need some detailed updates on this.... need to check the status on the other side of this... the multan road wali side....

ya there is a road which is just newly constructed which is along the bridge that comes from the motorwey and linked it with old multan road.i daily pass through that route.but nodoubt bridge is working in a good pace.

i pass this site at least once a week and i can say they are working very fast, give them a month or so they will be done, one should appreciate the effort put into it by the current CM, the project was stand still for at least 2 years before this government,

Yes and also the work on Shalimar Flyover is also in full swing these days CM is very much concerned abt the Shalimar Flyover he want it to be complete on time.

be relax and patience they still have lots of work to be complete so give them a time.right now they are covered some area of "nala" may be for the sake 2 connect the bridge hopefulyy soon.

I really wonder about the pace of project, lets hope it atleast finishes before summers this year, as already lot of loadshedding has hurt last summer

ya it getting now pace u know the project manager of the project come yesterday in biulding department and said that the CM could not even allow to move from the site except night.realii that the thing which make them soo fast.

They should have realized what an important junction that is!

Canal and Multan Road intersection and then 500 m away is the M2 interchange!

...SO MUCH TRAFFIC already and on top of it they have the nerve to work so slow. Seriously, it's a pain driving in that area nowdays, especially for those trying to get to Metro...haha.

It looks as if this flyover will definitely help traffic in this area.

Absolutely, as it lies on the important junction of Lahore facing 3 main roads.

actually there are 2 or 3 completion dates are provided but due to some extra work to remove the encroachments it takes to long to complete. but hopefully in next 2 months it will be available 4 us to use.

By the way, I was thinking how funny the name of this place is. Probably a guy named Niaz Baig was inovled in an unfortunate thokar at this spot a long time ago :lol:

the are demolishing many of the houses and shops on Multan road to wider the road and also connect the road directly with their proper road space. em talking about the road which comes from canal along with the flyover and directly connect with the Multan road so now after that you don't have to take a u turn from thokar you can just put your vehicle directly on the canal road, if you are coming with the Multan road. and you will all see inshallah the whole scene of thokar can be change after the project will complete soon inshallah.

Governer was saying today that the Thokar Niaz Beg Flyover will be completed at the end of May.i.e.31st of May. He was saying that it was delayed due to non-payment of dues to contractors.

starts from front of the Main Gate of Canal View Society and ends on Multan road in front of the Toyota Ravi Motors... about a kilometer long flyover...!!

ustad... that Toyota Ravi Motors is also before motorway on main multan road.. it ends or begins (depending on your direction) right from that point...

it does not go anywhere near to the motorway interchange..

well mr rashid for ur information this project was proposed in 1999 by PML govt at that time it could not be inaugurated due to political and economical issues...later during musharraf's govt parvez elahi inaugurated this project but under his govt they only managed to construct foundations of only 3 pillars on both sides of the flyover....the main stream of project started when shahbaz sharif came into the govt last year in feb....

The project was 22% complete when new elections were held. I don't think so the foundation of only 3 pillars were done in 22% completion of work......However the construction period starts from Nov 2006...........So, 2 years & 8 months is the total period

I believe ur every point but what I was saying is that Shahbaz Sharif himself announced that 22% of the work was done when new govt. took over(PML-Q was saying that 65% of the work was done in their tenure), now my question is simple is that does 3 pillars on both sides consitutes 22%. Also our main quarrel was over the completion period, thats was 2 years & 8-9 months.........once the work is started whether slow or fast, the period is counted.....

The newly installed fountains at the Thokar Fly Over - they look pretty damn awesome if you come down the fly over into Lahore but i couldn't capture the best ... i just had my blackberry with me... perhaps someone can jump in on it - especially at night. :banana:

yup - 4 days ago , i saw them testing in the day and then at night i was coming back from Metro - it was super fantastic look :banana: I dont have some good camera, somebody needs to stop on the fly over and capture it for good

Its not on Thokar Niaz Beg flyover, its opposite to Canal View Society, so its on canal.......

Anyhow , nice fountain........

Canal View gate is far far away from the fountain it starts at the foot of the fly-over. Well at-least it complements the flyover :)

a good thing is that they have installed the fences around the green belt under the flyover to protect it from being a slum area!

Thanks for wonderful pictures and indeed they are trying hard to stop encroachments but I tell you what......people will tare down that fence at least enough space to walk through. I pray that people learn the value of beautiful surroundings and just stay away from destroying them and not do anything. I already see those posters on the pillars that don't necessary look so hot. I agree, there should not be separate threads for flyovers. City progress threads are the appropriate place to post such updates. Khair, no need to merge this thread now, but in the future I don't think flyover threads should be allowed unless it is a project consisting of several flyovers such as LRR.
