Good Coverage of Pondicherry

# 22 is one I remember from my early days - standing near Gandhi mandapam and the view of the pier jutting into the sea.

One thing that is different, however, from those days is the higher sea level and the consequent disappearance of sands and beach - partly also due to wider rock barrier that has been erected. I remember seeing some foreigners laying on the sands in their bikinis.

Great. The only peeve i have is the quarter window that impedes visibility when making turns. It is a competent long distance cruiser.

I bet Pondy is the No.1 clean and neat city in India. what do you guys say?

I think the city's quite fab, actually. There's no doubting the seamless amalgamation of Indian and French influences in this beautiful south Indian city, which only adds to its charm. I'm not sure if it's number 1 on the cleanliness chart, but it's definitely among the top few.

All south Indian cities are cleaner in comparison with other Indian cities. That is not to say one is better than the other. All Indian cities have a charm unique to them. This is just my personal observation. I would say Panaji is cleaner than Pondicherry,which is a close second.

My favorite images from my Pondy roadtrip. A family driving off in a Merc roadster. Whoever thought this would be a common sight in India?. And, A bottle of Corona beer costs 35rupees in Pondy. Isn't that enough incentive to visit. The folks in Chennai drive down by the hordes on weekends!.

I have seen similar scenes. It looks like they are supposed to warn the driver of any pain......er...problem at the back (I avoided the .... letter word).

These trucks generally move at a very slow speed, but still, without any safety gadgets, it looks like an impending disaster.

You can see similar trucks on the way to Kayathar and Palladam. Sometimes you get caught behind these trucks and it used to be hell till you overtake them.
