I've always liked this tower. Sure it's a tad tacky, but as the Space Needle represents the 1960's, this one is a symbol of the early 80's. Like it or not, it's become an icon in the Sydney skyline. I love the proportion of it and it looks well-balanced, even if it does resemble a KFC bucket on a stick. The only downside is the gold colour on the turret, which is a tad gawdy. Otherwise, this is one of my favs and it deserves an 8.5

Sydney has great icons but this isn't one of them. I know this sounds old but it really does remind me of a piece of steel with a KFC bucket on top.

sorry to burst your bubble but it is an icon.
its one of the top5 recognized structures in Australia (from recent poll).
it now stands a symbol of sydney. like iopera house and bridge
its a great tower and unique in design.
\It is very ELEGANT actually. no bland boring concrete shaft for this one. nice twisted wires around steel shaft.
it has the smallest spire in the world for a communication tower (only 30m)
in reality if it was like others it would be 350m+ if spire was 50-70m tall.
we are all very proud of our tower.:banana:

A Skywalk toruist attraction was added 2 years ago at 260m above street. It bhas glass bottome balcony which juts out 5ft.

It's hideous and it needs to go, not only that but it's one of the reasons for our piss-weak height restrictions.

The ubiquitous KFC bucket on a stick.

It is an icon of Sydney but it pales in comparison with other obs towers of the world. IMO even Aucklands tower is much better designed with better lighting effects.

Especially so in comparison to the stunning TV-towers of Berlin and Hamburg!
