Processing Plant Nears Completion!


Green Gold Gourmet’s desire to improve the quality of its products and manufacture has inspired the construction of a processing plant located at Purok 3, Baranggay Puga-an, Iligan City. Product Safety features is installed in the facility to ensure that the goods are clean and free from contamination.

This eco-friendly facility is designed to emit zero air pollution, while keeping solid waste to a biodegradable minimum. Liquid waste is estimated to equal that of any regular household. Electrical consumption is greatly reduced by sunlight roofing and natural ventilation systems.

ILIGAN CITY, Dec. 18 -– President Gloria Macagagal-Arroyo will be the guest of honor at the inauguration on Friday of Green Gold Gourmet Corporation's (GGGC) food processing plant here that was constructed to address the growing demand for the company's unique and innovative food products.


The President will join local government officials and members of the business community in cutting the ribbon formally opening the GGGC's food processing plant in Barangay Puga-an, this province.

Completed in October 2008, the 1,184-sq.m. factory building that sits on a 4,292-sq. m. lot can produce 10,000 bottles of Suka Pinakurat a day, more than double the capacity of the original GGGC plant in Pala-o, also in Iligan City.

The GGGC produces three kinds of Suka Pinakurat – the sweet vinegar with soy sauce called Kuratsoy, the hot spicy vinegar called Way Kurat, and the chili garlic sauce Chigar. The company also produces garlic chips and shrimp paste (Naprik bagoong).

The GGGC products are sold in key cities of Davao, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro and Iligan, and other areas of Mindanao and Visayas. Distribution centers in Metro Manila and in some areas in Luzon have also been established.

GGGC's products have long been a favourite "padala" for Filipinos with relatives abroad. Recently, export consolidators have made GGGC products available in some Filipino stores in the United States, Canada and Australia.

Giuyonan sa mga sakop sa Sangguniang Panlungsod ang tinguha ni Mayor Lawrence Lluch Cruz nga molambigit ang kagamhanan sa Iligan sa credit rating system (CRS) sa World Bank agi’g kasangkapan sa ilang paghatag og ayudang teknikal sa mga programang pangkalambo-an sa mga siyudad sa nasud.

Atol sa labing ulahing regular session niadtong miaging adlaw, mipasar ang SP og resolusyon nga nagtugot sa pamuno-dakbayan nga usa sa mga sakop sa League of Cities of the Philippines nga mopirma sa Memorandum of Agreement tali sa WB alang sa maong proyekto.

Pinaagi sa CRS, partikular nga hatagan og pagtagad sa WB ang pag-ayuda sa usa ka siyudad nga mamahimong attractive sa mga investors.

Pormal nang gihatag sa Sangguniang Panlungsod ang otoridad ngadto kang Mayor Lawrence Lluch Cruz nga mopirma sa Memorandum of Understanding tali sa Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)- Region 10 alang sa Circumferential Road 3 (C3) Project sa Iligan.

Partikular nga nakalatid sa maong MOU ang mga pamaagi sa pag-angkon sa mga propriedad nga maapektuhan sa proyekto.

Subay kini sa tinguha sa kagamhanang lokal nga mapadali ang pagproseso sa road right of way aron kasugdan na ang pagtrabaho pinaagi sa winning contractor nga mao ang Grace Construction nga nakabase sa Ozamiz City .

Gawas sa naunang 50 milyones pesos nga pundo, aduna usa’y naka-ongong karon nga 300 milyones pesos nga gahin gikan gihapon kang Presidente Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo alang sa proyekto. Ipaagi ang maong dugang salapi sa alokasyon ni Congressman Vicente “Varf” Belmonte, Jr. sa ubos balay-balaoranan.

Ang C3 project sa Iligan mobalor og kapin sa 860 milyones pesos, ug ipatuman pinaagi sa duha ka phases. (mta)

Arroyo visits Iligan after blast

ILIGAN CITY, Philippines -- (UPDATE 2) President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo visited on Friday the wake of the two fatalities in the explosions that hit two shopping centers in Iligan City Thursday and checked on the wounded at the hospital.

