Here is a map of the transportation system. (does not include my massive subway systems!)
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/photopost/data/500/746transportation.jpg
My largest city has about 456,000 people in it. It is a big mess and I do not know what to do with it. So then I started to sprawl to the next large map tile. That is where I am now!
Most of the region except the main city is sprawl. What city isnt? ;)
Also, I have used no cheats while building all the cities. It all represents what I did!
WestinPeachy November 10th, 2003, 03:56 AM I've tried making cities like that, but I always wind up losing population and once bustling properties turn to abandoned buildings. Its still fun trying though.
Kyle, you must REALLY know what your doing. That looks awesome. ENVY! How much time do you spend on that game?
queetz November 10th, 2003, 07:18 AM Can you send me your city or region...please... ;)
Style™ November 10th, 2003, 03:06 PM @ Mark, it probably took about 24 total hours on the region. I really have no idea. Sometimes I just leave the game on in high speed while I do homework. :)
@ queetz, ya. I can send it to you! Hmm. I guess I could upload it to SC.com or just try to do a massive AIM/MSN file transfer. ;) That should be a blast! :bash:
:D
LSyd November 11th, 2003, 06:52 PM close-ups please?

Rust Belter December 10th, 2003, 10:59 PM They have actual terrains for regions that you can download at simtropolis.com . They might have North Carolina. That would make your region much more accurate. I have a great Orange County terrain from there.

TarheelsCubs December 1st, 2004, 06:28 PM Style! Get out a map dude! lol
When did Winston Salem end up in South Carolina? lol
Rock Hill is south of Charlotte, Winston-Salem is North.
Shelby is West of Charlotte and Sailsbury is north between Winston-Salem and Charlotte.
I thought at first that maybe I just needed to turn your region around and then the cities would line up right. Then when I saw that you had Winston Salem south of Rock Hill I knew it was wrong.
Cool region anyway though, I will give you a high vote anyway, since your from NC and all!
Leeds No.1 December 1st, 2004, 06:46 PM A bit griddy. Wheres the trains, tube, monorail...etc?

In North Carolina? That'll be the day!
Too bad they don't have a trolley option :)
TarheelsCubs December 1st, 2004, 10:02 PM I think Charlotte does have a trolley service of some kind. Trains too. I know here in Raleigh they are getting ready to build a train system linking all the major areas around the triangle for passenger service.
I would post some pictures of the trolleys in Charlotte if someone would please tell me how to post pictures here.
TarheelsCubs December 1st, 2004, 10:23 PM Trolleys setting alarm for a.m. commute
After catering to lunch crowds, tourists, CATS eyes uptown workers
DIANNE WHITACRE
Staff Writer
Currently the Charlotte Trolleys are late risers, not starting their first run into uptown until 11 a.m. So most passengers are tourists and the lunchtime crowd.
But starting Oct. 18, the two streetcars will wake up at 7 a.m. so they can haul commuters into the center city. And the vehicles will run every half hour instead of once an hour like now.
It's the last major hurdle for Charlotte Area Transit's streetcar service since an abandoned 1927 trolley was discovered in 1987. After years of restoration, daily service from the South End to uptown started in June. But the trolleys run way too late to get uptown workers to their offices.
Many South End residents and trolley riders are asking for earlier hours, CATS deputy director Keith Parker said Wednesday.
Hundreds of new condos and apartments have opened along the trolley line since the late 1990s, and many residents say they moved there so they could ride the trolley or future light-rail trains into uptown.
They and business owners along the track were eager for service and complained the trolley is about two years behind schedule.
But critics called it the "folly trolley" and objected to more than $30 million spent on the line.
So far, ridership has been strong. One historic trolley and a look-alike new replica have carried 50,000 passengers in the last two months. That's far above CATS' estimate that 80,000 would ride the first year, Parker said at a meeting of the Metropolitan Transit Commission.
Mayor Pat McCrory applauded the expanded schedule and the number of passengers. "We caught total hell about the trolley and now there's nothing (being said). That's because it's a success."
Starting Oct. 18, the trolley hours will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. One-way fare is $1.
Also at the transit commission meeting, Mayor Pat McCrory complained he was disappointed in several of the pieces of art proposed for the city's first light-rail line. CATS plans to spend $2.4 million on art for the 9.6-mile line, which starts construction late this year.
"I want it to be something this city can be proud of -- and proud of the price. Right now we don't have that," he said. He wouldn't name the pieces he disliked.
Models produced by 19 artists are on display at Spirit Square, 345 N. College St., until Oct. 23. Public forums on the art are Sept. 30 and Oct. 13, both 6 to 7:30 p.m.
In other business, transit chief Ron Tober said:
• CATS will not buy the old Home Federal Building uptown for its offices because of its cost.
• Transit ridership is up 5.3 percent since last year and up 38 percent since 1998.
• The Federal Transit Administration is expected to tell Congress on Oct. 8 that FTA is recommending $192.9 million for CATS' light-rail line.
Justadude December 1st, 2004, 10:31 PM I said it in jest at first, but the more I think of it, it really would be cool if you could make trolleys in SC4. It would be a nice touch for mass transit in smaller cities and something to raise property values in larger ones.
I think Charlotte does have a trolley service of some kind. Trains too.
Just trolleys for now. Light rail should be starting construction in the near future, no telling how long it will take to finish.
