobody has died, same with the construction for World Cup in Brazill.

Please spare a thought when you're visiting these arenas to these workers who never came home from work to see their friends and families.

Nothing wrong with politicians boycotting these things if they don't think it's appropriate to accept an invitation. It seems like they have good reason to in this case. It's sad when teams or athletes are forced to boycott though, that shouldn't happen because it will be the pinnacle of their careers for some.

But if Merkel, Cameron etc etc decide they want to stay away because of the current situation in Ukraine, good for them.

You're right about those sad accidents, of course.

I'm no expert in this area, but I'd probably put it down to the system of multiple sub-contracting on larger construction projects, where in the end there may be smaller sub-contracting companies with less compliance with the Health & Safety regulations. Nevertheless, an effective oversight system should allow for ensuring the H&S standards are applied by each contractor on site.

I guess the main problem is that they have let the economics and lowering of costs go ahead of the safety of the workers. And that Uefa etc. haven't been hard enough against the organizers.

This is not only the case with Euro 2012. It's the same situation with the construction of arenas for Olympics in Sochi.

Hi all. I'll be going to the 3 Ireland games in Poznan & Gdansk, really looking forward to it. I've a question about the PGE Arena though. My ticket (Cat 1) for the Spain game is listed as a restricted view. I wasn't aware that there're restricted views at this brand new stadium so I'm left wondering where are these restrictions? And if there are restrictions would they be major or severe? Having followed the stadiums construction, looked at loads photos of the stadium as well as the stadium plan I'm not sure. The only possible place where views might be restricted might be beside either of the two concrete columns that supports the control area. Any ideas?

Maybe you have a place near fence between sectors? Look here: http://gigapanorama.lechia.pl/

Thanks for your help. I'd say you're right. Looks like I'll be sitting beside one of those see through fences. The view might still be good there though. Looking forward to seeing Poznan & Gdansk! Ole ole ole ole!

(French Article)

David Taylor, UEFA General Secretary, admitted to The Sun: "In 2004, the ticket for the match between France and England in Lisbon was the most coveted of all the competition. This time they meet in Donetsk and neither France nor Britain have all claimed their places. it's amazing, but this is one of the games where people fear to see rows of empty seats. "