Arroyo also talked with security officials regarding the investigation into the explosions that ripped through the baggage counter of Uni City around 1:35 p.m. and the baggage counter of Jerry's Bargain Center Shopper's Plaza around 15 minutes later.

Initial investigation showed that two women sporting "abaya" (a Muslim woman’s robe) were seen handing over their bags to the baggage counters shortly before the explosions took place, according to Mayor Lawrence Cruz.

Authorities have blamed the Moro Islamic Liberation Front for the explosions but a rebel spokesperson denied any hand in the incidents.

"We condemn this mindless terrorist attack on civilians in Iligan. We condole with the families whose loved ones have become hapless victims of these murderous acts," Press Secretary Jesus Dureza said in a statement.

"All the more that we should all remain steadfast and vigilant and not allow such dastardly acts to further terrorize us," Dureza added.

Arroyo made the rounds of hospitals here and talked with some of the 46 injured victims and their families.

She also talked with the families of baggage boys Erwin Suico, 22; and Jonas Badelles, 20, who were killed in the second explosion.

After her visit to the blast victims, proceeded to the plant of the Green Gold Gourmet, the manufacturer of "sukang pinakurat" (spiced coconut vinegar).

The visit to the plant was Arroyo’s original itinerary. She was guest of honor at its inauguration.

She stayed for an hour at the plant, where she was given a tour and a quick lunch of lechon (roast pig) dipped in sukang pinakurat.

She did not give any statement to reporters, who followed her from the blast site to the plant.

As this developed, Cruz said residents here continue to fear for their security because hours after the explosions, text messages warning of more attacks circulated in the city.

Cruz said among those being targeted, according to the text messages, are public places.

In Lanao del Norte, police and military authorities said they have heightened security and set up checkpoints to thwart any attempts by rogue Moro rebels to sow violence.

But ranking MILF leaders decried the allegations of involvement of its members in Thursday's blasts in Iligan.

Muhammad Muntassir, chair of the MILF's da'wah (Islamic call) committee, said the statement issued by Colonel Nicanor Dolojan, head of the Army's 403rd Infantry Brigade, about rebel commander Bravo's involvement in the twin attacks was the height of irresponsibility.

He said the statement came before any investigation had been conducted.

Muntassir instead said the military or a third party out to sabotage efforts to restore the peace talks could be behind the Iligan attacks and similar incidents in central Mindanao.

"The devil advocates have again struck and spread their venom victimizing the innocent civilians. We join the civilized world in condemning this satanic activity," he said in a statement issued Friday.

Eid Kabalu, MILF civil military affairs chief, said Bravo had personally denied any involvement in the explosions in Iligan.

"We talked to him and his men and they denied any involvement in the attacks," he said.

Kabalu also said the MILF was conducting its investigation of the attacks.

"We will conduct our own investigation to determine the real culprits. It could be the military or anti-peace people," he said.

MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE) Another bomb was found in Iligan City Friday, a day after twin explosions hit the city and just hours after President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo visited, a police official said.

In a phone interview, Superintendent Dimacuta Sanggacala, spokesman of the Lanao del Norte police, also said the death toll from the blasts that hit the Unicity Shopping Center and Jerry's Bargain Center Shopper's Plaza early Thursday afternoon had climbed to three with the death Friday afternoon of Aisah Bashier at the Iligan Medical Center.

Jerry’s Bargain Center baggage boys Erwin Suico, 22; and Jonas Badelles, 20, were killed in the second explosion.

Sanggacala said the improvised explosive device (IED) found Friday was planted outside Delecta Bakery, just a few meters away from Unicity.

The IED, discovered around 4:30 p.m., was diffused by the police Explosives and Ordinance Divison (EOD), Sanggacala said.

The police and Army say the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) is likely responsible for the attacks.

ILIGAN CITY, Philippines--(UPDATE 2) Police authorities defused on Sunday another improvised explosive device (IED), three days after three people were killed and 46 others were wounded in explosions that ripped through two stores here.

The fourth bomb was discovered by scavengers among a pile of garbage on a vacant lot between San Miguel and Burgos Streets here around 10 a.m. Two military officials were issuing assurances to residents that the city would have a peaceful Christmas.

