Mindanao's best at Davao Museum
By Nelson C. Bagaforo
TEN winning artworks from Mindanao, selected from a collective pool of more than 100 entries to the Philippine Art Awards 2007 sponsored by Philip Morris Philippines Manufacturing Inc. (PMPMI), are now on display at Davao Museum for a month-long viewing.
These works of brilliant Mindanaoan artists were picked as finalists in the country's most prestigious arts competition slated in February 2008.
On December 5, Philip Morris announced the 10 regional winners from Mindanao, which included two award-winning visual artists from Davao City, during the awarding ceremony and opening of exhibition at the Waterfront Insular Hotel in Davao City.
Winning entries are the works of Bryan Cabrera and Rodney Yap of Davao City; Juni Grapa of Dipolog City; Kurt Lloyd Luch of Iligan City; Marcelino "Balugto" Necosia Jr. of Bukidnon; and Michael Bacol, Errol Balcos, Oscar Floirendo, Mona Lisa Paderanga and Kelly Palaganas of Cagayan de Oro City.
PMPMI managing director Chris Nelson flew in to personally hand the awards to the winners. Each Mindanao finalist received a trophy and cash prize of P40,000.
In his speech, Nelson assured Philip Morris will continue to support arts worldwide, especially in the Philippines where the multinational corporation is doing business.
"For half a century now, Philip Morris has been deeply involved with communities where we do business. As we have said time and again, it is our commitment to make a difference in the lives of the people and communities where we operate," he said.
"Rest assured that in the Philippines, our company will continue to support the arts since we acknowledge that this is a unique way for a society to define, express, and understand its experience. It is our commitment to introduce innovations to encourage Filipino visual artists to raise the standard and quality of their art," he added.
Starting this year, the Philippine Art Awards has become a much wider and grander event as it was made a two-tiered, bi-annual event involving four Philippine regional competitions -- Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Ten winners are selected from each of the regional-level competition, who will compete in the national-level competition.
For the national finals, Philip Morris is set to award the grand prize winner of P350,000 and select five Juror's Choice who will each receive P120,000.
"Their cash prizes will be complemented with an all-expenses-paid travel to Hanoi, Vietnam, one of the Asean region's most dynamic art centers," Nelson said.
"Philip Morris Philippines is extremely happy that the new regional format of Philippine Art Awards has been warmly received by the visual arts community," he added.
He said when they introduced the new format in January, the country's budding artists had affirmed they were not only looking at big prizes, but "the opportunity to be recognized in their respective region for their artistic talent."
For his part, PMPMI public affairs and communications manager Dave Gomez explained their motivation for making the competition regional: "The consistent response of artists to our call of entries over the years, and their confidence in the credible judging process and museum standards effected in handling of their entries, have contributed to the decision of Philip Morris to continue improving the awards."
Present during the ceremony were members of the panel of judges, representatives from Davao Museum, participating artists, art patrons and competition partners in the cities of Davao, Cagayan de Oro and Dipolog.
Now celebrating its 12th season, the Philippine Art Awards has maintained its stature as the Philippines' most preeminent contemporary two-dimensional art competition and exhibition.
First held in 1994, the Philippine Art Awards has evolved through the years. It was first conceived as part of the Asean Art Awards, where the Philippine winners compete with their counterparts from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
In 2005, after 10 years, as the Asean Finals bade goodbye from the regional arena, PMPMI decided to continue the national competition and the Philippine Art Awards provided the much needed competition platform for emerging visual artists nationwide.

i don't think that this is industrial water
unless of course this serves as a run-off from some huge polluting plant, which i believe that no such plant exists above the river. this water is the same water that comes out to the mouth of the river, which dare-i-say, is the sea to where people do bathe in. the hydroelectric plant doesn't add anything to the water, it just harnesses it's energy. i guess the main reasons why they don't allow people to take a dip near the dams is that it's downright dangerous (think of the intake valve to the turbines).

DTI bares services for SMEs
By Joy Romares-Sevilla
THE Philippine Shippers' Bureau (PSB), a regular bureau under the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) identified programs and services relevant to the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
PSB is designated to help facilitate and assist in the development and growth of the country's foreign trade and the economy by enhancing the interest of Philippine shippers, particularly exporters.
One of the PSB's thrusts is to assist the beginner exporters in terms of providing proper information in the transport of their goods.
The proper information in the transport of goods, on the other hand, ranges from right packaging, choosing reliable cargo freight companies, shipping terms and guidance in proper export quotation, and costing.
With regards to the direct participation in the shipping consultancy service among SMEs, PSB conducts SME exporter's training and seminar, education and information dissemination like cargo consolidation networking, export shipping clinic, and the multi-modal and international transportation.
The bureau has also established the quick response unit (QRU) to serve phone-in, walk-in, and e-mail inquiries from shippers, traders, and its clients.
DTI said the unit is responsible in accommodating request and providing information and assistance to the shipping and the general public much faster.
DTI added that to develop shippers and exporters into a collective voice in their negotiations for reasonable freight rates, the PSB also organized shippers' associations in major ports.
Shippers' associations are already established in the cities and provinces of Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, Dipolog, Iligan, Puerto Princesa, Roxas in Capiz, and Romblon.
DTI said that each shippers' association has an average membership of 25 companies.

langyaw December 22nd, 2007, 07:51 AM i don't think that this is industrial water
unless of course this serves as a run-off from some huge polluting plant, which i believe that no such plant exists above the river. this water is the same water that comes out to the mouth of the river, which dare-i-say, is the sea to where people do bathe in. the hydroelectric plant doesn't add anything to the water, it just harnesses it's energy. i guess the main reasons why they don't allow people to take a dip near the dams is that it's downright dangerous (think of the intake valve to the turbines).
At Fuentes, close to the Agus River is NSC's pumping station, drawing water from the river and taking it uphill to the reservoir (NSC hilltop). This pool of water provides water to cool equipment & machineries, water for the boiler, water for high pressure uses, the firetrucks, and of course, the toilets. Thus, it's classified as industrial water.
Further upstream, it passes through at least 7 turbines and whether you like it or not, carries with it industrial effluent. It's not drinkable and we don't even wash our hands with it.
Downstream, towards the delta, it fuses with sea water, and thankfully is diluted with salt, making the Bukana beach quite safe to bathe in. But if you happen to drink the sea water in the area, you will quickly notice that it is less salty and is slightly metallic.

ikra December 26th, 2007, 07:49 PM i think 6 is ample, the extra 2 lanes would be the hard shoulder i.e. never to be used lane unless your car has stalled, or emergency services use this lane to get access if three lanes do become full, etc etc (like any motorway for example in london). Plus in a long term point of view anything more than 6 usable lanes would be a waste i think, given CDO-Iligan corridor is quite short. Basically just copy germany's system its really one of the best in the world lols

tough December 28th, 2007, 01:45 PM City Council Approves 2008 Budget
A total of P 1.4 Billion Executive Budget was approved recently by the Iligan City Council: P 752,873,978 for the General Fund, and P 670 million for the Special Account.
The General Fund is lower compared to 2007 due to the reduction in the internal revenue allotment (IRA) by around P 68 million. The creation of 12 new cities caused these IRA reductions as new cities were given their respective allotments (from the same pie).
Also, by not counting the taxes to be collected from National Steel, was part of the reason why the General Fund is lower compared to 2007.
It can be recalled that the shortfall in 2007 was partly due to the uncollected taxes from National Steel in the vicinity of P 100 million plus.

g0Rs December 28th, 2007, 04:59 PM IMO, the year of the earth rat would be a good year for Iligan. The first mall, GMall, once opens its door would surely spark real competition among retailers and that would be the mark of a new beginning for the local retail industry. GMall leads and the rest will follow. Mas lalaki pa ang income ng Iligan.
I really hope 2008 will be a good year for the city. Indeed, opening of Gmall will spark competition among retailers. Im quite excited about this. Definitely, lalaki pa ang income with the coming of more investors. It pays to be patient. :)

g0Rs December 28th, 2007, 05:21 PM BFAR 10 MIPAHALIPAY SA KAGAMHANANG LOKAL SA ILIGAN TUNGOD SA PAGBATON OG USA KA MARINE SANCTUARY
(mta)

i think that's the trend nowadays for most tertiary schools offering IT courses, they'll put up a call center "training" space inside campuses, wherein in Phase 1, mga students muna, then Phase 2, start of commercial operations, but i think they need approval from CHED for this.
Alingatong December 29th, 2007, 04:15 AM During the visit of Comm. Ibrahim here in Iligan, he mentioned about obsolete courses that are still being offered by most of the schools in the country. He even gave advice to the academe to review its curriculum and do something about those obsolete courses, etc, and focus more on what is being in demand.

This year's hosts were able to raise more than P5 million. Truly spectacular for such a small class!
La Salle has, for a moment, became a mega disco pub as the whole campus was lighted up and some alumni even brought with them a huge light beam similar to the one used in batman. Food and beers were free and unlimited. More 50 lechon, 10 sacks of rice, 2 drums of macaroni salad, 100 layers of cake and 2 tons of beer and soft drinks were served but not consumed. Everyone was busog na when they arrived at the party.
It was a truly amazing experience for me as that was actually my first campus visit after I graduated 6/7 years ago and it feels good to see old faces and rekindle old memories with people you considered friends and lifetime contacts.
Alingatong,
Kaya ba this coming summer ang grand openning ng Gaisano Mall? Mukhang mabagal kasi ang construction development.
Happy New Year to all ILiganons! May the Iliganons expect for more jobs to come this new year and beyond. May the peace and order situation continues and may God guide the city officials to bring Iligan to prosperity.

Alingatong January 1st, 2008, 02:35 AM Fire razes firecracker stalls in Iligan City
12/31/2007 | 06:49 PM
ILIGAN CITY - A fire of still unknown origin razed firecracker stalls in Iligan City about 5 p.m. Monday, radio reports said.
Firefighters put off the blaze that consumed stalls on Roxas and Quezon Avenues in the city.
There were no reported injuries.
Earlier Monday, several people, including a GMA News crew member, were hurt after a fire followed by a series of explosions hit a row of firecracker stalls in Bocaue town in Bulacan province.
Chief Inspector Rizalino Andaya, Bocaue police chief, told dzBB radio a lighted cigarette seemed to have triggered the fire and the explosions.
Police closed roads leading to Santa Maria town even as firefighters rushed to the site near Turo village in Bocaue.
The explosion caused a crater on the ground and destroyed several stalls.
Bocaue is a first-class urban town with a population of 86,994 people in 18,237 households. - GMANews.TV

Volunteers help Iligan kids read and learn from them
Danny Escabarte/PBSP MIndanao
Wednesday, 02 January 2008 16:37
“Their interest to learn despite the difficult condition encourages me to go there on Saturdays to teach the kids”, Daisy Rose Andalac says as she recalls her days with poor school children in Barangay Pugaan- an outskirt village in Iligan City.
A volunteer-teacher under the National Service Training Program (NSTP), Daisy commutes to the village on weekends and spends about three hours from 8:30 until 11:30 in the morning, teaching non-readers how to read.
“Initially, I observed the kids were good in Math but weak in English especially comprehension”, she said. “That’s why I focused myself on exercises that will enhance their reading and comprehension skills, sometimes we go beyond noon time”, Daisy added.
Parents and local officials of the city are being confronted by a widespread predicament affecting the kids. Problem in reading and comprehension among grade school pupils surfaced when a study was conducted two years ago.
Based on the 2005-2006 results of the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI), 62.8% of students from the city’s 82 elementary schools are poor in reading and comprehension, assessed as frustration-level readers and non-readers.
The pre-test results revealed that out of a total 43,916 grades 1 to 6 students; 26,463 students or 60.26% are at the frustration level and 1,642 students or 3.74% are non-readers. This dismal reading capability has been observed as critical factor of students’ performance in their other subjects.
Confronted by this problem, parents and local officials in partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), Goodwill Mindanao Philippines, Inc (GMPI) and the academe, adopted measures to address the issue. About 230 volunteers from the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) who are under the Literacy Training Service of the NSTP, were mobilized to teach effective reading to children.
Daisy was among those who responded and willingly accepted assignment in Barangay Pugaan- about 5 to 7 kilometers from the city proper. “Lagyo ang balay mao nga hulaton usa nako ang uban usa mi magsugod” (Houses are located far from the school, so I have to wait for others before we start), Daisy said.
“There was a time the kids invited me to go with them because they prepared something for me. I declined. Later did I know that it was their village’s feast day. I really regret not accepting their invitation”, she added.
Her involvement in the remedial reading program has brought fulfillment in her budding desire to become a teacher someday. “My bonding with the kids during reading sessions taught me something; that despite poverty at home, the kids are very eager to learn. Sometimes if I have extra money, I will bring biscuits for the kids which we eat during our break”, Daisy confided. “I feel fulfilled like a real teacher”, she added.
Each of the 230 volunteers handles only about 10 pupils per session so that attention would be given to each one. With this engagement, the program hopes to assist non-readers improve their reading and comprehension skills and be at par with the rest in the class.
This partnership in addressing an emerging education-related concern has been successful with the involvement of the academe and community stakeholders. Foremost among them is Goodwill Mindanao Philippines Incorporated (GMPI) – the project proponent and local implementing partner, MSU-IIT and volunteers, Iligan City Government and the Philippine Business for Social Progress . tough January 2nd, 2008, 01:56 PM Iligan fire destroys 7 homes
Seven houses were gutted during a fire in Barangay Mahayahay, Iligan City Wednesday afternoon, ABS-CBN Regional Network Group reported.
No one was injured in the blaze that took place shortly after 1 p.m. The fire was put out 30 minutes later.
Firefighters, however, had a hard time quelling the blaze because of the narrow alleys.
Firemen were able to penetrate the community by placing their fire engines at a school nearby. They then connected their fire hoses to each other to be able to reach the burning homes.
Residents, meanwhile, helped the firefighters by using pails.
An initial investigation report said that the blaze started from the home of the Mampao family.
Probers said the investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the blaze.
Authorities pegged the amount of property damage at P300,000.

g0Rs January 3rd, 2008, 05:56 AM Overview of Iligan City (http://liveinthephilippines.com/bobm/2007/12/27/overview-of-iligan-city/)
Once again, today we will look at another City where expats might want to consider settling down! Today’s Overview is of Iligan City, and I was helped out by my friend, Marc de Piolenc. Marc is a dual French/US Citizen, and I’ve known him since the early ’90s online, and in person for nearly 10 years now too! I consider Marc a good friend, and I appreciate his willingness to answer my survey.
Marc tells us that he has been living in Iligan for Nine years already! Heck, he’s already practically a founder of the city, having been there that long!
When it comes to housing, Marc says that price depends on your needs, of course, but you can readily find a place to rent for P5,000 to P10,000. Marc says that he is currently paying P6,000 for his place. I’ve visited Marc’s house a number of times, and I can tell you that it is quite livable and very nice! I feel that P6,000 is quite a bargain for the house that he is living in! To give you an idea, Marc’s home is a 1 1/2 storey detached house in a great neighborhood near to a good local university and also close to the National Highway.
As for amenities in town that foreigner might be looking for, Marc says the following:
A new Gaisano mall is under construction to replace the aging department store near the port area. There are gyms, but I’m not a user so can’t comment. No public swimming pools in town, but Timoga springs with multiple pools is a few km outside of town on the Lanao side; likewise Maze Park. On the other side, the corporate rec area of Holcim Cement is accessible for a modest fee. There are four cinemas and many restaurants, ranging from hole-in-the wall eateries to restaurants I would not hesitate to take foreign visitors to.
Marc says that the cost of living in Iligan is “Cheap” with a lechon manok going for P140.
As far as transportation in Iligan, Marc says that the highways are very good, with local roads ranging from good to not so good. Jeepneys, Tricycles and Taxis are all readily available around town. Taxis are even radio dispatched, and will pick you up if you give the dispatcher a call! Unfortunately, while Iligan has an airport, it currently has no commercial flights. Generally, people in Iligan would depend on the Cagayan de Oro Airport, about an hour and a half away.
Marc also says that dealing with Government offices in Iligan is getting better all the time. He says that while there are some hassles, they are really improving compared to previous years.
Marc says that there are not too many foreigners living in Iligan, maybe a maximum of 100 or so in the entire city. He says that it would be rare to find more than 20 of them in a single place, though. Many of these foreigners are missionaries working with the local people in the area.
Iligan gets about 40 inches of rain per year, with peak rainfall in April. Minimum rainfall is in November. Summers are hot and humid, and mostly dry. Tap water varies in quality, and Marc recommends drinking only bottled water, which is delivered to the house at a reasonable price. Electricity in Iligan is cheap, due to the vast amounts of hydro power being used in the area. Electricity rates are only about P5 per kilowatt hour. Power interruptions are frequent, though - Marc reports that they average about two brownouts per week.
For entertainment, Marc says that good beaches can be found very close to Iligan - around 10 Kilometers in either direction of the city. Cable TV is also available in town, as is broadband internet.
Marc reports that some imported items (like Wine!) are available in Iligan, but for better shopping you should plan to go to Cagayan de Oro, about 80km away.
Marc feel that most people in Iligan are quite friendly, although there are a few neighborhoods that he would not visit alone at night - although those are small and few.
By the way, one thing that Marc didn’t mention, but I thought that I would add is that Iligan is the “City of Waterfalls” with lots of great waterfalls. If you love waterfalls, you will certainly love Iligan City!
Thanks again, Marc for sharing your experiences in Iligan!
Alingatong January 3rd, 2008, 06:04 AM ^^Ihave already met this nice guy. :)

g0Rs January 3rd, 2008, 06:33 AM That sweet song in Iligan (http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/that-sweet-song-in-iligan/)
I admit that song in Iligan
Was sweeter
Coming it was from a nightingale
Singing
All day
& night
& dawn
& noontime
With me,
But who cares if that bird was on a
Cage and the owner was away on a trip,
A sweet song
That was in
Iligan some years ago, sweeter because it
Could never
Be mine, sweeter
Because my ears
Heard fear
Unabated
In the garden
Of Eden, it was
Once
A prohibited song
Thrills the heart to a greater quivering sweetness.
You heard it and you sing it yourself.

g0Rs January 3rd, 2008, 06:40 AM Iligan joins ICT hubs (http://www.geocities.com/spectrumarchive5/12-17-07.html)
Iligan has joined other key cities outside Metro Manila in forming the Philippine Federation of ICT organizations. The group counts among its organizers information & communication technology (ICT) organizations from the cities of Iligan, Bacolod & Negros Occidental, Iloilo, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, and Cebu.
These organizations include the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for ICT and IT Schools Network of Negros Occidental Incorporated, the Iloilo Federation for Information Technology, the Davao ICT, Incorporated and the Iligan Information and Communication Technology and E-Commerce Council. The group aims to collectively work for ICT-readiness and competitiveness and promote their respective areas in the Philippine Cyberservices Corridor. The members agreed to invite ICT councils and organizations of other cities, provinces and regions like General Santos City and Urdaneta City. Aside from making the necessary preparation in the establishment of the body, the members shall soon be preparing for the e-Services Conference in 2008 and to allocate for a bigger regional space in the expo and better promotional activities for the regional ICT hubs.
g0Rs January 3rd, 2008, 06:53 AM Women Are In (http://www.freewebs.com/womenarein/successstories.htm)
Women's Experience in the Organization
Marivic Rocilano, 39 yrs. of age is one of the women in the Abaca Industry in Iligan City and at the same time, a member of the Pala-o Federated Women Organization (PFWO) at Pala-o Iligan City. She worked for her own family in order to sustain their family needs. She has been a laundry woman for almost 3 yrs at Pala-o and has an income of 100/ day. Until the Iligan City Government spearheaded by Hon. Mayor Lawrence Ll. Cruz and with the full-out support of the Department of Trade and Industry( DTI) - Lanao Del Norte (DTI) gave birth to the Abaca Industry of Iligan City. This new industry of Iligan helped so many women in Iligan City with its first opening last March 2006 and it’s a boost for the foreigners to buy those handicrafts made out of abaca. Marivic is one of the women who have been benefited to that said industry. She cannot earn 100 pesos /day anymore but she can earn as much of that.
When she started and attended several trainings conducted by the DTI, she can now make productive and useful handicrafts that could help her family and also to her community. As of now, she can earn as much as 850 pesos / day by making bags, mats, medal cords, pen holders, wallet, slippers and many with the abaca fibers. “All I have to do is to be patient in handling abaca fibers and ropes. Through its simple work and livelihood, it can make me smile all the time. It’s my pleasure to be part of this industry thus helping my family and also to my community rather than being a laundry alone”, she said during an interview.
Indeed, being part of the Abaca Industry in Iligan City is very meaningful and productive. You can see that almost all organizations in our community like DTI, DOLE TESDA, CDLO, ATI, City Government of Iligan, Barangay Council, and Congressional Office work hand in hand to the success of the industry not for political reasons but for the welfare of everyone especially to the women of today.
Maria Isabel L. Bontoc, a college student from Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology is one of the actively participating women in the organization. Her studies depend on her income in the abaca weaving industry. With her weekly income that is more or less P300 a week, she is able to support her schooling. “The Abaca Weaving Industry here in Iligan City is really very helpful to me. I’m glad that I chose to participate in this kind of activity rather than just let my leisure time just pass by without a purpose. At least, with my own handwork, I am able to continue my schooling. Not only that. Through this activity also, my skills in weaving abaca has greatly improved. Being a part of the organization, I found every second of my day meaningful and productive”, she said during an interview.

g0Rs January 3rd, 2008, 09:36 AM SUKA PINAKURAT™ SETS PLANT PROJECT COMPLETION (http://www.sukapinakurat.com/)
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m300/gors_iligan/suka.jpg
With the business experiencing phenomenal growth, it is inevitable that the micro business established would have to migrate into that of a Medium Enterprise. In this regard, a better and more responsive facility for production is needed. Entrepreneur Rene Stuart del Rosario, a Go Negosyo awardee and inventor of the “Suka Pinakurat”, unveils his plans for a soft launching of a Suka Pinakurat Processing Plant in Barangay Puga-an, Iligan City.
The self-financed project is slated for completion on August 8, 2008. The processing plant currently under construction would have a floor area of 1,118 square meters, which should provide sufficient working space for its current production and that considering future demand. It is the intention of Mr. Stuart del Rosario that the plant be sufficiently compliant with all food and drug regulatory requirements as well as standards set by HACCP and ISO. The Factory sits on a 4,292 square meter property, and should have enough space for expansion and growth should the need arise.
With the completion of the project and the intended migration, the business would now be ready to raise the bar and broaden its horizons. It should provide a facility to improve on its existing products, create other new and innovative products, and further enhance the quality and safety of its manufacture. It should be able to penetrate markets previously untouched, solidify its presence in markets currently developed, and exploit inroads made in the exportation of its goods.

"The Pendulum Swing"
Oil on Canvas
183x183 cm
2007
Modern society has always have this aspect of balance in its daily web of existence, but the piece of the fabric that particularly looms out of the system is the swing between chaos and peace. A factor that affects this shaky balance has always been the tolerance of people to other people, and sometimes it only needs a small spark to start a chain reaction that will escalate towards greater tension – a phenomenon that has been a constant in the history of man. It is like we need the repetition of this symptom of something that we humans are all too familiar with.
There have been a lot of attempts to rationalize why mankind goes to war, rationalizations based on evolution, history, psychology, sociology, economics and politics.
This artwork is an attempt to portray that incessant resurfacing of this human trait, the act of balancing chaos and peace.

The bronze statue of former Manila Mayor Arsenio Lacson along Roxas Boulevard was created by Julie Lluch. She was born in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte and completed a degree in Philosophy at the University of Sto. Tomas.
She held her first one-woman show at Sining Kamalig in 1977. Ensuing exhibits were held in venues like Galerie Bleue, the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the Metropolitan Museum of Manila and Liongoren Art Gallery. Her 1997 show Art and Faith was held at Galleria Duemila. She also joined numerous international group exhibits such as in Fukuoka, Brisbane, Tokyo, Jakarta and Bangkok.
In 1997, Julie Lluch won the Araw ng Maynila award for Sculpture. She has also won awards for her work as a set designer and as an experimental filmmaker. She produced and acted in the prize-winning short film "Yuta, Earth Art of Julie Lluch-Dalena”.
Besides the sculpture of Mayor Lacson, she has also created a statue of Ninoy Aquino; however, not sure if she had also done the statue of Mayor Lacson on Plaza Lacson (formerly Plaza Goiti).

Alingatong January 4th, 2008, 02:43 PM We have the hardcore industries. Tourism is also a very good source of income if properly tapped. Our retail industry is also doing good. Same with agri. What we need now is to make Iligan an IT Hub for the O&O Industry. If the city can properly manage and sustain all of these, Iligan will be great again. :)