As with the bomb left by two unidentified men inside the Delecta Bread Shop in Palao, a few hours after President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo left on Thursday, Sunday's find was also inserted inside a papaya fruit, according to Senior Supt. Celso Regencia, officer-in-charge of the city police office.

Regencia described the unexploded IED as fashioned out of an 81-millimeter mortar shell.

"We immediately called the Explosive and Ordnance Division of the Philippine Army, Special Action Force of the Philippine National Police and the K-9 team. They defused the bomb," Regencia said.

A military intelligence officer, who refused to be identified, said the mortar shell was different from those issued to the military.

Except for saying it was an "imported one," he declined to elaborate.

The discovery of the bomb took place while Col. Nicanor Dolojan of the Army's 403rd Infantry Brigade, and Col. Benito del Leon of the Army's 104th Infantry Brigade, were being interviewed over the radio by members of the Lanao Press and Radio Club.

The venue of the interview was only about 150 meters from where the bomb was found.

Informed about the find, the two officers said those behind the bombings were cowards who targeted civilians.

But they issued assurances to the public of a peaceful Christmas in the city.

Meanwhile, peace advocates asked authorities to "go slow in pointing the blame" at Moro rebels for Thursday's blasts here.

Hadji Abdullah Dalidig, chair of the Muslim Multi-sectoral Movement for Peace and Development (MMMPD), said "prematurely ascribing responsibility" to a particular group would be "a disservice to the ends of justice."

"It is best not to pronounce who was really responsible until conclusive evidence had already been established," he said.

Dalidig said they were worried that the "immediate dragging" of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) into the picture could further scuttle recent efforts to restart the peace negotiations.

Chief Supt. Teodorico Capuyan, Northern Mindanao police director, told reporters Friday that bomb experts probing Thursday's blasts found fragments of a nine-volt battery and wires from the scene.

Capuyan said it meant that the two bombs were timer-detonated.

The military said bombs planted by groups linked to the MILF in Central Mindanao in recent days were also fitted with timers.

Lt. Gen. Nelson Allaga, chief of the Western Mindanao Command, said the similarity drove them to conclude that the rebel group had a hand in the Iligan explosions.

It is with mixed feelings that I make this post at this time, knowing of the situation in Iligan at the present time. I would like to express my thanks to all of you in posting the pics and text information of the latest developments and happenings. More times than not when something occours in Iligan City I have found out about it here on SSC-Iligan FIRST . It is such a shame what is going on now at a time when it should be the most joyus time of the year and I shall say a prayer for all of you for your safety.

It seems that it was just a few short weeks ago I visited many of the locations being mentioned in regards to recent events being shown on this thread. Regardless of what is happening, nothing can take away the fond memories I have of visiting these and other places in Iligan City and visiting friends and making some new ones. It was great to meet some of the SSC-Iligan regulars who post here so often.

And with this post, I think I may have mastered the art of being able to make images show on my posts, somethig I have been trying to figure out for a long time. If I have it right, a Christmas Card should appear.

Although I am about as far away from Iligan City as someone could be ( half way around the world ) thanks to the posters here you continue to give me the ability to have a virtual visit to Iligan every day !

Yesterday, Sunday, the city was so deserted which was like that of a "Biernes-Santo". But today, the city was again buzzling. Grabe ang traffic on Quezon Avenue, Aguinaldo Street, at saka sa bandang Lluch Street. Mahirap makalusot. Buti na lang motorcycle dala namin at madali lang sumuot kahit saan.

We, Iliganons, admit that this incident has hampered our Christmas fad. But, just for a "bit". Sanay na kami sa mga ganitong pangyayari at di na bago sa amin. Kahit nga nung araw na yun, marami pa ring tao ang nasa palibot nung pinanyarihan.

As said, "the show must go on!". Kaya, KAHIT ANO PANG PANGYAYARI NA PATULOY NA HUMAHADLANG SA PASKO NAMIN, patuloy pa rin kami sa dinidibdib namin at i-celebrate ang PASKO!

Kahit ano pa gawin ng mga terorista na yan, "WE CELEBRATE WITHOUT REGRET THAT WE TURNED OUR BACKS AGAISNT THE BJE". Never did it cross our minds that because of the bombings we regret having said no against it. Whatever happens, we will continue to fight against any attempt or means to rule over the whole island of Mindanao--even if it means that some of us will waste his or her own life.

i was at nookies and that was around 11:30am, Roxas ave from post office going to rotunda was closed.CSU manned traffic and vehicles was rerouted accordingly..about 12 noon the traffic was back to normal...much better if that was a false alarm..:)

Ka nindot sa Nikon DSLRs! :) I agree, D90 is what I'd recommend also. For the price of a D700 body, one can get the D90 with a Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8 lens. Plus some extra stuff like a filter and an SB-600 or SB-800 flash. :)

In most malls in Manila that I have asked, the Price of Nikon D90 (kit) ranges from around Php 65,000 - 75,000. My friends recommend that I try the photogs haven at Hidalgo St., Quiapo for cheaper prices.

Iligan declaration on ICT


The First National Summit of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Councils organized by the Iligan ICT Council was held in Iligan City last Nov. 25 to 26.

Founded by the 10 ICT Councils in the Philippines following the success of the Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (Cedfit), the “Iligan Declaration” was formalized during the two-day event.

The birth of “Iligan Declaration” was prompted by the encouragement of the Commission of Information and Communication Technology (CICT) for every province/city to create a Cedfit model to open up opportunities and growth in the ICT sector.

The founding members of the Iligan Declaration include Cebu (Cedfit), ICT Davao, Bacolod, Iloilo, Bicol-Albay, Metro Clark, Iligan, General Santos and Quezon City.

They believed that it was high time for the Philippines to create a private sector-led ICT Council, as ICT has now become one of the primary sectors that provides backbone to the Philippine economy amid the global economic downturn.

These ICT Councils had formulated a five-point agenda to sustain the growth of the industry in the Philippines through the development of strong networking and collaboration with their government and private sector partners.

Action agenda

The councils will be addressing the human resource (HR) supply problems in the area of certification, assessment, teachers training, curriculum development so that ICT education will be standardized in all educational institutions.

The group will likewise put focus on how each region can attract more ICT-related investments, while the respective ICT councils must work closely with their respective local government units (LGUs) and pursue an active implementation of several promotion and marketing campaign abroad, such as benchmarking, trade missions, among others.

A committee was formed to take care of the advocacy programs that will pressure the government to push ICT growth through proper support in regulations, tax incentives, budget for ICT infrastructure development and other challenges that are holding off the growth of the industry.

Implementing a strong partnership with the LGU is one of the priorities that will be activated by each ICT Council.

Iligan ICT Roadmap

The other ICT councils should learn from Davao and Bacolod councils that have successfully partnered with their City Councils to pass ordinances to support the ICT sector.

The Strategic Planning Workshop was also able to formulate a road for the ICT sector in Iligan. This Roadmap will set the city’s direction and future programs in information technology particularly in outsourcing and offshoring industry, as well as the basis for inclusion of Iligan in the so-called “Next Wave Cities.”

The workshop was participated by all sectors of society involved in ICT industry such as the Iligan Internet Café Operators Association, Association of ICT Suppliers/Vendors, software developers, government agencies, telecommunications and schools. It was also attended by participants from the provincial government of Lanao del Norte.

Organization of a marketing arm for IT promotion, identification of IT Park, establishment of home-grown Call Centers, promote pilot local investment/operation, and provision of scholarship programs for ICT Trainings through DOST and Tesda, among others, were proposed in the roadmap.

Iligan City houses one of the country’s top technical schools, the Iligan Institute of Technology (IIT), in its Mindanao State University (MSU) campus.

Iligan is very confident that these initiatives will send positive signals to the call centers and other key players of the business process outsourcing (BPO) that their city is now ready to become a major ICT destination in Mindanao.

corrections.. it is not SR1299, but it is $1299 diay. so mga 60T peso.. sorry for the wrong info. kinuha ko nalang D60 at masyadong mahal ang D90. i have no regrets coz ok naman ang D60, gandahan ko nalang ang lens ko.. :cheers:
